    Got mine today!

Adults shouldn't find the books to be as exciting as kids. IMHO they are written for the 9-13 age range. I applaud any series that could have the kids this excited. As far as the religous angle. I have a very good friend who is a youth minister and doesn't allow his kids to trick or treat, avoids fairy tails, etc. I find it to be amusing. My kids were mature enough at age 8 to figure out and understand the difference between stories like Harry Potter and our religous beliefs. I assume that most 8 year olds can as well. Teaching kids to think and differentiate will do more to instill a sense of being and religion than hiding Harry Potter from them. Can you imagine this conversation "Daddy, do you really believe Nancy is going to hell from reading Harry Potter? Then all my friends are wrong."
  2. I can't believe your wife and my girlfriend look the same!
  3. He's waiting for "the phone call" and wants to be ready? He digs the pimples and shriveled dick? Chicks love his mood swings? He's just one mixed up stupid ex-jock with no sense of worth outside of hitting baseballs?
  4. You would think when he's sitting at 3-10 on the season he would have bigger reasons to want to win than the fact it would help "his" team. Comments like this can come back to haunt him like next season if MLB decides to create an "instant rivalry" like Sox-Cards. Hope he gives 100%. He claims no other player mentions they pull for their hometown team. Well Dah Mark, do you think there's a good reason for it? He opened himself up for criticism.
  5. After your Cubs pick I am so glad to see you picking the Twins
  6. I'm hoping Sandy can help in the clubhouse. I have absolutely zero reason for believeing this but I think he can help with a winning not whinning attitude. Am I misled?
  7. Does this mean he isn't coming back to the Sox?
  8. Spoken like a true Sox fan
  9. Rice has an awesome staff this year. They need to get off to a better start than down 2-3 in the first inning. Gotta love an old school manager still out their coaching third. Go Owls!

I may have passed poetry if they had poems like this.

    When it Rains it Pours

Way back when I took the Motorcycle Safety Institute driver safety course the instructor quoted a stat that something like 50% of college kids will crash their new sportbikes in the first week of ownership. I wonder how long he'd been riding? If not inexperience any word on what may have contributed to the accident?
  12. he's got some stamina. Think mom and dad are going to show that to his prom date?

    Got mine today!

My son is on page 425 after receiving his via the Fed Ex guy on Saturday morning.
  14. My thought is simple Mark, grow the f*** up. You're getting paid to play for the White Sox. Forget every other team and concentrate on who's making you a very wealthy man.
  15. Which tells us how far we really have to go. Just winning a weak division ain't all that cool.
  16. My Bulls seats at the old stadium were in the last row of the balcony. Great before standing room crowds. You could slide out the back of your seat and go get a beer. No climbing over anyone. When a good team was in town we could upgrade at the ticket office for a few bucks. Great fans all around us. One guy was the funniest guy ever.

    Fashion question

On men they would be Plus 4s or knickers ol' chap.
  18. Truer words have never been spoken. However, on the bright side, Mark may have just become a Sox. He wants to rip the M-f ScRubs. Gotta love him for that. or is he auditioning for St. Louis
  19. ncorgbl you've always talked about distractions in the clubhouse hurting this team . . . Now if we do wind up waving the white flag I'm all for inviting her and a few friends to finish out the season There are always priorities in life. I have mine. And they are in perfect alingment
  20. Maybe without Lou Pinella as MGR. But it would be a quick series. I would almost rather face the Yankees. Almost rather? I would in a heartbeat.

    Fashion question

BTW and FWIW if you quietly wear them no one will probably complain except the 5'5" piglet and even then it may not cause any concern. A "you mean these?" may go farther then a stick it in your arse approach. just my .02 YMMV
  22. No big deal: we catch them after being down 1 at the break. Not that newsworthy: We catch them after being 3 down at the break. Newsworthy: We catch them after being 5 down at the break. Unbelievable: We catch them after being 7 down at the break. We'll be telling the grandbabies: We catch them after being 10 down at the break. What I'm trying to show here is coming back from 5 games back with 70/80 games left isn't that big of a deal. Not only are we on the same lap as the leaders but we're smelling their exhaust. I wouldn't be waving the white flag in July unless we are 8 games back. It's not like we're trying to catch the Mariners. Another point to ponder. Let's say we do make the playoffs and our first series is against the Mariners, do we win a game?
