  1. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) I think if you watch Torii play everyday, you know he plays hard. On Saturday, He made an amazing catch running striaght into the centerfield wall. He didnt leave the game. He has always been like that. And if you have a team filled with those sort of players, its a good chance you will win a lot of games. A lot of you earlier this year said you wanted some respect because the WS have been winning. You get a little and some of you dont want it know. I dont understand it Don't try. Sox fans tend to always want to b**** about something. Ever notice how they will just lose a game on here some night, and even still being as good as we have been, we are b****ing? Just our nature is all. I too watch Hunter play everyday...love watching him. Busts his ass, money player, and he does what he can to help spark the team(even if it means going out of his way to plow Jamie Burke). He can be a classy guy at times, but I wil never forget his ghetto comment(ghetto from Arkansas?)...and he did go out of his way to hit Burke, something I will still hold to this day. He did accomplish his goal, because the Twins ran away with the division after that. One thing that gets me is that people say losing Maggs and Frank killed the Sox last year...while losing them did not help, I feel it was no coincidence that the team went into an 8-18 skid like starting with the Burke game last year. The Sox were a .500 team or so without those 2...they were never a sub-.333 W% team.
  2. QUOTE(-Fish Fan- @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Lots of the Marlins players have been unhappy with Jack. His job is safe, though. Marlins owner, Jefferey Loria and GM Larry Beinfest stated that in a meeting. I don't really want Jack to go, but the Marlins hitting coach, Bill Robinson needs to be on the next train to Canada or some place that isn't Miami. Maybe it's just me, but if you want your team to win, shouldn't you do your absolute best to try and keep your players happy?
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) And Willie is now hitting .237. I have a feeling that he will be sent down once Gload is healthy. I also don't think much of Willie's ability to play SS. WHY THE f*** CAN'T IT BE TIMO?
  4. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) do you have the solo album by chris? No, but I intend to buy it whenever I see it. I've listened to it quite a bit, and I do like it. A lot.
  5. You find somehow to trade Shingo for a solid piece, and bring him in, and I wouldn't care. Always have liked Brower.
  6. Dumb topic, STFU noob, no one cares To me, it still means very little...as it always has. It fries me a little bit, but nothing too major. The Sox have 42 wins, more than any other team in the majors...that is about all I care about. BTW, welcome aboard!
  7. QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) Its just hard to take anyone serious when you got to one extreme to another in a game or so. We have the best record in base, but Ozzy is a moron and we're stuck with him for another 3 years..Neal Cotts has been a bad relief pitcher and now all of a sudden we want him closing games for us...Hermanson has been one of the best closers in the AL this year and he's not getting 1-2-3 innings for us anymore and now we should trade for a closer now..Cause that ERA has ballooned almost to 2 You can't start whining cause Hermanson hasn't been lights out the past 3 or 4 games he's pitched in a season of 162 games. That's ridicules..You're judging him for a week or less of games. Now how does that sound to you? Hey, i guess I'm a moron for trying to keep things in perspective rather then crying wolf through our so called 'Crisis' of Hermanson. For starters, I've never said Cotts should close, and I've been saying quite a bit all year that I would be very much for bringing in atleast another setup guy to help strengthen the pen even more than it already is(I've mentioned Billy Wagner a bagillion times on here, even though that won't happen anymore with f***in Philly getting back in the race) Also, I'm saying right now Hermanson is shaky, or unreliable, because of his past 7-8 outings, where he has been mediocre at the very best. 7-8 times is a lot.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) Pujols might get $27 million, but I don't know if it will be from StL. He'd be about the only one that would be close to worth it, and even then, he doesn't play nearly as demanding a position as ARod did either.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) You are lucky that hermanson has been mostly giving up unearned runs lately.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Did you post this before hermanson was brought in? He posted it like 7 hours before the game started
  11. QUOTE(robin_ventura_eternal @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) politte just seems hot right now. last night hermanson looked somewhat shaky in comparison to past closings where you knew it was over before he threw a pitch. keep throwing politte in, i say. Wish you were managing tonight in the bottom of the 9th
  12. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) Some of the greatest games ever created came out for the GC Greatest ever?
  13. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) Hermanson has blown 1 save and he isn't reliable. Unreal. I honestly can't believ that after all the Hermanson love, 1 blown save will change people's minds. No, Hermanson is unreliable right now because of numbers that have been posted atleast 3 times in this thread already(5 runs in his last 7 outings). You call that reliable?
  14. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) He never had numbers close to last year in a big time pitchers park. He finally puts up huge numbers last year. Why is that? Oh ya, his contract year. Now he will go back to his underachieving self at another insane pitchers park. He won't sniff .300 this year. It is sad how often players do so well in their contract year and go back to blowing like they previously had. What is sadder is that teams continue to give these guys huge ass contracts too
  15. I wanna just bust out singing 'Sunglasses at Night' so badly right now
  16. I kind of just want this s*** to die. Almost tempted to lock the thread before anything escalates
  17. Halladay should start. No doubt about it. Doesn't mean that Garland isn't a top 2 SP in the AL this year.
  18. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Out of Exile is more like Cornell's solo album, and less like Audioslave's first. I dig the solo album, and i dig the new Audioslave.....It's not what i expected but it's still good. I was actually thinking something along those lines. It is a good album...I like the sound of it...but basically, it's exactly what you said - I wasn't expecting it at all.
  19. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) So I guess he quit baseball, feel bad for him... Why? He probably accomplished one of his lifelong goals in playing in the MLB, and to top it off, he had a game winning hit in the MLB too. He also was not good at all. No need to feel bad for him at all.
  20. If we're talking about things that bug us, I would like to throw out the fact that notification on certain things is slow. Whether it be about suspension, a thread being closed, a warning, or any other type of thing, I think I'd like to see the entire mod and admin group do a better job of notifying people very shortly afterwards. That is all
  21. So the Twins drafted Kyle Carr in the 31st round This of course means something to me because he pitched for my high school, though actually attended school in the town of Linton, is like a town of 2,000. So that's kinda cool. Basically guaranteed to be a superstar now atleast.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) I guess they forgot that the Rockies have one of the best offenses in baseball while playing in Coors...or that they've never been swept at home this year ... Oh yeah, and they forgot that the Sox have stuck it to the Twins repeatedly this year. That is what I refer to as pwn3r3d
  23. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Here are my realistic trade ideas... 1.) First, play Carl Everett in LF some more and show other teams that he can get the job done there. 2.) Trade LF Carl Everett to the Atlanta Braves for LHP John Foster[/url] and a pitching prospect. The Braves desperately need some offense in their outfield before they fall out of the division race entirely. We get another lefty for the bullpen so there's less pressure on Marte. 3.) Trade 2B Willie Harris, OF Joe Borchard, and the Atlanta prospect to the Pittsburgh Pirates for UTIL Rob Mackowiak. The Pirates are out of the division race once again and will be sellers at the deadline. Mackowiak is under a 1-year deal for only $1.5 million but he will be due more money in arbitration after the great season he is having. The Pirates could use a 2nd baseman and leadoff hitter in Willie and hope that Borchard becomes a decent power-hitting outfielder. They would also receive the Braves' pitching prospect that we obtained in the earlier Everett trade. The Pirates can always use young, cheap pitching talent. Some people may not want to trade Willie but the addition of Mackowiak would make him expendable. Mackowiak is a lefty bat that can play 2nd base. 4.) Mackowiak can hit for some power, get on base, run the bases, and play many positions (3B, 2B, LF, CF, RF). He could platoon with Crede at 3rd base, platoon with Iguchi at 2nd base, and also play the outfield some days. He would negate the need for Timo on our roster because he's a lefty bat that can play the outfield. Once Gload is healthy, Ross could replace Timo on the roster and our roster would be set. Willie alone could have more value than Mackowiak. Why give up other players you do not have to, even if they are not-so-good? I'm also not sure what use Pittsburgh would have for Willie in the first place anyways...I believe they have 2Bman(Hill and like a Castillo or something like that), Jack Wilson at SS, and similar player to Willie in Tike Redman Another thing...please stop with the mocking of his trade idea...it's a bit ridiculous and out of line. I myself have mocked sox-r-us about Vinny Castilla(cuz he's Vinny frickin Castilla), but atleast he is not just talking about trading for players just because they are good. He has backed his case up with legitamate arguments and there is always a chance that a 4th place team looking to get younger could trade one of its bigger pieces away for a package of good young prospects. With the way thing are going in New York with the Yanks being under .500 and in 4th place, trading players away is not something that just comes out of left field...I still have no doubt you could see about the entire team traded away. Guys like Sheff, Flash, Stanton, Quantrill, perhaps Tino, Brown, and possibly others too could all be tradeable in a month. Personally, I just don't think there is anyways that the Yanks will trade ARod. A complete NTC, an unbelievable large salary, and the fact that he is still in his prime and that he is probably the Yankees building block for atleast the next 5 years along with him doing very well all contribute to him probably being untradeable. I just do not see it happening.
  24. :banghead See, what's sad is that he's not joking
  25. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) God I would love Burroughs. What a friggin stud. Where the f*** have you been? Anyways, I agree atleast a little with qwerty here. If we were to acquire Guardado, I wouldn't want Hermy being the full-time closer, not with just 1 RHP in the bullpen behind him in Politte(unless you count Viz and Shingo in all of their horribleness, and I do not). Shingo also has to use his pitches more effectively. It's not always location...Johan Santana can be locating his pitches poorly, but he knows when to use those pitches. Shingo has been f***ing that up all year.
