COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
People need food, they don't need to go to a baseball game. Seems like that should be a factor.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
How could we feasibly treat them differently? I recall closing non essential business and allowing grocery stores and gas stations to remain open.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
I’m wondering if every location should be treated the same? I think I might tolerate a different standard for essential businesses like grocery stores and pharmacies compared to a baseball stadium. It feels like they should be treated differently.

Tim Anderson to 10 day IL, retroactive to April 5
He may also remember that once the Sox are eliminated I generally follow the Central Division teams then the Al until the end. There are a couple NL teams that might bump ahead of the AL in certain matchups. I always have enjoyed Cardinal fans. The Mets possibly. Astros mostly because of so many friends being fans. Really the key is I enjoy baseball. If I ever coached a team sport again I would find a baseball staff to join.

It took a moment lol. Loving baseball helps. Betting the under 90 wins helps. Being an optimistic introvert is my overall best strategy.

Forbes White Sox evaluation- #14 worth $1.685 Billion
He was the lead investor when his group bought the team for $20 million. It's now worth well over a billion. He's not selling his shares because of a $40 million one season loss.

Take Me To Your Leader
All you need to do today as a manager is allow players to do whatever they want and follow the computer commands. You don’t really need to spend a lot of money to accomplish those tasks. I’m guessing by the end of this decade there will be a manager in baseball with no playing experience above AA and by 2035 one without any pro ball experience just great motivational skills and knowledge of advance stats.

Take Me To Your Leader
The biggest time spread I see is LaRussa going 22 years between WS wins. Leyland also had a 20 year spread between two teams. That's a long time to be managing.

4-3 GT: CWS @ LAA (8:07 PM CT)
I like the consistency of the backup catcher working with one pitcher. And good point, it would be nice if the corners had some time in the opposite.

Having all these night games right at the beginning of the season kind of sucks
At least the games aren’t boring.

Pick a pitcher and that’s when Grandal should sit.

I really expect him to make good in game decisions. Something that we aren't accustomed to.

What if Yermin Mercedes keeps hitting?
If he hits at a better than .250 pace he'd be our best DH this century. So if it is pessimistic it's grounded in history.

Remember when Somalia was doing so much better than the US in COVID response? That all changed https://www.voanews.com/africa/somalia-covid-19-vaccines-are-distant-virus-spreads

What if Yermin Mercedes keeps hitting?
Kids this is your brain on alcohol. (I love the enthusiasm and optimism) The stat heads will say regress to the mean. He wakes up tomorrow the same guy who toiled and sacrificed for years. He will end the year as a .250 hitter.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Arrived at a bar at 3:30 to meet up with some coaches. We were outside, four of us around a large table. By 8 pm there were a dozen, no masks, it looked like a pre Covid party. I kind of freaked and left. If I walked up and saw that I would not have joined up. But it happen one by one and seemed like normal times. Weird.
