QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) For as long as it was sitting in the water as well as the contaminates that are in the water, it would likely have to go through a serious cleaning to work and then some of the chips might be toast already. You are such an engineer I would think with more and more integrated chips some of these will work. Plus they could always return them to WalMart if and when WalMart reopens.

There is something special about checking the schedule at the beginning of the season and seeing that Sunday doubleheader against the Yanks or Tigers. Single games we didn't make advance plans to go see, but the double headers, those were planned for.
  6. they never caught the second gunman on the grassy knoll. Perhaps he's the cheat
  7. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) great the teams gonna get all wasted and play like s*** today. Godamn Drunks. Ozzie only tells them to go get drunk after a tough loss.

  9. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Does anyone know if BMac got the beer shower last night? Well, let's see. Bmac would know, I assume the players would know. He would have called a friend or two after the game. So yes, some people would know.
  10. There will probably be a spot start or two toward the end of the season to set up the playoff rotation. I would assume that Ozzie will have Mark, Freddy, and Garland coming in on their regular rest. As long as things do not get too tight, Ozzie will have that luxury. With the September call ups, Oz will have more arms in the bullpen and presumably will be quicker to shut down the starters.
  11. I felt like such a geek, that question had been buzzing around my head all day. All of a sudden the lusting interview came to mind. Sadly, I was thinking great PR blunders.
  12. Since the cherry win was in Texas, we'll have to make you an honorary Texan.
  13. did anyone check out any of the rate a professor sites before registering?
  14. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) You know, I've been thinking about the question, and I think I may have a plausible answer in Jimmy Carter. For those too young to remember, carter was crucified for admitting that he had "lusted in his heart" for women other than his wife in a 1976 Playboy interview. I can concede that his Presidency left a lot to be desired, but the guy had integrity and pretty much did nothing more than admit to what we all know everybody does. It's simple human nature to have sexual fantasies. In the interview he even went as far as saying that he didn't consider himself any better than an actual adulterer because the sins were no different in the eyes of his God. It didn't save him from being publicly skewered however. So, basically, he admitted a wrongdoing (at least in the eyes to his God) that he didn't have to - and got a lot of grief for his trouble. Here's the Playboy synopsis: Damn you. I was just getting ready to post that. Carter has also done more for humanity and has been a greater ex-President thank anyone else.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) and Venezuela offers fuel, food to hurricane-hit US CARACAS (AFP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez offered to send food and fuel to the United States after the powerful Hurricane Katrina pummeled the US south, ravaging US crude production. The leftist leader, a frequent critic of the United States and a target himself of US disapproval, said Venezuela could send aid workers with drinking water, food and fuel to US communities hit by the hurricane. "We place at the disposition of the people of the United States in the event of shortages -- we have drinking water, food, we can provide fuel," Chavez told reporters. Chavez said fuel could be sent to the United States via a Citgo refinery that has not been affected by the hurricane. Citgo is owned by Venezuela's state-owned oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA). In the Gulf of Mexico, which accounts for a quarter of total US oil output, 92 percent of crude and 83 percent of natural gas production were shut down due to Hurricane Katrina, which slammed Louisiana and Mississippi, according to US government data. Venezuela is the fourth-largest provider of oil to the United States, supplying some 1.5 million barrels a day. Last week, Chavez offered discount gasoline to poor Americans suffering from high oil prices and on Sunday offered free eye surgery for Americans without access to health care. I need his address to send a thank you note . . .
  16. Nice major league spit there in the dugout. Good stream, no dribble. Remember, it's important to look the part.

  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) 1st place is 1st place...I'll take it every time, especially when were talking about a 6 game lead. Doh, it is always better to be in first.

  20. Growing up in the 60s and 70s I remember being at at least one or two double headers every season. Both on the north and south sides. I came from a "mixed" family Now they seem to rare on the schedule that I wonder how many people have ever been to one. Sidenote, remember Wilbur Wood (below) pitching both ends of a twin bill?
  21. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) They need to do this...after his career is over. Who the hell wants a tribute while they're technically still playing? I wouldn't. Do we have wakes and funerals for people that are still alive? Stupid idea for this season, if you ask me. When did we retire Baines number?
  22. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) LMAO. /going home to turn on the game right now... I'm running a little late. nice avatar, appropriate I kid because I care™* *Used by permission.
  23. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) The archaeology course sounds more interesting than the criminal justice course to me. I was thinking the same thing, especially that corner (center) of the globe. QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Im looking at a career in law enforcement, and CLJ is my major, so its the better one in my opinion. And considering that I have a s***load of reading for Thursday in the arch class, and nothing yet in CLJ, its much better at the moment. So what do you think of University Professors?

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) Why didn't these people evacuate? No rental cars, no flights out, no public transportation, no money. The biggies. Being an idiot and trying for a Darwin Award was very low.
  25. A.) To the idiots in the Ranger's organization who think McAllen, 750 miles away is part of their "local market" f*** You! B.) To the idiots at Time Warner who do not offer Ranger games here in the Rio Grande Valley, 750 miles south of Dallas, f*** You! C.) To the idiots at mlb.tv who have blocked me from today's games because of A and who don't care about B, f*** You! I cleared my schedule, stocked up on snacks and beverages, and patiently awaited BMac taking the mound with Garland as the opening act, and wham! I'm screwed.
