Pennsylvania Primary Thread
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 02:27 PM) Just read the comments, the claim is garbage. This claim arose around noon Eastern, but no photos of bad ballots have yet to surface, only photos of campaign literature that looks like a ballot and instructs people how to vote for particular candidates. It's nothing. It's nothing, unless a campaign can make it something. How many nothings, become somethings, with the right group spinning away? /damn, where is my lapel pin

scheduling for mlb
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) I just want to know what genius thought having both teams in Chicago this many times in April was a good idea. Because so much of the fan base overlaps It is stupid, but I have to laugh. The Cubs could be playing on the northside of Racine for all the Southside cares

Pennsylvania Primary Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) At this point, I certainly don't see any reason why we should panic about this. It's an election, it's a complicated thing, especially for the companies building the voting machines. It'd be nice if it was error-free, but there were bound to be a few that cropped up here or there. Show me something that suggests a few tens of thousands of people might have had their votes screwed with, or don't bother. "Some voters" doesn't cut it. Actually it is amazing we get it right as much as we do. Imagine even a .5% error rate would number in the tens of thousands, and it never gets that bad. But I am certain it was Clinton and her people.

Pennsylvania Primary Thread
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) they would have to register before hand, 30 days before the election I believe. you can't just walk in and be like "I'm a Democrat now!" on the day of the election in Penn. Thank you. I believe it more states did this, a better case could be made to eliminate the so called super delegates.

Pennsylvania Primary Thread
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) i'm sure that 1/20th of 1% of the primary voters, who are Republicans and went to the trouble of registering Dem just to vote for Hillary Clinton, is going to make the difference. I wonder what system they have to "register" if it is "trouble". IN Illinois and Texas, it is a matter of announcing which ballot you want. Same effort all around. Do you have to fill something out in advance, or take another step in Penn?

Crede and Free Agency
QUOTE (max power @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 07:43 AM) He might say he is, but it appears his agent is saying not to bother. Since joe employs his agent too handle that specific matter, what is the difference? I don't see how you can say your open, then have your agent say you are not. So yes, if he continues to employ boras, he is full of s***. PS, that sentence doesn't qualify as a double negative. "Misconception" could be replaced with "wrong idea". OK, they are open to talks with every team in baseball except maybe one.

Frank Thomas Released By The Blue Jays/signed by the A's
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 11:09 AM) No, you're completely right. Rbi and runs are completely independent of what your teammates do, it really isolates a player's contribution. It's like how wins are the best stat to go by when judging pitchers, because the point of playing is to win games. Totally. Fixed that for the sarcasm impaired

Konerko needs to be benched/traded
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) Reading the Konerko and Thomas threads was pretty humorous I must admit? The Jays were wrong for releasing a 39 year old Thomas, a notorious slow starter, yet we should bench/trade a younger/more productive (for the last few years) Konerko, who is a notorious slow starter. LOL. They are both highly paid and highy talented guys, who will both hit. Have some patience guys, and look at the histories of both of these players. But that really isn't any fun is it?

FLDS
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) The FLDS actively covered up abuse of abuse of children. The Catholic Church actively covered up sexual abuse of children. Seems related to me So have school districts, youth sport leagues, etc.

Frank Thomas Released By The Blue Jays/signed by the A's
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Some players are actually worth more not playing than playing. Toby Hall for one. The thing about Frank is, it isn't about the playing time, trying to earn his money. Its about the money. If the option had already vested or Toronto said they would pick it up anyway, do you really think he would have made such a scene, and not even shook hands with his teammates after a victory? Frank's been banking on that $10 million. Now if he needs $10 million, he's going to have to play beyond 2009. I agree some guys may be worth more not playing, but they are still not earning their money sitting. Or a player would not be earning his money hitting .200 but could be earning his money batting .000 on the bench? That is one hell of a butt patter and cheerleader. The guys on the bench are like insurance policies, spare tires, personal flotation devices, life rafts, they are worthless until you need them. Then when you dust them off and use them, they earn their keep. And like those things, some poeple find that buying the best is a great value, some want to go cheap. And again using this analogy, a spare tire is much more valuable as a spare, it sucks as a replacement tire. So you would rather have it in the trunk then on the road. But that still does not mean it is earning its cost sitting in the trunk.

Crede and Free Agency
QUOTE (max power @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 07:25 AM) Some people here are under the misconception that joe isn't full of s*** when he says he and his people are open to contract talks. The double negative is confusing. You think he's full of s*** about being open to contract talks? I would say just the opposite. They are very open, as open as possible. To every team in baseball. And the team is open to contract talks with every 3b in baseball and any team that will give them something for Fields or Crede. Everyone looking out for their best interest.

Jimmy Carter = Hanoi Jane Fonda
While Americans always believe the only form of government involves freely chosen leadership, throughout history, people have lived very nicely with other forms of government. Problem is absolute power corrupts absolutely over time. Seems like these guys always go a little goofy.

Pennsylvania Primary Thread
I'd like to see numbers on who the GOP is supporting in the Dem primary and to what degree. My guess is Clinton, and they are probably mobilizing for a big turnout. They could be the swing votes in the Dem nomination.

Crede and Free Agency
What is really funny is the fans that will b**** that Crede leaves for the high bidder come from the same fan base that think he should be gone now. So when Crede should think about the fans, which fans are we talking about?
