  1. This was basically posted on May 1st, May 15th, June 1st, June 10, etc. Just when you think they figured out how to score they go back into the s***ter. IMHO when the offense finally comes around the pitching is going into the toilet. Then the big finish with a month left that leaves us just short. After 30+ years as a Sox fan, been there, seen that.
  2. I thought once WGN stopped beaming into every manufactured home park in the world the ScRub stuff would die down. These old f***s who drink every afternoon were really riled up.

And they say a public school education is second rate . . . Please allow me to translate for you corky. and thay say a publik skul ejukatun is 2nd rate let me tranzlat 4u
  4. Big news in my little city. Fergie's coming to town. No not the English royalty, but the HoF pitcher from the Phillies, Rangers, and some other team in the midwest. Turns out he's here to promote the Central Professional Baseball League's All Star game. The guy on the radio is reporting how Fergie is trying hard to start a minor league in Canada. I replied his love of minor league baseball was because he enjoyed playing for the Scrubs in Chicago. Damn. There are way too many Scrub fans in Texas. I was flammed for 2 hours. How dare I criticize a fine man like Fergie. The Astros have got to get their marketing boys cranked up down here.

No he tended to "unwind" after the game with various non subscription medications. Usually cocaine and alcohol. Nothing like blowing a .20+ on the meter and having cocaine in your system to make the drive home happy. The team figured this was a way to at least keep it out of the papers and hopefully under the league's radar. A friend of mine was working for his agent and it was the talk of the office. The agent figured it was in his client's best interest (and his long term) but the player was not happy.

I was at a race in Milwaukee when one of the guys brought this mad scientist radio setup. At first I thought WTF, he's a computer geek. Next race I was wired Too bad many of the teams are now going to lengths to stop the eavesdropping.

I saw one where the player was required to be picked up and driven home by team personnel for all practices and games. Seems the player had had some traffic issues after a hard day at work

I really starting enjoying the races after picking up a scanner and hearing the pits.
  9. Doesn't seem like we always have bad blood between Chi and Minny? How about the f*** Dino banners at the Hawks games in the late 80s? I remember someone had a Dino doll hanging by a noose and the North Stars refused to come on the ice until it was removed. And wasn't it against Minny when the Hawks had a 30 minute pre-game brawl when VanDorp decked a guy during the skate around before the game? I also seem to recall a Viking slamming McMahon into the turf and knocking him out of a game.
  10. Has anybody looked ahead to see when his last start would be before the All-Star game? As a fan I would like to see him start, pitch one inning and get out. As far as the Sox's lack of success impacting his chances, why can't the argument be made that he's 11-2 dispite the horses*** season the Sox are having?

I believe that would be appropraite for the San Francisco GIANTS.

He signed a contract. If he wants to be in the NBA it is his decesion, and he is compenasated for it. Good point. I didn't hear he had that clause in his contract. I know with one company I worked for I couldn't skydive, scuba, or climb any mountain above 8,000 meters. All seemed easy enough to avoid so I agreed. I could and did ride a motorcycle.

I love it. This should expand to other teams and other sports. The White Sox presented by Sloan Valve, maker of the Royal Flush II

How much should athletes give up for their employer? I'm sure many on this list are important to their companies, would you agree to not ride a motorcycle, not drink, not swim in the ocean? Didn't Frank injure himself when his Harley fell a few years ago?

And I didn't even think of the hillbilly tag. I thought NASCAR was more a Carolina originated sport than the Appelacians or Ozarks, the traditional home of hill people. I was making fun of people with brown teeth and friendly cousins. It is ok to make fun of people with brown teeth, isn't it?

Good news for northsiders, it seems to be legal for a man to "seduce and debauch" another man. Except there is a Texas case before the Supremes.
  18. Are we still going to ignore KC?
  19. 2 of 3 would be perfectly fine. I still believe going 3-3 with Minny isn't the end of the world for the first half. 4-2 is incredible and 5-1 would only cause bitter dissapointment down the road
  20. There have been times this season that I thought we would finish closer to Detroit than the Twins
  21. I got an Impala for my wife. Great car but I do miss her sometimes . . .
  22. This could be the series that makes or breaks this team. Part 7? At the very least the next couple series will define the first half. Does anyone think JR would consider some personel changes at the break?
  23. you can acclimate fairly quickly to any climate. I went from Chicago to deep south Texas. A couple months later I was walking 18 holes in 105 degree weather and not wilting. Historically what has been Bart's weight?
  24. At the major league level talent is almost equal, it's what you get out of your talent that matters. If you are correct that by going on a diet he would be the 2nd best pitcher in the AL, then what does that say about his desire? If he can't give us enough effort to push away from the table that's sad. I still believe that Bart and Mark give us a great 1-2 start of a rotation for the next 5 years is we cab get them signed. I think Bart needs an attitude adjustment.

That first contract is way more important in baseball than hoops or football. Look how many get drafted and how many make it to mlb. This could be his biggest paycheck of his life. Negotiate for all you're worth plus some for old age. I just can't get excited about baseball's draft. Most of the really good prospects seem to get traded before they play mlb for the team that drafted them.
