  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) Iowa is gonna be tough when Tate/Tucker get back. And your spot on regarding the game at Wisconsin next week. The Illini in my eyes need to finish 5-4 in their final 9 games, going into the tourney with less than 10 losses (including a possible loss in the Big Ten Tourney) will be a huge success. And the schedule is looking hard, so I would be really happy if we finish there or better.
  2. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) you mean 3rd chance??? I'd say 181AB in 2008 and his .232 BA, would be his 2nd chance. You mean his chance to prove himself as a bench player or as a starter? 181 PAs in the role that he played is not enough to say whether or not he is a starter. When a player only plays once or twice a week as a starter (if that) it is very hard for them to keep up a hitting streak or get in a groove. No matter how much BP you face or tees you hit off, the game is so much faster and the pitchers can overwhelm you if you arent used to facing the stuff that they bring. Getting ABs at the end of games as a defensive replacement will not show you are a starter. And he still put up an OPS of .708. He showed that he still has pop. Really, I think he could be an 8 or 9 hitter delivering a .240 average with 25 homers, to go along with stellar defense, to me that screams average or better CF. He wont be a star, but he'll help the team tremendously defensively, and will add a bit to the offense.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 02:24 AM) Braff has already said he isn't coming back, Bill Lawrence isn't coming back an Judy Reyes (Carla has said she isn't coming back). Without JD and Carla it wouldn't make sense to have Turk and Elliot so I think Chalke and Faison would be gone. So basically yes the rumors are that it will be basically a new cast. My guess is the show would revolve around Dr. Cox as chief of medicine with new interns and doctors. I'm not really sure how I would feel about that. If they made it into a subset of Scrubs, like an offshoot show, then I would be okay with it. Like Scrubs II (not saying it should be called that, just the jest of what Im trying to say). I really dont want it to bring down the original show in anyway, and if it turns out to be great, then it deserves to be recognized as its own show because it would be so different from the original. Anywho, thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
  4. I wasnt a huge fan of the sesame street references, but they were tolerable because the rest of the episode was so good. I must say, I Elliot when she dresses down, she looks so damn good. And Kelso losing his angry niche is kind of sad, I mean he really lost it at the end of the episode. I always loved his feuds with the Janitor. Finally, Ive heard rumors about that spinoff, but anybody have more details on how it would be? Just no JD if he doesnt come back? Or do they jsut start new with the newest set of interns (as in get rid of Chalke, Faison)?
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) Where did you go when you came up to GV? Kleiner is generally very unhealthy, but they have a sandwich place and a lot of salad options. Fresh Foods is always good, and far healthier, but it's buffet-style, so that can be an issue lol. There's also a salad place and Subway under Kirkhoff, so I suppose you're right. We went to Fresh Foods, and although its buffet I see it as really healthy (if anything, it jsut goes to show you the options at my dorm). The other place we went to was the more fast food like place, which im guessing is Kleiner. The grilled chicken sandwich was good, im guessing thats not to bad for you, and the sub place tasted just like subway, so I liked it.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 03:52 AM) You're a UofM student I assume, since you're in Ann Arbor. I know how it goes buddy, I go to Grand Valley... Anyway, sandwiches are probably your best bet to keep a leaner diet that can still fill you up. Get honey oat or wheat instead of white if you can. Turkey/chicken will give you the most protein from he meats available, but roast beef or ham aren't bad either. Try to lay off the mayo if possible and opt for something lighter. Piling up the veggies helps too. PB&J is always good too...lots of protein. And drink tons of water. It's absolutely necessary. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) it was always so tough for me in college...but not because of what the cafeteria served...IMO there were plenty of healthy options available and at a school like michigan I have to think there still are...we had a couple of sandwich places where you could get a wrap or wheat bread, a couple of vegetarian places...we even had a stir fry place which wasn't horrendous for you ..you could even get a taco salad with chicken......my cafeteria always had a baked chicken, that frankly stunk, but it was high in protein and low in fat.....also smoothies for breakfast....what burned me was drinking, ordering pizza, making frozen bagel bites, going out to dinner, etc....its really tough in college IMO...whatever you do id say try to get into a good workout routine..that can always be done, no matter what is available to eat, and if you can cut back a bit on what you eat you will begin to lose weight and for anyone else reading the thread...la tortilla tomato basil soft wraps...100 calories...12g fiber (nearly half daily value) and only like 10% of daily carbs....i made a wrap with some perdue chicken strips, lettuce, carrots, sliced almonds and fat free asian salad dressing...really good Thanks for the advice. I actually go to U of I Champaign, I havent updated my profile. Some cafeterias are healthier, like for lunch i went to a different one and I had baked chicken which I added sliced tomato on top of, with green beans on the side, a banana and a side salad. Healthy yet alot of food so Im still full from it. The trouble is that the dorm I live at is really unhealthy, and I just dont have time to go 20 mins each way to a healthier dorm alot of times. My family is big, so we have changed lifestyles to help, so wheat bread is basically a staple of mine for when I have sandwiches now, and I like turkey but I need variety sometimes so thats what makes it hard. And Grand Valley is so much healthier than U of I, my girlfriend goes there and I went up to visit for the first couple days of your semester to help her move into her honors apartment, and the food we had was really good and healthy. Much more fresh when it came to veggies and fruit, plus they had real dinner options like oven baked turkey, something my dorm never has. Although my dorm cafeteria is brand new, its awful. They go on a weekly routine for food, so every station is the same week in and week out. And none of it is really healthy, and the little that is is overeaten because its a weekly routine.
  7. So, here I am at college and Im wasting away all my hardwork from my senior year of high school. Im back up to 220 ish, and I want to be around 200, although thats not important as long as i look good and feel better. Basically, I live in the dorms, and everything is fried. The fresh fruit is not good, like its plastic and tasteless. They never have just cooked vegetables, just fried if any. And they have very few healthy options besides that. Anybody got ideas for healthy eating besides salads? I can deal with a salad for lunch/dinner a couple times a week, or as a side dish every meal, but it cant be the only thing i eat, i need more. I have a very large appetite so that doesnt help. They have a deli and salad bar, any sandwich ideas or different types of salads to atleast mix it up? Or meals created from the usual salad bar/deli section? Besides those they have a mexican buffet, american foods, pizza, and a mongolian bbq place (they use alot of oil there). Thanks for all the advice guys.
  8. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 06:05 PM) You mean Bonderman? Both really. Bonderman of course, but Verlander has all the stuff to be the #1 guy but he still struggles, just look at last year. He had no arm issues last year, he was healthy and throwing fine. But all of a sudden guys started to pound him. His stuff isnt missing bats as much as it was before. Guys are getting used to it, so he needs to make adjustments or he'll be a mid rotation guy.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) Just some of his tactics in the media (ie: Self's funeral) and that he always seems to have excuses. There's other stuff, regarding recruiting, that I don't feel like getting into. Fair enough. I just think theyre are alot worse coaches out there from what I have seen and heard. One guy I cant stand is Bo Ryan, he just seems to be the biggest jerk. Edit: Ryan is still a very good coach though.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) You won't find a poster on here who hates UIUC more than I do, as I think Weber is a whiny scumbag. With that in mind, UIUC would dominate ISU right now. The Illini are a hell of a defensive squad, and losing Pruitt/Randle is the best thing that could have ever happened to that program. Im not trying to really argue you here, but why is this?
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 21, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) Ugh. Easily the worst guest star they had on there was Colin Ferrill. I still wish they'd done more with Jason Bateman when he was on... For some reason I cant remember the episode Bateman was on, can you refresh my memory? Im guessing he was a patient, because I dont remember him as a doctor. I also feel Bateman is an incredibly under-appreciated actor.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 21, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) Yeah and then one time youll accidentally put your credit card in the atm and youll get money, but itll be at a huge interest rate. Good luck, just make sure to stay on top of it. Persistence usually pays off. Alright, thanks for the heads up.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 21, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) Call the bank who issued your debit card and call the pizzeria. In the future if you want to be safe, use a credit card. With a credit card you can call your credit card company and they almost always immediately reverse the charges and begin to deal with the dispute for you. Debit card is slightly different and often times it can be much harder to get the money back as the money is already gone from the account. You need to notify your bank asap so that all future charges may be stopped. I had just set a credit card, and have used my debit card alot before that so it was more of just ordinary practice for me since I never had a problem before, but looks like I need to switch my ways.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 21, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) So because one person somewhere scratched the s*** out of their ipod and got pissed enough to contact a lawyer (or was a lawyer themselves), Apple has to shell out $22 mil plus lawyer fees? How the f*** do scratches impare your ability to listen to music? It might impare your ability to show off your ipod if you are tryig to brag about it, but c'mom, it's not like they all just shut down in January for no apparent reason or something. Is a check for $25 gonna make the music play any clearer? Its just another $25 going towards Itunes for many anyways.

So I am new to all this "real" world crap and I have a question for all you experienced people out there. I have a debit card and took my dad out for dinner after he drove me back to college. Of course I paid with the debit card at the pizzeria. But the place keeps charging me the original amount and then an additional amount thats close to but different then the amount I was supposed to be charged. I called TCF Bank and they canceled it the first time saying that maybe it was just a mistake and if so the merchant wont charge me again. Two days later here I am with another charge on my account, this time for even more money. Do I call the merchant? Do I call back TCF (its a Visa card, but no Visa number is given on the card). Thanks in advance for the help.
  16. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) When I graduated high school, I was barely 18 and most everybody else was 17. Only a handful of the kids were older than me. 19 I can understand, but if you're a 20 year old college freshman, then you were either held back a grade or two, or took some time off after high school. Most I know are 18 going on 19, most likely during the academic year. Of course you get the occasional younger or older person, doesnt seem to big a deal. Edit: This is for college freshman, not high school seniors.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 12:09 AM) The economy is tough and owners of teams will have you believe owning a MLB team isn't a way to make money, yet all the teams for sale seem to find buyers. You can't sell a house, but a baseball team? No problem. I think owning a team is a little more lucrative than they want anyone to believe. If youve got the money, the challenge is very enticing for many. Plus, its an exclusive club. Only 32 teams out there, gotta pony up the money to be part of that. Plus, if you do it right you can make money and win, which Im sure is the expectations of every new owner, and its up to them to play the game right to get that.
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) Oh if you only knew my pain. It really is more of a curse than a gift. "God, my brilliance is becoming a bit of a burden. Get back to me."
  19. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) I'm not counting on crap from Marquez...this year or next. I'm just not seeing it. As for Jon...I'd do a 2-year-20M...give Poreda first shot and have Richard in the pen. Just personal opinion, but I really think Poreda should spend ATLEAST the start of the year in AAA, I jsut think he should work on his changeup more. Im salivating over what he could become if he got his slider and changeup both up to atleast average pitches.
  20. QUOTE (qwerty @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) It really needs to be said... Mlbtraderumors f***ing blows... they are not nearly up to date as people want to believe. Dude is a hack... That Dude just finds articles posted from around the nation, its a very good source to find articles on many teams without having to look them up yourself. His opinion is his opinion, but his source gathering is fine. Of course you could find stuff faster if you wanted, but its nice to have a site that covers a lot of baseball pretty efficiently.
  21. QUOTE (GLOAD is GOD @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) What would we lose as far as compensation goes? Our Cabrera pick? He's Type B, meaning we lose nothing. Only the Angels pick up a sandwich pick between the 1 and 2 round, but the team signing him loses NOTHING. Our compensation for Cabrera is completely dependent on which or if any team signs him, depending on where that team picks and when OCab is signed, with a guaranteed sandwich pick. Also, if no one signs him, we do not receive picks.
  22. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:24 AM) Ill say it the White Sox got lucky last year. I enjoy the fact that KW is building a base, but we pulled a division championsihp out of our asses. Some could make the argument that the Twins do that also, with all the young guys that come up and perform well for them.
  23. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) Rosenthal confirms Furcal to the dodgers. Here's how it played out with the Braves: Foxsports Wow, if true, doesnt look like the Braves will be working closely with Kinzer and his clients anytime soon. That is really bad on the agent, I kind of took that info as if Kinzer got a deal that he wanted, but didnt get really the final okay from Furcal yet but went ahead and agreed, and then Furcal said that he didnt want that deal, opting for the Dodgers.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) You obviously didnt watch many sox games this year. Offensively he stepped into a role he doesnt really fit in and had a pretty good season. Royce Clayton's career numbers are .258 .312 and OC put up a .281 .334 for us. After a slow start he put up a pretty good second half .298 .343 and as our leadoff hitter he put up .293 .341. I would say he was one of our better players this season. There is pretty much no reason to hate the guy, he did what he could for this team and now he's gone with compensation for us. Clayton's OPS in his first year with us, .708 Cabrera with us, .705 I admit, Cabrera is a different batter, more contact and higher average but less power than Clayton, but they still are very similar in OPS, which to me tells alot. My personal opinion is that he couldve done much better with the Sox, and his attitude from the start never impressed me so I will hold a bias against him.
  25. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Man, some of you guys are just ridiculous about your hatred for OC. Why? We had high expectations for the guy, and he came here, didn't fit in, was overrated defensively, was as bad as ROYCE CLAYTON at the plate for the majority of the year, that to me gives plenty of reasons to hate the guy.
