QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 17, 2012 -> 08:49 AM) So the wifey and I are starting to look into buying a second car. We have a 2010 Ford Escape which is good for the baby and trips and whatnot, but we need a better commuter car for her to get to work. Probably 25-30 miles a day in mostly city or packed highway driving. And with enough space in the backseat to put a car seat. I'd like to get a hybrid, but looking at the options it seems like you're stuck with a crappy look (Prius) or a hatchback. I'm not really into either one. In terms of a sedan, it looks like one of the best options is the Toyota Camry. Anyone read up on cars as a hobby? Any suggestions? I've talked to a friend about the Ford Fusion Hybrid, it looks fantastic and is moderately priced (upgraded model is right around $30k), plus has some incentives on it. I'd also explore the Optima Hybrid and Sonata Hybrid if you like their styling.
  2. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) minor league baseball will NOT hurt the major league product. just ask the red sox. Is this a joke?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 03:47 PM) Where is the proof that a minor league team builds a major league fan base? Plus you run the risk of competing with yourself.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) That just makes me hate the writing on the show even more. And if that's the case, wouldn't they make it a priority to check those zombies just to be sure they're dead? Also, my wife and I couldn't remember - was there an explanation for why the zombies don't just "die" from lack of food? Do they need any (wasn't that the point of them moving out of the city into the country)? Could they conceivably just continue on for the next 100 years? Or can the humans realistically try and wait them out? Because this wasn't really introduced in the comics until this point, and they did learn from it after that event. Theyre following the comics more, which is fantastic, it's never going to be perfect but it's gonna be good. Also, zombies technically don't need nutrition, they will however decay.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 10:59 AM) It's also hard to ignore the rule that humans = zombie movement, except where convenient. "Oh hey, there's a zombie on the ground not moving at all. We'll walk past him. Whoa, wait a minute, he just lunged with amazing speed 3 minutes after we walked past him. Makes sense!" Another part from the comics, some zombies are known as sleepers, they aren't as active as walkers and really only wake when hit or walked by closely.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 10:52 AM) Yeah - good points. Also, we've realized over the first two hit/miss seasons that sometimes the rules are bent when convenient! That storyline has been tweaked from the comic book. Dale was the one who was supposed to be bit and have his leg cut off, so I guess this is his replacement.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) cartoons are awesome. do you watch Archer? you should watch Archer. Archer is the s***. It's the cartoon equivalent to Arrested Development in terms of epicness.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 01:27 PM) Frankly I thought he did well all the way through his tenure. There never were any complaints about the Sox's on-field performance under Ozzie. He was never on the hot seat until the end when he talked a bit too much. The performance remained fine. It was the other stuff. Never any complaints from YOU. EVERYONE else had legitimate complaints.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) Trivia questions! No cheating allowed 1) Of players with atleast 40 plate appearances in the second half, who had the highest OPS on the White Sox? 2) Given the same criteria as in question 1, how many players had an OPS of .800 or better in the second half? If you can figure out the answers to these questions, you have found biggest area of need for the Chicago White Sox. Throwing some guesses out: 1) Flowers 2) 2
  10. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) Okay so im in the market for a new router and im really too lazy to read a million different reviews and study the history of the varangians in Russia at the same time. I know theres guys in this thread that are a walking cnet.com so can anyone tell me with a budget of $200, what is the best router I can get? The interwebs at home is mostly used for gaming on xbox, streaming, acquiring movies, etc. I have a 20mb line from comcast. I got a motorola router/modem combo unit, has worked great thus far. My brother just put in some network-over-powerline adapters, says he gets amazing speeds on them.
  11. I am extremely wary of giving Peavy a long term deal, I just don't like how he put in so many innings after injury riddled seasons. I personally don't think his arm was conditioned for that much and we will see major regression/possible injuries even next year. That said, if we have the budget and Peavy will give us a discount of say 2/25 (including the $4m buyout) or right around there I would still take that risk/reward.
  12. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) That is pure gold. Well done sir.
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 09:09 AM) A lot of Android models have removable batteries, including many of their flagship models, as do the Microsoft/Nokia Windows Mobile Luminas. There are a few that don't, however, obviously including the entire iPhone line, as this allows the manufacturer to make the phone smaller/lighter/thinner, without having to expand the size of the phone in other directions to compensate. Thanks, I just figured it was the norm to not have removable batteries, I don't have any friends that have a phone with one or atleast haven't seen one. I get the added benefit of being able to carry a 2nd battery around in case the first one dies, but your phone would still be dead for at least a few seconds, plus you have to remember to bring that battery everywhere. Seems more like a pain that worthwhile, imo.
  14. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 02:51 AM) I love the pure Android experience and am intrigued by the leaked supposed specs so far. Looks good so far too. I just HATE if it'll be non removable battery. Might be a deal breaker for me. Inductive charging is nice and all, but I had it on my Palm pre years ago and would rather have removable battery. Now I'm gonna have to hold out hope that other companies build a Nexus too...with a removable battery along with nice specs. Do any major phones even have removable batteries at this point? I thought everyone went away from that because of space concerns.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) How about the absolutely brutal decision in Game 3 of the World Series by Ozzie to bring in the injured, rusty Dustin Hermanson to face Jason Lane instead of Jenks? Lane doubled to tie up the score in the 8th and sent the game to extras. Dusty failed Ozzie.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 11:23 AM) I'm going to keep reposting this. He can't answer that without mentioning 2005, so he'll keep ignoring you and responding to other posts with answers about 2005.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 11:07 AM) Exactly it's a message board, so don't go off on me when I disagree with the crowd, that's what bothers me. The parody I'm ok with, I have no problem, I just hope others can have the same thick skin.... It's all good. What are you talking about? You went into crazy defense mode after being involved in a parody, nobody went off on you at all.
  18. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) Yep. For as much as I hate Apple, Y2HH seems to be on the opposite side of that spectrum. It seems he defends all things Apple and takes it very personally when people speak badly about them. It's pretty obvious that's not the case. Does Y2HH like Apple products? Sure, that's even more obvious. But it's pretty clear that he jumps on people that talk like they know everything that is going on, or everything about a certain tech, when clearly they don't.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) Your Kinsler statement got me to wondering again ... why do owners sign these guys to ridiculous contracts when they spend the length of the entire contract trying to get rid of the same guys cause they are overpaid? My message to moronic owners: Just.Say.No. And yet you want/wanted to give life contracts to your favorite players. GTFO
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Picked up some Big Hurt Beer tonight. Will report back. It's not good, but you will get drunk.
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) This should bring us all together. http://littlefacemitt.tumblr.com/ Yea, this is just not funny.
  22. Not sure if mentioned, but Francona was hired as the Indians new manager. Didn't see that one coming.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) Stupid because we would owe a lot of money. He's clearly in over his head. We already struggled to hire a coach, imagine trying to convince anyone worthwhile to come here after a bad season, PR disaster in firing a 1 yr coach, and oh yea, come work for fanbase/AD that is fire happy.
  24. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) Damn. What an awful hire. Maybe, I'm going to give him a few years to get his own players, but firing him now would be all sorts of stupid. The players clearly didn't buy into him, and that's a big issue for both sides.
