  1. If I said the article sucked ass, what would you do? Just kidding. That article was b****in'. Someone in the Sox front office should see that for sure. It very well could happen too.
  2. So you could say his name in the same breath as Carlos Beltran, Jim Edmonds, Andruw Jones, Torii Hunter, Mike Cameron, Johnny Damon, and all the rest? I don't think so. I highly doubt he is considered a top 10 or top 5 OF by the end of the year. A lot of people on here do realize that, especially older Sox fans. They have gotten to watch Frank Thomas for about the past 15 years, and Frank Thomas is probably the most notoriously slow starter in White Sox history. You cannot, however, compare Aaron Rowand to guys like ARod or Giambi. Both of those players have had multiple 40 homers seasons, both have MVP's, and both are making 8-digit figures a year because they have done s*** to earn it. Rowand hasn't. He's not making a 7-figure salary, he does not have multiple double digit homer seasons(in fact, I don't think he's ever hit 10 homers in a season), he does not have an MVP. This may be true. But if it doesn't happen this year, it could and probably will happen with another team. Uribe is looking like a very solid ballplayer for us and Reed is waiting in the wings probably salivating at a shot to hit major league pitching. Notice that both are potential replacements for Rowand and Harris.
  3. They'll draft Kevin Martin from Western Kentucky
  4. As I said before I want the Sox to play them so badly. I cannot wait until late May when I go to the roller dome and yell my ass off for the Sox.
  5. I think they'll be solid...70-80 wins or so. Not a team that will win a division, but a team you do not want to face. And on another note...Colon gets the s*** kicked out of him by an AL Central team. He did that quite a bit last year too.
  6. f***....Twinkies take a 1-0 lead on a Justin Miller base hit. As I type, the Twins score another. 2-0 Twins. I HATE the f***ing Twins
  7. But they suck, so you could use them and they wouldn't do anything
  8. But your secret powers suck
  9. I was young when it happened too. I found out about it and was shocked. Just curious...have you heard about the Cubs minor leaguer that threw at(and I believe killed) and endangered bird?
  10. "What have you done for me lately?" The meaning of that saying is simple. It comes right out and says it. However, it holds true for former managers. People view JM as a bad manager because quite frankly he was a bad manager in 2002 and 2003. Those teams had all kinds of talent, but they didn't win. JM could not get through to those teams and they never won on a consistent basis. However, in 2000 and 01, JM was a good manager, just as you have brought up. I think why people bring JM up and bash him is because he was a bad manager in 2003, last year, and that year hurt. In fact, to me, 2003 still hurts. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I won't forgive JM, because I have nothing to forgive him for. He had no control of that team. There was nothing he could do except put people in the lineup and put pitchers in and take them out when he needed. He could not get through to that team. If Oz manages that team last year, they could have been World Series champs. He is getting through to the team like no one I have seen(then again, I have not seen a lot). If the JM of 2000 or 01 is managing that team, they could have been World Series champs. We just had a bad manager, that's all. That was the difference between going to the playoffs and not. If it is any easier...with JM of 00 and 01(and before that), we probably win this game today. With JM of 02 or 03, we don't.
  11. Just thinking about that makes me think of an image that was posted here. Something to do with a sports page in Chicago, and the huge headline in bold is "Sosa homers twice in loss" and in the lower left corner there is a small headline that says "White Sox win World Series; beat Cubs 4 games to 1." It's funny cuz it's (probably) true!
  12. Juan Uribe is to us what Lew Ford is to the Twins - a guy who is playing too well to send down or bench. It is one hell of a problem to have.
  13. I said it was kind of sick for a reason. But Sox-in-04 is a great example of the power of the Chicago media. You haven't heard about Ben Christiansen. I can almost guarantee you that if he was drafted by the Sox, you would have heard about it.
  14. I hope they get the #1 and trade it to the Bills. Whoops, wrong sport.
  15. I think all these power rankings are stupid, personally. They are adjusted on a week-to-week basis, or atleast are at this point in the season. Tell me where we are come June or July, and then I'll see if they are accurate.
  16. Not really. It's kind of sick.
  17. Couldn't agree more. You just watch them and you know that they want it. Teams like that are dangerous. In other words, we are one of the most dangerous teams in the league right now.
  18. And ideal OF for me would be Barry Bonds in LF, Jim Edmonds in CF, and Vlad Guerrero in RF. But I'll take Lee, Reed, and Ordonez too, I suppose.
  19. I do believe you are correct
  20. So I assume you would rather have Kelly Dransfeldt playing 2B, correct? When Jose comes off the DL, Harris should have more limited playing time. And why should we give up on Harris. You never know. One second he sucks ass, the next he looks like Kenny Lofton Jr. And I can tell you that Kenny Lofton, in his prime, was as big a force offensively as quite a few guys just because of his great ability to get on base and score runs, be it stealing, taking extra bases on hits, etc. You can NOT just give up on Harris. However, Willie IS at the make or break point of his career with the White Sox. That's not saying he couldn't go to say Montreal or Tampa Bay and resurrect his career and turn into Kenny Lofton part deux. He sucks as a starter. As a reliever, you never know until you try it. BTW, if Harris and Wright are "recycled prospects", what in the hell makes you think we can get good prospects for them? If it was that easy, we'd all be GMing. It's a good thing you are GMing. He shortens his swing up, and he could be a pretty damn good hitter. Some guys just take a little longer(Raul Ibanez for example). He is losing his status as a prospect, but that doesn't mean he is losing his talent.
  21. I don't have the stats on me, but I've seen his past stats against different hitters in the lineup. He's been very good against those in the top and heart of the order, but bad against the bottom 3rd. The most likely reason why is that he loses concentration constantly and just doesn't respect the lower 3rd. In the bullpen, his focus would always be high, he would constantly be concentrating...that to go along with some solid stuff on the mound - he could be damn good from the bullpen. All he has to do is go 1 inning at a time. Many people feel, myself included, that if he goes 1-2 innings at a time, he will be a fairly effective pitcher.
  22. We probably didn't get our 5th walk-off win last year until September...or at the very earliest, August. And I'm still trying to figure out how the hell we won this game.
  23. 1. How do we know they're in contention come June or July? With Boston and New York both in the division, and knowing that New York will start playing better at some time, some one has to fall. I personally doubt Baltimore is in contention come June or July. They have a huge lack of pitching, and their bullpen is being used quite a bit right now. It will wear out, and most likely sooner(June or July) than later(August or September) 2. That could be worked out. Let him finish the year here, and then he can either resign with Baltimore in the offseason or resign with us, play that year with us, and then resign with Baltimore for a farewell campaign. 3. This is very true. A lot of this does depend on Konerko and what type of numbers he has. I did point out that Konerko would have to be dealt, and I did propose Anaheim, though we would probably have to take on Erstad's contract. At that point, we could trade for a starter, and we could potentially have any starter in the league because of Erstad's contract. If we got Washburn, taking on another pitcher's contract would not be such a huge deal. We could take up to $8 mill or so on the payroll(or in other words, if the Phillies are out, which I highly doubt, we could get Billy Wagner if we pulled a string here or there). Maybe look at Ryan Klesko in San Diego and then work a deal with Detroit to get Urbina. There are numerous possibilities. BTW...I highly doubt Anaheim does Konerko for Washburn AND Erstad. We would need to give them something in return...say Neal Cotts. Personally, I would make a Konerko and Cotts for Washburn and Erstad deal.
  24. Don't f***ing worry about f***in swearing. We all f***ing swear all the f***ing time.
  25. Twins win. 3-run homer for Jones with the score tied 4-4. 7-4, and we will remain in 2nd place
