  1. You do realize it was an independant auditing board that is making the accusation? Do you really want the UN investigating this themselves?
  2. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) I stand corrected Tex. Since the U.N. has proven to be extremely adept at plundering Iraq ( they did it for 8 years so they at least have experience on their side ) they should know theft when they see it, evidence be damned. The only thing Haliburton has been caught doing wrong is overcharging on fuel and the Congress made them pay for it. Until they come up with some concrete evidence the U.N. needs to keep its collective mouth closed because they are the only proven thieves between the 2 of em. So who should blow the whistle? If the UN discovers that billions are missing, what should they do? Wouldn't keeping their mouth shut be corrupt and covering up?
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) I dont disagree that the book is divisive ( thats probably why I can't wait to get my hands on it ), I just get tired of hearing the lefties in the media paint the right as the dividers while leaving the left untouched. We're on the same page on that point. And it is a bi-product of politics in America. I don't remember when it happened, but all of a sudden, people started defending crappy behavior and government because it was "our side". If you vote for a guy, and he screws up, you should be *more* upset. Instead, we feel like we need to defend the guy and the opposition wants to pile on any minor infraction. When supporters demand more from their candidates, then we'll get back on track. That will not happen because there are no multi million dollar campaigns and radio shows calling for it.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) My experiment is a failure. I was hoping someone would say "you're kidding right" but everyone overreacted and came out blazing with the "cruel and unusual", "you're a pshyco" tack. Come on Tex, even I can't agree with something like that! But it seemed so you . . . I was hoping someone would point out that since we kill criminals, isn't something like chopping off thumbs less harsh and reasonable?
  5. Texsox replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in SLaM
Nuke, riddle me this. A city lines up and starts chopping thumbs off petty criminals, is it in Iraq, Somalia, or the US?
  6. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) Funny how leftists like you are so quick to believe reports of American corruption stealing money from Iraq which are written and dissiminated by an organization ( The U.N. itself ) which wrote the book on corruption and stealing money from Iraq and did so for about 8 years. Never mind that the source is 10 times as corrupt as the corporation which is supposedly doing all this theft. Never mind that there is no evidence in their report, just accusations. I do agree with 1 of your points though. The dumbing down of America IS nearly complete. It is YOU and those who think like you who are leading the charge. You wrote it's not our money, what did you mean? Which is better quick to believe, investigate, and determine what is correct or quick to ignore and make excuses? The GOP has their ditto heads defending anything and everything. How did Republicans think before the GOP Radio Network? Now Rush tells it on his show, and all the GOPerheads shout ditto Rush, bow, and say it must be true. Nice to see you are keeping score and as long as Halliburton isn't as corrupt as other companies, they must be OK. The GOP doesn't want you to believe any media sources that criticizes it, and you take their party line hook line and sinker. The GOP wants the Judicial branch to not use it's Constitutionally given rights and has been mounting a activist judge campaign for years. Talk about rewriting the Constitution! Let's say Halliburton did steal millions from the UN. Who can make the claim and have you believe an investigation is necessary? The UN is 10X more corrupt, so they can't. The media has a liberal bias so they can't. I guess Chaney's old company just gets a pass.
  7. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) If they'd cut off his thumbs, then he wouldn't have been able to open those little cans of cat food. Then they would have had to send the cat to the Mayor of Las Vegas to raise. And you know he would probably have the animal declawed at the first signs of trouble. And the thumbless guy would have to go on welfare and be supported by all those hard-working, thumb-choppers. Silly Mercy!, there would be no welfare. Work or die.
  8. Texsox replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in SLaM
Some good advice from the mayor of Las Vegas, "cut off their thumbs". If France had the death penalty and just rushed these rioters directly to the electric chair the same night, the rioting would end in one night.

I have to score this Mercy! 2 Nuke 0 Play on this is fun.
  10. they should have cut off his thumbs
  11. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) First of all it was not our money. Second of all, there is no evidence included in their report, just accusations. Third. Halliburton was punished by Congress and forced to pay fines when they got caught overcharging. This report is total nonsense. LOL. First off I vote for individuals, but you all play ditto heads and vote for any GOP who happens to be on the ticket. First the GOP gets you to denouce one third of the governement, the Judicial branch. Then they get you to ignore any media that criticizes them. Then they get you to defend anything they do because it's your guys. Now you'll defend any GOP led business??? :headshake The dumbing down of America is almost complete.
  12. A man came home from work, sat down in his favourite chair, turned on the TV, and said to his wife, "Quick, bring me a beer before it starts." She looked a little puzzled, but brought him a beer. When he finished it, he said, "Quick, bring me another beer. It's going to start." This time she looked a little angry, but brought him a beer. When it was gone, he said, "Quick, another beer before it starts." "That's it!" She blows her top, "You b@stard! You waltz in here, flop your fat a-ss down, don't even say hello to me and then expect me to run around like your slave. Don't you realize that I cook and clean and wash and iron all day long?" The husband sighed. "Damn, it's started!"
  13. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) The guy farts to see which way the political wind blows. If it stinks, he's usually somewhere in the area. You know, the one who smelt it dealt it? Is this a personal attack on myself?
  14. They should have had their thumbs cut off, we need to get tough on crime and then kids won't do stuff like this. We need to raise the punishment to match, not lower the other one. Fill them prisons and then start killing the worse offenders.
  15. That is one screwed up woman. I wonder how many of these go unreported? I can't remember ever hearing about these until a few years ago.
  16. And you get to deduct her for the whole year It's now married claiming 3!
  17. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) Attempt to find a bank willing to give a loan to musicians to fund the recording, promotion, and distribution of a full-length...it doesn't exist. As long as music is being created and distributed on a national, or international basis, labels will be present. Gone are the days of the wandering minstrel. Many musicians create music to make a profit and earn a living--whether this makes for a better product or not is up for a different debate. Music labels are a means to an end. As long as musicians seek to earn a living--or, if they are the sentimental type and simply desire to distribute their work as some piece of communal art, belonging to the "people"--the role the label plays will be a crucial one. My point is with better and better technolgy it will not be nearly as expensive to produce the album. Instead of expensive recording sessions, technology will put a recording studio in a garage and it will be equal to the major studios of yesterday, just like a desktop calculator kicks butt over what sent Apollo to the moon. You will not have huge publicity costs of hitting every radio station, most consumers will have radio bots that will stream music to their desktop via a search type function from the artists server. There will be some artists that continue the traditional route, just like the networks compete for TV shows over cable stations. But the record labels will become less and less important to the process. The consolidation the record industry saw in the 80s will reverse and smaller, faster, niche companies will grab a huge market share.
  18. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) He's pretty happy right now. Wait until he has to change that s*** filled diaper later. Then he won't be. Actually an amazing thing takes over and he'll actually think it's cute. I changed a lot of diapers, when it's your own kid, not a problem.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Part of the reason I think the whole Texas State Government is a great big boondoggle is him. The whole special sessions on school finance have been a big joke, they got nothing done, and there are many people that think he just likes the attention, so he keeps calling them back. Besides that, the man stands for nothing. That's probably why you like him, you big fat liberal! If I was a big fat liberal I would have voted Sanchez I was a little upset over the redistricting b.s. when he didn't choose a more bipartisan approach.
  20. How is Mike doing? Is he holding up OK. I know how difficult it is for the new dad . A full day of labor, all the phone calls to make, holding the baby, the discomfort of listening to the mom complain, it is just so hard on the new father . . .

  22. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Rick Perry is officially an assmunch. God, what a waste of a governor. Really? I like him. I've been fortunate enough to meet him on three occasions, two involving my kids, and walked away being impressed by his sincerity. In our last election, as much as I tried to like the Dem candidate, in the end, I pulled for Perry. I still think he was the better choice.
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Rape is violent, hate crime. To call it anything else is to try to find an excuse for it. To find a cause is a step towards prevention, to call it finding an excuse is wrong.
