Addition of Red Wings irks some in UHL
Queen Prawn replied to Controlled Chaos's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I thought the Dead Things were scum before this, now I am certain they are. I agree with what Kevin Kerr was saying. I know that some of the Canes are on AHL's Lowell Lockmonsters (Canes' AAA affiliate), but that is AAA with a team they are affiliated. From what I had understood, the guys that went there were there on and off the last NHL season. Looking at their roster I can see 4 names that are with Lowell that were with the Canes - two were rooks last NHL season. There are three guys that bounced between AHL and NHL last year with a few different teams. I have been trying to find where most of the main guys are - I know a few went over seas, but since the Canes really didn't have any big names, nothing they do would have been reported and I don't have time to do a name by name search. -
One of the links I found via yahoo NY-Bound Flights Get False Hijack Threats Fri Feb 4, 6:02 PM ET U.S. National - Reuters NEW YORK (Reuters) - Two Delta Air Lines Inc. flights were held briefly after landing in New York on Friday after authorities received false hijack threats, police said. "It was a big nothing, a non-incident," Port Authority police spokesman Tony Ciavolella told Reuters. He said Port Authority police received several "erroneous reports" from "various federal agencies" about two flights -- Delta Flight 119 from Paris, which originated in Bombay, and Delta Flight 81 from Amsterdam. The first report about Flight 119 stated that there were "seven people of interest" aboard the flight, a second tip from another agency said there was "one person of interest" on the flight, while still another report said that F-16 fighter jets were escorting Flight 119, he said. Then Port Authority police were asked by federal authorities to check on a possible threat to Flight 81 because it was also a Delta plane arriving from Europe and was set to land at John F. Kennedy International Airport within minutes of Flight 119, the spokesman said. "Both flights arrived on time without incident and the pilots of both planes reported no problems," Ciavolella said. Upon landing, both planes were boarded by Port Authority police and FBI (news - web sites) officials and nothing untoward was found, he said. Asked if the passengers were questioned after leaving both planes, Ciavolella said, "There was nothing to check out." Delta said in a statement that passengers of both flights deplaned normally after a brief delay and that both aircraft have resumed their scheduled service. One of the threats was called into an embassy, a Homeland Security official said earlier, and the caller claimed there were hijackers on board. Local and federal officials have been on high alert for hijackings after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in which four commercial planes were hijackers.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) Same here. I think he is a really great actor. Plus: My fiancee would actually go with me to a Bond movie if he was in it! Smart Fiancee! (It's the only way's go as well.)

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 06:50 AM) Hear anything more about this Nuke..? NBC had a link and it was somewhat cryptic. They went on and on that nothing was wrong, it was a mistake and then it went on about taking a "person of interest into custody."

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) Just to clarify, that was the title of the article. But I don't think it's that hot of a dress. The cut is awful (the straight waist skirt that sort of starts out of nowhere. It's not really even flattering on the model, so that's a bad sign. It showed up as a joke bridesmaid dress at another site where I post. I don't think one woman there thought it was a dress they or someone they knew would where (not just because it was slutty looking, but also because the dress itself was horrible looking).

And I thought the dresses when I went to prom were slutty looking.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) I hope Hugh Jackman becomes Bond. If he did, I might actually want to see it.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) My only beef with smokers that when a smoker I work with feels the need for a cigarette and does the following: Goes to find someone to smoke with - 5 mins Gets coat - 2 mins Waits for, then takes the elevator to the ground floor - 5 mins Walks outside - 2 mins Smokes - 5 mins Walks inside - 2 mins Waits for, then takes the elevator back to their floor - 5 mins Puts coat away - 2 mins That's 28 mins for one smoking break. And many take three a day. Plus they also make sure they take their full lunch. That's my beef as well. I want that/those break(s) as well.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) I've never gotten anything like this, and we do nearly all of our banking online. Where do they get the emails from..? It's kinda funny that Brian and I get these (Brian has gotten them as well) as we do almost none of our banking online and have never banked with Washington Mutual.

I received that several times and delete it without opening it. Okay, I opened it the first time and sent it to MSN abuse - not that MSN actually does anything about it.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) IMO you got what you deserve. To be honest I didn't have my first drink until after my 21st birthday and I'm better off for it. My dad died at 51. He was an alcoholic and had liver failure, not to mention tons of other problems. Take this as a warning, put down the booze, and get a hobby. I can sort of relate - my dad was an alcoholic until about 7 yrs ago. He has fallen off the wagon once or twice (but not much more than that). My dad still deals with the guilt of not being there for us when we were growing up. I guess having your 21 yr old daughter (how old I was when he almost died) have to take you back and forth from hospital to doctor to hospital finally got through to him. His cousin went through the same thing at the same time. He didn't put the bottle down and died 2-3 months later. I have a drink every now and then (as in a glass of wine about once a month or so), but when I get the urge to drink more than I should I have to fight it off and it sucks, but you learn to live with it.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) Yeah exactly, it might be something if they won. But the Vikings owned Green Bay so some shmuck (prolly the Packers org.) wasted money on a fight they can't win. In the playoff game (the one that counted more than the other two, granted), but GB won both regular season games, IIRC.

I think I should be able to catch someone of it after I get home from work/and then the gym.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) I embrace a Packer fan every day.....because I married one..... Come October, I too, will be married to a Packers fan lol. He was a cubs fan, but he is in recovery now. Being that he is a Mariners fan, our house is not a fun place to be during those series.

QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) My wife is just like you, Steff. She digs football. I like having her there. You can put me in that catagory as well. We've gone to a couple SB parties and I ended up getting more into the game than Brian lol.
