  1. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) If you were going to school in Tiawan, they wouldn't provide special 'Tiawanese as a second language' classes for you. One of the advantages of being a wealthier, more advanced society . . .

    QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) Dollar Dog Thursday First bas side or third base side? First Base leather or lace?
  3. Your score is 48 30 to 60: Heading to Geekdom LOL, I just posted the binary joke
  4. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 09:54 AM) I assume that is too progressive a view on religious diversity tolerance to get much traction in Texas. A shame, because it is a very thoughtful and inclusive sentiment. Reminds me of the old Dave Allen at Large sign off, "Thank you, good night, and may your God go with you." Kinky will also sign anything but bad legislature I'm still backing Perry, but we know what a huge GOPerhead I am.

  7. The business of politics. What is so funny, is the GOP would be doing this if it was a Dem. Same response, and lemmings will actually think this is important to our nation. I love it when he calls me "friend". Kerry still calls me by my given name and Bush stopped calling me all together after he ran his last campaign.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) These 'educators' flat out blew an opportunity to teach these kids about respect for the flag. They should have called an assembly and chewed some collective ass. They should have threatened suspensions and detentions for anyone using the flag in a way other than it is intended to be used. That's what upsets me about this. They took the coward's way out and 'banned' the flag. I agree, this should have been an opportuntity to learn flag etiquette. I am ashamed at how poor a job we do in teaching kids as a society about the flag and it's meaning, and how to properly display it. It is typically a 10 minute lecture in some Social Science class. They should have a flag ceremony every day and allow every kid to raise and lower the flag during the course of the year. One interesting debate we have down here, is the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. We have so many immigrants from around the globe, Asia, Canada, and of course Mexico and further south. I believe it is wrong to demand they pledge allegiance to the flag when they are not even citizens. Many maquilla workers are down here on a couple year contract and return to their corporate headquarters after they get "international" experience. They are working in Mexico, living in the US, and citizens of Tiawan, China, Canada, Brasil, etc. If I was on a job in Tiawan, I wouldn't be pledging allegiance to their flag.
  9. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) That's how I originally read that at first glance. Which sometimes leads to a requirement for the before mentioned product.
  10. QUOTE(Soxy @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) I feel so cheated right now. I've been disappointing women since puberty
  11. Actually go out and win something and the respect follows. Canada has the Canadians and Maple Leafs #1 and #2, because hockey players can win anything Ehh!
  12. It shows disrespect for the American flag when it is used as an object to harm people. I guess liberals can understand that better. As an example, there are plenty of hate groups that have wrapped themselves in the US flag and used it to intimidate anyone who doesn't think like them. I do not like seeing the flag of my country used that way. Fly it with dignity and respect, or don't fly it at all. I see them being dragged on the ground, tossed in people faces, snapped at people like whips, and get rather upset. If someone wants to use that as an example of a liberal defending banning the flag, so be it. Maybe conservatives, like whitesoxfan101, don't mind the flag being used that way, but I do. I believe it is banning the disrespectful use of the flag, not the flag itself.

    QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 07:08 AM) Weiss Holy Grail or Life Of Brian? 1980 - Life of Brian Today - Holy Grail I've become a bit more sensitive to some subjects getting satired. Family Guy or Simpsons
  14. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Uhm, yeah. Scanlan, Abramoff, and now Rudy pleading guilty to conspiracy/corruption, and basically putting DeLay's leadership offices at the center of a criminal enterprise has me wondering just what you see in this great American. The influence peddling for kickbacks scandal in the Northern Marianas Islands is going to bust wide open, and Delay is right ther ein the middle of it. Maybe I was wrong about him? I so wanted to see him kick some commie, terrorist butt. Like Reagan . . .

  16. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I'm keeping it in the garage, and I still have my Chevy Malibu. (High School graduation present) Not really a "beater," but it'll get the job done. Great. And sorry if it sounded like a lecture. I didn't mean it to be.
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) Well the mothly payments are about what I make in a week, and I don't really spend much money on anything else. I plan on using the other checks towards my savings and checking account because I use a direct deposit system to pay off my car. The job I currently have is for one year, but I have a strong feeling I can get something with them after. Because of this I didn't want to buy a house. My parents made me save my money for college while growing up and told me when I finished, I could used the leftovers for whatever I wanted. As for the car, it's a 2002 automatic. (never tried stick, Plus how and I suppose to talk on my phone, change the radio, or drink my scalding hot McDonald's coffee with a stick?) I didn't mean to get personal, and wasn't implying it necessarily was the situation you are in. I just wished I had listened when I was 23 to my parents and a financial advisor and earned interest instead of paid interest. By the time I was thirty I had a mountain of debt and a ton of toys that owned me. BTW, very nice car. Enjoy it. Do you have a beater for the CHicago winters? A buddy of mine from HS managed to drive some awesome vehicles for a couple years and sell them for damn near what he paid for them. He also parked them under a cover in his garage during the winter.
  18. It's a sad, sad day, when a great American like the Hammer has to leave with his tail between his legs. I guess it's on to the McCain bandwagon for me.

    QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) All I'm saying is - you're playing with fire if you ride a motorcycle. He didn't mess up, it wasn't his fault, a semi passed him going at a pretty high rate of speed and twisted him clean off the bike. And now he doesn't have a leg. It's really sad for me, because I know this guy. You are correct, there are risks. Some people have a higher tolerance to risk than others. Climbing mountains, SCUBA diving, solo exploring, drinking and driving, not exercising, bungee jumping, being in the Army, etc all are in that risk/reward ratio. This seems like a freaky accident, I've passed and been passed by a lot of trucks and never was even close to losing control. I'm not saying that it doesn't and didn't happen, but if motorcycles were that dangerous, there would be a standard disclaimer and disqualification on all life insurance and medical policies. I know that if I hurt myself skydiving or SCUBA my insurance will not cover me. So I don't skydive, well that and I think anyone who jumps out of a perfectly good airplance is out of their minds. Prayers to your friend. I hope he has a good attitude and rebuilds his life to the fullest.
  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Here's my first car I purchased on my own. Not too shabby for being 3 months out of school. B) Not getting personal, and none of my business, and just a general comment, debt is a tough thing. Building a nest egg will bring you a lot more happiness.

    They are not as safe as some cars. How many people here are driving one of the safest cars? http://cars.about.com/od/helpforcarbuyers/...opten_crash.htm

    How can you die if you never lived? Backpacking? Bears, rattlesnakes, falls, cell phones don't work. Surfing? sharks, drowning, (actually the board wacking you is the #1 source of injuries) Off shore fishing? boat sinks etc. Airplanes? Hunting? Well ask Cheney what can go wrong there. Kite Surfing? It's all relative. I've driven probably 75,000 miles on two wheels and not even a scratch. I will bet more people die sooner from eating at McDonalds (generic term for being 20-30 pounds overweight or more) not exercising, and being too stressed out than a motorcycle. But I'll bet that sometime this month everone here will find themselves with a fast food meal. BTW, I always wear a helmet, but I've read studies that having a 10 pound object on your head may cause more neck and spinal damage than not wearing one.
  23. QUOTE(Timoperezrulez @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) It would help if I had some help from a mod or something. The only thing I could think of is have people check their own and at the end of the contest check who ever claims to be the winner. To me it seems like a gigantic season long head ache. How about this variation. Start one now, everyone has to play every game beginning tomorrow. Last person standing wins. In other words if 25 people start the contest Tuesday take the ones that advance and move on with them. As soon as it gets to one player, start another contest.
