  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) A spot that can only be filled by someone that was on their 40 man on August 31 ^^^ I have only said that in this thread like 3 times
  2. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) But they cut Young after September 1, didn't they?? That makes an opening on the roster Yeah...what's your point Stairs had to be on the 40-man by August 31st. He wasn't, so he's not playoff eligible.
  3. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) Well it was bad managing regardless. When he wasn't stretched out, he should have been piggybacked w/ Vazquez until he was, and even if B-Mac tanks this year, it's progress. He's got more upside than Vazquez. I'd rather tank w/ a kid, than w/ dead weight. If you're going to blow the season, you might as well cut your losses and get him some work heading into 2007. Got more upside than Vazquez my ass. The only thing he has on Vazquez is age. Vazquez has experience and he's got hella ridiculous stuff. McCarthy's gonna be good, but his stuff does not even compare to Vazquez's.
  4. Well...they are two east coast teams, and the east coast pretty much controls the media, so...
  5. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) This move should've been made a long time ago, and it should've been Vazquez. Now, I'd say maybe Buerhle or Jose. You would have jumped to conclusions after 2 bad months of pitching to move McCarthy into the rotation for Vazquez. How much worse off would the Sox have been if they'd listened to you? There's a reason the rotation is what it is. McCarthy isn't stretched out enough to start right now anyways, so it would be pointless to try and make him into a starter this late in the season.
  6. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) no it isn't. Thornton has been your best reliever all year. He got into a little jam, but you have to have faith he'll get himself out of it. Last I checked, Jenks has been Ozzie's best reliever all year Why not stray away from common philosophy and use your best reliever - even if it is your closer - in that spot? That was a game changing moment, and if the Sox get out of that unscathed, it is a completely different ballgame.
  7. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) He's not eligible, unless they DL someone. Oh, wait, unless he takes Dmitri Young's spot He wasn't on the 40-man as of August 31st; therefore, he is not eligible for postseason play
  8. Which is the best rivalry? or Will the Twins make the playoffs, despite the loss of Francisco Liriano? What's the big deal? I don't get it
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 12:33 PM) If life was xbox, and I could make the lineup next year, I would try this one using only our pieces LF Sweeney 2B Iguchi RF Dye DH Thome 1B Konerko SS Crede C AJP 3B Fields CF BA I love the lineup, but I think I like Crede's glove too much at 3B to move him to SS. So instead... Sweeney - RF Iguchi - 2B Dye - SS Thome - DH Crede - 3B Pierzynski - C Fields - LF Anderson - CF
  10. QUOTE(korntownballa @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) Sweeney to RF, Dye as the DH If you're gonna do that, you may as well just blow up the whole f***ing team...which isn't going to happen
  11. This Oklahoma-Oregon game is a joke What horrible officiating
  12. He has actually been spotted out in the bullpen warming up in the 6th and 7th innings.
  13. this team is just so f***ing retarded Why cant you hit like this 2 days in a row?
  14. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) Detroit goes: 6-9 Sox go: 10-5 Hypothetically, the Sox sweep the Tigers when they come to Chicago... Tigers - 6-6 Sox - 7-5 It's not nearly as bad if the Sox can get lucky and play extremely well against Detroit
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) Uribe as a supersub is an interesting idea. I seem to remember Juan played the best baseball of his career when he first got here and was being moved around from 3B to SS to 2B on a daily basis. I wonder if he went back to having his job threatened, if he would find his focus a little bit more? I've wondered that myself too. He's just become THE starting SS for the White Sox...there's no pressure on him at all to produce whatsoever. I basically figured, even if it is Alex Cintron, who really doesn't have a chance to be the everyday SS, that may be enough. Put SOMETHING on him, rather then let him suck complete ass as a starter with him having no fear of losing his job. The only problem with it is his salary. If enough money is eliminated from the books, and the Sox can afford to have another SS plus Uribe on the bench, I think it would make a world of difference. I just don't see it happening.
  16. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 03:02 AM) With all due respect some of you sometimes think you know soo much and won't accept anybody else's take. OK so Fred is 14-9 instead of 14-6. The guy just flirted with a f***ing perfect game. But you think he's finished, he's toast. Think about what he did LAST YEAR. Sometimes I think you guys think the Sox will someday get 5 superior starters. Name one f***ing team in baseball with 5 superior starters??? Freddie Garcia is NOT a stiff. Sox fans are starting to remind me of fans of some college teams that act like their team is the ONLY one out there. My god. Freddie Garcia will have a job on any staff in baseball, why not ours??? Freddy's one month with an ERA below 4.00, and his one month with a WHIP below 1.40 disagree with the fact that he is a stiff. He's been awful this year. Any argument against it is, well, dumb. He's won games, but s***, if I got 8 runs a game or whatever Freddy's getting, and I could throw a mediocre fastball, a mediocre curve, and a mediocre change, I would win 14 games too. And Freddy is not going to have a job on the Sox staff next year because McCarthy can put up numbers just as good, if not better, for much, much, much less money than Garcia is making this year. Simple as that. If he were making $4 mill a year, he'd be great...at the $10 mill he's making next year? HAIL NO
  17. f*** Twins tie it up, 4-4, Hunter up Hunter flied out...going to the bottom of the 9th
  18. QUOTE(loltrain @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 06:59 PM) but as usual are bats have blown a couple chances to turn it into a rout already... Damn you and your reverse psychology
  19. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) Maybe the tribe hired Cora today No way they could have done that, Cora is never wrong. Atleast, that's what Hawk tells me.
  20. The Indians have one of the worst baserunning teams in the majors...I have no doubt about it. Did these guys not learn in like high school ball, let alone the minors, that you do NOT make the 1st or 2nd out at home? Marte grounded out to Punto at 3B, Luna ran home and got thrown out. Later in the inning, Gutierrez doubled to right center, Hunter got to it, made a perfect throw to the cutoff man, and Castillo threw a strike to home, gunning Marte down. WTF Indians got 1 though in the inning...up 4-2 on Santana
  21. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) Lol I missed that. What did they say? Hawk basically said "It's good to hear Bert Blyleven back doing games." DJ responded with a "Yep. Let's just hope he's cleaned up his act a bit." Much laughing about, and then Hawk went on a Bert for HOF speech(and Blyleven should be in the HOF, I'm really not sure why he isn't)
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) He is 4/7 career in stolen bases. 4/4 this year and 0/3 in 2004. In other words, probably not many, IMO. He could probably get a high percentage because he'd only be running if a pitcher was ignoring him. The only 2 guys on the White Sox who you put at the leadoff spot for steals are Podsednik and Pablo. The problem of course is Podsednik has been a disaster on the basepaths this season...lots of steals, but lots of CS as well. You put Ross Gload in the leadoff spot to get the extra 30-40 points of average and 100 or so points of OPS over Podsednik, sacrificing the spead for it. I kind of knew that...I was mainly just wondering what qwerty, or the rest of the board in general too, thought. Gload should so be leading off for this team right now. It'd be kind of like Jeremy Giambi leading off for the A's a couple years back, but dammit would he improve this lineup so much.
  23. So I had class today at 11...I woke up at 10:52 and about s*** my pants. Lucky me, I made it to class on time, running my ass off. (fwiw, I normally just would have not gone, except for the fact that we had a bunch of papers we needed to turn in...so I kinda wanted to do that)
