  1. WTF is up with 3Bman everywhere this year? Chavez, Lowell, Ramirez, and Beltre are all having very down years, and I'm sure I'm missing one or two others too...didn't Rolen start out not so hawt, but started coming around only to then land on the DL?
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 26, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Who said he was untradeable? I dunno Me -->
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 26, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) Scheurholtz without Cox and Mazzone is like Billy Beane without Hudson and Mulder. That will be proven wrong in a couple years. I prefer Scheurholtz:Cox and Mazzone::Beane:sabermetrics Both are unemployed
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 26, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) I understand the want for more offense, especially when we dont score a ton of runs, and we are used to it by now. But I think this infield, especially the left side, works well together and I think Crede's range is better than many think. He is a great player defensively and Uribe and Crede work well to establish a great defensive front. I wouldnt want to weaken the defense on an already defensively-dependent team. I can understand that argument. I see both sides of this issue very well. Why f*** with something that has worked so well? The offense has not been great, but whatever is working, is working. And then if you do make the trade I suggested above, you may have to make another trade then too...trying to fix something that is working awesome can sometimes cause for breakage. You would also be adding money into a spot that we really are already cheap at, and Crede's production thus far is better than Lowell's. Why add like $2 mill at 3B and then create a hole in the OF? In the end, I probably would make not move...but it is intriguing to think about, nonetheless.
  5. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ May 26, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) ANd you wanted him over Russ Ortiz.. Now that is Funny... KW offereing 3 years for 18mil.. Thats also funny. Since Russ Ortiz is doing so awesome too 4-3, 5.20 ERA, 1.81 WHIP, .305 BAA, K/BB of .75, K/9 of 3.75,
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 26, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) I'd rather have Crede, defensively he is superior But Crede does NOT have GG defense, and he does not save runs with his glove. He is a vaccuum over there, but is Choice-esque in that his range is next to nothing. Offensively, he is far inferior to a Mike Lowell. If the Sox could get him relatively cheaply, or perhaps even a bad contract for a bad contract(maybe something like Dye and Diaz for Lowell, with the Marlins then going to Cabrera at 3B, and an OF of something like that Conine/Encarnacion-Pierre-Encarnacion/Dye, with the Sox then trading Crede for a solid OFer who can just fill in for the year...or perhaps they package of bunch of s*** up for another OFer. I know one thing, Lowell is a guy I would not mind having on my team. He is streaky as hell(and he is probably just in one of those crazy funks right now), but when he is right, he is unbelievably good. As recently as last year, he put up an .870 OPS, so he is not done by any stretch of the imagination.
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 26, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) I wish I got hit in the head with a baseball.
  8. QUOTE(Be Good @ May 26, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) Who else are the Royals going to get. Brett would take up half there pay roll. This age of baseball it is nearly impossible for teams like the Royals to contend. Please explain to me then how the A's won 90+ games from 00-04, how the Twins have won the won 90+ games from 02-04, how the Marlins won the World Series in 03
  9. It would take a lot to get Bonderman, but to suggest he is untradeable is a little ridiculous. No player is untradeable - I'm sure even the White Sox would trade Jon Garland for the right package right now. Of course, the right package would include probably about $20 mill in money, someway or another, someone to take on Dye and his fugly ass contract, a stud RFer, a good SP to replace Garland, along with 2 bullpen arms and 2 prospects(hopefully Steinbrenner is listening) I would guess it would take the FG package * 2, talent wise. Probably 2 top 5 specs, and then 1 or 2 more top 20 specs. No team should want to pay that. So ya, he is pretty much untradeable.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 25, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) They're the team to beat until someone dethrones them. As of right now, I disagree completely. Going into the season, you were right in saying that, but after 47 games, it has been established that the White Sox are a very solid team and that they will not be going anywhere whatsoever. The fact that they are up in the division by 6 games also helps my reasoning that, right now, the Sox are the team to beat in the AL Central, and not the Twins. I also like to live in the moment, and not worry too much about the past.
  11. QUOTE(AirScott @ May 22, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) here's maybe the biggest compliment they'll receive all year: "They play hard. They're not very good, but they play hard." - John Kruk something needs to be done with these owners that refuse to spend money. if you don't have the desire for your team to win, why buy a baseball team? at least give them a chance, throw the fans a bone every few years. in the case of the Royals, "rebuilding" is just some bulls*** that they hide behind, because a good place to start rebuilding (or even prevent having to) is to keep a 28 year old 5-tool centerfielder. sorry, but I just need to vent, because the way I see it, is to get fans in the seats you need to make some effort to put a quality team on the field, or else fans just won't show up. but then I'm disproven by the good people of Miami, whose Florida Marlins can't crack the top 20 in MLB attendance, even the year after a World Series victory. Resigning 1 player for 7 years and $17 mill or so a season, especially considering he is a career .353/.489/.842 hitter is not only financial suicide for $60 mill payroll team(let alone a $35-45 mill team such as the Royals), but it kills what you can do with a team too. I know Glass should spend more on the team, but he doesn't, because you have to realize that the last time he opened the pocket book a little was last year...a year they lost 104 games. You also have to spend the money wisely. The Mets payroll is $100+ mill, the White Sox in the mid $60's, and the Marlins below $60 mill. The Mets are of course in 4th place in the NL East, the Marlins are in first place in the NL East, and the Sox are the best team in the majors.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 25, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) I thought Oakland was going to compete for the division title this year. :rolly The season is still young, of course, and while the A's are in last place, they are back 8.5 games. While 8.5 games is not a small amount of games by any stretch of the imagination, it is a smaller number to come back from then the 7.5 games the Twins came back from at the ASB in 03, with us down 7 games, of the Royals...the Royals were barely above .500 at the end of the year, while both the Sox and Twins made huge comebacks and overtook the Royals. To suggest that this same thing could not happen - to see an underachieving team finally get 'it' down the stretch, get hot, and end up playing .700 ball is not out of the realm of possibility. Sometimes, all it takes is 1 move. In the A's case, with as bad as the pitching staff has been, and as bad as the offense has been, it will take more than 1 move. However, they are very, very, very lucky that they are only 11 games under .500, which is quite sad to actually say, because if you are lucky to be 11 games under, you are really bad. Note that I am not saying that Beane is a genius, and he can do no wrong with this post. However, the one thing I liked about trading Hudson and Mulder is that it took some serious nuts to make the move. There are 29 other GMs in baseball that, in the same situation, would have kept atleast 1 of them. Ballsy of course does not always equate to genius or even smart, but that is something I did like. The season is looking not so good for them right now, but as CWS mentioned, they are looking good for the future. They have all kinds of pieces in place, including Blanton, Haren, Meyer, and Harden for the future of the pitching staff. With Harden already looking pretty good at the MLB level, with the exception of this DL stint, they are asking for 1 of those 3 to step up and be an ace in the future to have atleast a 1-2 combo, and if 2 of the 3 can, they are right back at square 1, with Hawk continuing to say "Any GM will look like a genius with 3 aces." That is all
  13. Crisco, plastic wrap, and boards, and aparently a few chairs too. Un-f***in-believable. These are completely harmless. What the f***. :fyou administration Now, continue on with your discussion
  14. Now that school is out, it will be 9-10 hours a day, cept that I have summer school, so probably 6 hours again. But during the actual school year this past year, it could be like 2:00-8:00, shower quick as f***, get to school at 8:25, sleep from 9:00-9:15, get to next class, sleep from 9:19-9:34, stay awake for a little bit, sleep some more in that class, and then sleep in 4th period too. I slept a lot in school this year. Only had a teacher just go f***in psycho on me 1 time too.
  15. The seniors this year like spray painted "f*** the Cops. f*** 'em" on a wall. That is it. Probably the lamest one I have ever heard of ever. They of course pull fire alarms too, which is so unoriginal it is not funny. However, last year's seniors prank was decent. It had nothing to do with the school, so that's what takes away from it, but regardless. Anyways, the Big Boy fast food place of course has the Big Boy statue out front, and it has been around 50 years or some s*** like that. The seniors took that statue down. Was pretty fun s***.

  18. QUOTE(Tmar28 @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) what? thats not kenny williams, that is just a person giving his thoughts on what the white sox should do. you know, giving his opinion. Posters I want gone: Cubs Suck23 Tmar28
  19. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) dunn isnt that good, but id rather have him than dye The Reds are one of your favorite teams, and you think that Dunn is not that good? Good call
  20. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) Joe Crede Timo Perez Luis Viscanizo Lets bring up Brian Anderson put Hernandez in the bullpen when he gets back and make B Mac a starter and make a trade for a new 3rd baseman Kenny, there is no need to tell us, just go and do it. Oh wait...
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) Honel = nothing. I am sure they would like him. Fair trades off of course
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) No thanks, you can keep him now, I want Brandon to stay, he is the man. Although, I would give up Honel or Tracy and Crede, but that would be with fair trades off. Dammit, I misread your post and had a lengthy one written out...lol, oh well. Agreed a lot. I love Chavez, but I want to keep BMac, especially with Fields in the minors. An ace and a suitable 3Bman >>> a decent starter and an elite 3Bman
  23. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 24, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) maybe he's just lost at the dish? I don't think accusing him of steroid use is really fair. I also doub that getting of steroids would be largely responsible for a BA drop of over 100 points Agreed completely. No one is accusing Jermaine Dye of steroids, so why throw accusations towards Victor?
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) What about Eric Byrnes from the A's? I know that they were shopping him in the offseason. Couldn't he be a possibility. The A's have been shopping Byrnes, and have almost traded him before(I believe he was rumored to go to Zona and the Mets). And to add on to that point, the Cubs were also very interested in Dotel too. To take away from that, Oakland is not in the NL There are about a million possibilities out there, so someone on here will get it right
  25. OMG JUAN LIED TO DERREK LEE, WHAT A MEANIE. HE SHOULD SAY SORRY AND BUY HIM A COOKIE NOW, SO THAT WAY WE CAN ALL BE FRIENDS! This is seriously something Paulie need not take to the media and rather take to the clubhouse. If you have a problem with it, confront the team about it...but there is nothing dirty about the play, nothing bush about it. He is not cheating - he is using Derrek Lee's own stupidity and lack of baseball fundamentals to save a run. I mean, this kind of play essentially won the 91 World Series for the Twins. Without the DP deke, the Braves probably win that game.
