Doesn't mean that one player can f*** up hugely and lose the game single-handedly. And vice versa. I'd like a happier mood, but once you make note of the pessimisim or "realism" and you bring it up, it seems people get worse.
-
Atleast. There were two massive tubs of goo on the mound tonight. I don't know how much one mound can take.
-
The vision was the Sox staying hot for the rest of the year. Last I checked, the "rest of the year" includes the playoffs. Do you know how f***ing awesome that would be? (knocks on wood) I better wait and see what happens.
-
Holy s***. That's f***ing incredible. Where does this vision end, Bmr(or should I say, oh great one? )
-
Some of us ain't happy unless we're b****ing about something. There's nothing wrong with that, that's just the way some people are.

I'd still do would give him $12 mill. He is a horse. If he ever wanted to, he could become a very, very dominant pitcher. Doesn't matter though. The Yankees will give him more. He'll need to have special feelings for Chicago to stay here, and I don't see it happening.

HELL YEAH!

Sox schedule so much tougher then Twins and KC
witesoxfan replied to KeithFranklin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't give a s*** how much tougher their schedule is than ours. The best team will win this division; enter the Chicago White Sox. I think we will be the team to come out and dominate these last few games against the Twinks and Royals. Also, do not underestimate the Indians and the Angels. The Indians have a very tough, very young team. To tell you the truth, they scare the s*** out of me. And the Angels are the defending champions. They are still a pretty good team. I love our chances. -
If we got Colon for roughly $30 mill for 3-years, or Colon wanted to stay here for that price, and JR turned him down, I would be pissed. Doesn't matter. We could offer him a 3-year, $42 mill contract, and the Yanks would one-up us and offer him another mill per year. They say the pinstripes add 5 pounds....like you'll be able to tell with Bartolo anyways.
-
Did not know that. That is, undoubtedly, a very, very, very scary thing.
-
Yeah, looks like I'm gonna have to cancel that and call everyone else but me the winner in that one. Damn I screwed up. Didn't have enough time or the organization to make that league a good one.

Agreed whole heartedly. These owners are doing it the wrong way. They seem to be following the Carl Pohlad method, that being, spend nothing on your team, hoping your team is good one year, and keeping all the good players in town. It was not that long ago that ARod signed a 10-year, $252 mill contract, and in that first year, he made more money then the Twins had in 2000(I think....it was something like that). That is not the way you should do it.....you do it that way, and eventually you will be successful, but it could take 10, 20, 30+ years. The way you need to start it is to get a franchise player and you need to build around him. The Royals did it with Mike Sweeney, the Expos have done that with Vlad Guerrero, our White Sox have done it with Frank Thomas and, to an extent, Magglio Ordonez. I could probably go on and on, but I don't wanna waste the time. It is truly incredible. I remember seeing the NL Wild Card standings last night....8 teams were within 4 games. That's just not right.

If we can get Robby back, we have to get Jose back. Those two play an incredibly smooth and beautiful 2B and SS. Also, I am positive that Gordon has an option and that Schow is here next yaer guaranteed(unless he is traded).
-
This has probably already been pointed out, but since I've been gone...... Where are all the haters who said "This team has no chance", "Just give up", and "When does football season start?" I told someone that if the Sox got back into the race that I was going to dish out some serious crow. So, I'm dishing it out right now.

We still don't have a shake head smiley, do we? If we did, I would have known about it.

Don't know if you noticed I was gone for several days. Just got moved into the new house in Bismarck, and I start school on Wednesday. I had no cable access whatsoever, so that meant no internet and no tv for about 3 or 4 days. This is the first time I have gotten in in like 4 or 5 days. The site has definately changed and it looks great....good job guys. And it was very nice opening up the newspaper(since that was my only access to the outside world without going to somewhere else with a TV) to the sports section and seeing "White Sox take AL Central lead" or "White Sox pound Rangers 7-1, increase division lead" or "White Sox crush Rangers 13-2" (or for that matter seeing "Royals give Twins another beating" or "Twins give a Royal beating", etc). A lot of s*** has happened in these past 4 or 5 days. For starters, the first thing I did as a resident of North Dakota was meet Senator Byron Dorgan....that was pretty neat. Also, don't know if anyone has heard about it, but the former South Dakota governor and current SD Congressman Bill Janklow killed a biker driving his car. Janklow wasn't drinking that night, but he did run a stop sign, and he went through it going 70(or so they think, because there was some kind of black box or something in his vehicle, and they were able to figure out an estimate of the speed of his vehicle). Also, I have been introduced to, quite possibly, the stupidest law in the entire world. In North Dakota, you cannot go into a bar unless you are 21...no exceptions. That means if I wanted to eat in a sports bar, I'd have to drive out of state to do so. That is the biggest load of crock ever. That's f***ing terrible. Anyways, I just thought I'd check in. Oh, I also saw in the newspaper a guy named Sullivan pitch for the White Sox....and there was nothing in the transactions. I had to go to my dad's office to figure s*** out...found out we traded for Scott Sullivan. Neat s***....I like that trade. He's good(isn't he? )
-
He apparently has a short memory.
-
I don't give a s*** what his numbers are against a certain lefty. Point blank, he kills lefties. You could throw Randy Johnson out there, and I bet he'd have decent success off of him. As for which Frank I'd have.....with this team....I'd rather have the old one at all times.
-
America did win last year, I know that. Some kid from Louisville hit a homer, and that was the only run of the game.

Game Thread (8-18): Disney vs. Chisox

We lost 5 of our last 6 after that AB too Killa, why do you have to be so pessimistic? -
Jas, two things about Benetiz....for starters, I wouldn't want him. He brings the same kind of gas that Koch brings....the kind of gas that gets lit up. Secondly, he would have costed up Gordon or Marte. Wasn't gonna happen, and I'm glad it didn't.
-
Hey, I hate to take credit for something that didn't actually happen, but was that no-no through 6 innings really a reality check and it did wake up atleast Frank's bat?
-
You know what I noticed? You can't have a lefty throw against Thomas in the 9th or later at home. The Twins did it with Guardado, and the Angels did it with Washburn. Same result, both times. Fought some pitches off, including one that was, as Hawk would call it, a ball that is "the right size, but the wrong shape", and he then finished it off with a homer. Frank is tough as hell in the 9th against lefties.

You and me have had some weird ass predictions come true this year. Excellent

Game Thread (8-18): Disney vs. Chisox
witesoxfan replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't know if anyone has said it yet, but I figured I'd say it. Part of me hopes we do get no-hit tonight. I'm gonna be rooting my ass off for the White Sox, hoping we do get a rally going, but if we get no-hit, it will be a reality check. I think if we get no-hit tonight, we will win the division. Remember when the Yankees got no-hit? Remember what happened shortly after that? That's right, they went on a hot-streak. I think that's what we'll do too.
