The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle
witesoxfan replied to C.Rector's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ahem... C.Rector...it's a point you've brought up before. If you bring it up in June and MB is 4-6 4.60 or so, then your point will be considered. Until then, it will not, and it will be spit on and stepped on and you will have jabs thrown at you for bringing it up after Buehrle's FIRST and thus far ONLY bad outing all year, so get the f*** off the soap box. ...so, until June, don't bring it up. Mmmmkay? -
$6 mill this year, $9 mill this year, for most likely .300 30 100 .850 if we're lucky. The Cards are getting about that from Reggie Sanders...for $3 mill a year. Get what we're saying here?
-
Only thing you can do on those nights are throw it harder, throw it with less hook, or move left, or a combination of the 3. Sucks ass when they start off drier then popcorn, and usually the only place they can go from there are drier and drier. That's only one of the reasons bowling is harder then it looks.
-
I do it, but I don't know if Tampa does.
-
Konerko, Lee, Koch(about $20 mill combined), for Delgado($18 mill), plus a decent starter(Pat Hentgen? Miguel Batista? Josh Towers? all would look decent as our #5), and we bring up Reed, our lineup is... Harris/Uribe - 2B Reed - LF/Rowand - CF Maggs - RF Delgado - 1B(IMO, he's a better hitter then Frank, so putting him at 4 makes more sense then Thomas at 4, plus we get a better balance like this IMO) Thomas - DH Valentin - SS Rowand - CF/Reed - LF Olivo/Alomar - C Crede - 3B Rotation of Buehrle, Loaiza, Garland, we'll say Hentgen, and Scho...and we can still trade for an ace too. Bullpen loses a little depth, but IMO actually gets better. If we could get Lightenberg/Lopez/Speier from Toronto too, it makes it even better(I'll say we don't though, because it would be unlikely we would get one of those 3, just because Toronto would practically be giving us players...but in all reality, we could get one), so I'll say the pen is something like Marte, Politte, Shingo, Adkins, Cotts, Jackson, and Wright, with Wunsch ready to take over if anyone gets into a rut. If we ever did get Huff(I still wouldn't mind him), he'd bat in the #6 spot, and everyone would just move down a spot from there. But at that point, Huff would be unnecessary. We would have the LH bat we needed, and holy hell is Delgado a LH bat. He can only bust 4 homers out for you in a game like he did last year. At some point later, I'd trade for an ace(or at the very least, a postseason starter) somehow, someway(RJ/Kipper/Joel Piniero/Moyer/etc, etc). Works for me, works financially...hell, let's do it right now.

We won't need Perez for much more then this year. The thing I hadn't though of is where LA would put Lee. Roberts is in LF right now(and he picked up his 13th SB today), Bradley in CF, Encarnacion in RF, and Green at 1B, and they don't have the DH in the NL(duh)...where do you put Lee? Maybe LA isn't an option in the first place.
-
I'm all for giving Shingo his shot, just not as closer. And if we trade Crede and Cotts for Huff, a trade of Lee to LA for Perez is essential. Sort of like love and marraige...you can't have one without the other(though even that isn't entirely true...if we traded Lee to LA for Perez, we would not necessarily have to trade Crede and Cotts for Huff...just what I would want to happen).
-
I think LA accepts Lee-for-Perez, and you have wanted to get Perez for quite osme time, have you not? Wright is demoted to the pen, a rotation of Buehrle-Loz-Perez-Garland-Scho is put into place. Where's the weak link there? The pen is Marte, Politte, Shingo, Koch, Wunsch, Adkins, Jackson...I see 2 lefties, and that's about all we need. What's the big loss in Cotts? I'm not seeing it.
-
I'll wait until June or July to determine who if a team is in(unless that team has looked as completely s***ty as the Royals have, whom I already said are out of it). The Indians are pretty much toast too.
-
If Shingo is ever closing for us, we are f***ed. I like Shingo, and he seems like a solid middle reliever, but he is not a closer in the major leagues. Marte/Politte are closers(and though I bring up those two, I am not suggesting that a closer has to throw it hard, just that those are the only two who look like they could have that closer mentality). How about we just trade for Urbina then too, and he can close for us.
-
I assume they made the move because Uribe to them was what Miles was to us.
-
You take that lineup, Buehrle, Loaiza, Perez, Garland, and Scho, along with a pen of Marte, Politte, Koch, Shingo, Adkins, Wunsch, and Jackson, and that's a solid-ass team; at the very least, a post-season team, and with another ace pitcher(be it Perez maturing again, Garland coming together, or Scho doing it, or just flat out going out and getting one), that could very well be a World Series team too. I would still like a little more bullpen depth. I think the pen is overacheiving right now, so getting a stud reliever would not be a bad idea...if Seattle continues to suck, I would not mind Hasegawa or Guardado(assuming they took on some of Guardado's salary).
-
They can have him too. I'll take Jose and Uribe. Thank you very much.
-
I'm all for trading Lee for Odalis Perez. Whether that happens or not is unknown. But to GET prospects along with Huff for ONLY Crede? I don't think so. Huff is proven, has put up pretty damn good numbers before, and the Devil Rays have the leverage here, not us. They do NOT have to give up Huff. We are the ones in contention who are wanting Huff to help us go a long ways. It would probably cost us atleast Crede and Cotts.... ...and I would make that move... ...in a heart beat.
-
He's even hitting too. A pretty good .317 average with a .377 OBP along with a middle of the pack .774 OPS. Then again, he is in Colorado.
-
I think we found our new leadoff hitter. .455 AVG with a .538 OBP with none on, no out? Those are pretty good numbers.
-
I should add that I've seen the incredibly weak and/or streaky hitter...Big Mo. He started off solidly last year, and went down the crapper right away. I like Olivo though, but to say he isn't streaky or that he won't be streaky is wrong at this point.
-
I'll do it. You look at our lineup... Harris/Uribe - 2B Valentin - SS Maggs - RF Thomas - DH Huff - 3B Lee - LF Konerko - 1B Rowand - CF Olivo/Alomar - C ...and I'm still trying to figure where our incredibly weak hitter is in that lineup who is streakier then hell. So we give up a good young lefty...big deal. We call up Wunsch to be the other lefty out of the pen then. What is so bad about that move?
-
I still say we trade Crede for Aubrey Huff and be done with it. Huff brings .30 30 100 .900 to the table right now, and the most important part of those stats is that he brings it from the left-side of the plate. Huff doesn't bring GG defense to 3B, but he'd be solid enough, and that power that he would bring would be very nice to have at the 5th spot in our lineup.

Matt Clement has a no-no going on right now:

Maybe more Sosa's killing the ball too...he should be good for 60-70 homers this year. -
I bet Royce Clayton does
-
I would like more depth in the bullpen, but it has been fine so far. Get a good pitcher for the 5th spot in the rotation(be it Cotts or a starter brought in), move Wright into the pen, and you have a pretty solid pen.
-
I would have to say KC. I say that mainly because of the fact that we were down and out and in recent years would have curled up into a ball and died. This year we fight back and win. All 3 were very ugly though.
-
Hell of a game. What a way to win the series!

Holy s***. I'm wondering what in the f*** Oz is doing 2 minutes ago, and now I want to make love to the man(not literally). f*** YEAH
