White Sox Pick up Garcia's and Thornton's Option
Now let us hope that we do not have to trade one of them to fill in holes elsewhere.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 08:57 AM) I could really see the Sox trying to bring Big Jim back. I know what Kenny said, but what other left handed run producers out there that fit our budget? A few reasons why Already comfy as a DH Looks good in a Sox uniform Over all good leader in clubhouse Might get his ring At a nice price Really could use to keep some power

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 07:23 AM) How does Thome not get comp? That seems crazy, unless it is tied to him being in the NL without a glove, short service with that club, etc.

Decades old war monument in peril
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 08:20 AM) That's it!?!?! What a monument. We are such a wealthy nation that we can argue this all the way to the Supreme Court, yet we can't offer medical care for the working poor?

Decades old war monument in peril
The solution Congress approved, and the Courts rejected, sounded fine. Swap out the acreage for another tract. And I'd have no problem, in fact I would like it, if other symbols were added. I'd just like to see them in the same size and scope and with some tie in that shows the religious, and non religious, traditions of all that served and died in our defense and offense. It seems crazy today, but this slippery slope ends at Arlington Cemetery when crosses are banned.

White Sox Pick up Garcia's and Thornton's Option
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 07:57 AM) Its a million dollars. To you and I that is a lot. In the baseball scheme of things, it is two minor leaguer's salary. It is like buying a lottery ticket for the powerball in terms of how much it cost us. At the end of the day, if he is "Fat Freddy" you cut him, and you don't care. Exactly

Reread the article. He did not ask the *government* for permission, the government was not the land owner than. It was more he did not ask for any special government designation for the memorial on private land.- Fitting Ending to 2009 Season
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) Fitting end to the season? Yep, grounding into a double play was a fitting end. And ending the disappointing season was one of the most disappointing acquisitions. Instead of the spark to ignite a pennant run, he pissed in the punch. I think he came in with too much expectations. I suspect next season to be much kinder to him. Here's to a better 2010- Miguel Cabrera got drunk with Sox players Friday night?
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 12:51 PM) and hangovers get worse with age, even if you learn to tolerate them a bit better That was a turning point in my life, I now fear the hangover. No way I want to be barfing and sweating.- Decades old war monument in peril
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/05/sup...ref=mpstoryview Story Highlights A war memorial erected in the shape of a cross was covered by plywood The cross is located on government property Justices will decide whether the display violates the First Amendment It's "sort of odd that it just happens to be in that shape," said an ACLU attorney Originally erected decades ago on private land, the land was donated to the government, now the monument is in danger. Congress, back when it was under REP control, worked out a smart solution of swapping 5 acres of and just outside the park for one acre, the acre this sits on. I'll gladly with the GOP lawmakers on this issue.- Alphabetical Conversation Thread
