Did we have a homer tonight?
-
i concur I do not. There is NO, I repeat, NO pressure on Neal right now. There is pressure on Jimmy Gobble in KC, because he is replacing Jose Lima in the rotation, who has been the ace of that staff. That's pressure. Neal is in the #5 spot in the rotation, where he will work when he is the freshest arm in the rotation, and all he has to do is give the team 5 or 6 strong innings and giving the team a chance to win. If he gives up 5 runs and we lose 5-3, is that his fault he lost? I don't think so. If Neal can't get the job done, he will be sent back to AA. How hard is that to understand? In my mind, you can experiment with a pitcher in the #5 spot, since we will only need him 2 or 3 more times. I would rather have Neal out there and Danny in the bullpen instead of having Danny in the rotation and having ????? in the pen. Danny's got one of the better arms in the upper levels. No way would I want a good arm rottting away in the #5 slot in the rotation instead of being in the bullpen where help is needed.

We've tried Dan again and again and again....and he has done nothing out of the starters role. Do like you said, and just use him out of the pen. Give Neal one more shot at it, and if he fails again, just say, hey you tried your hardest and that couldn't get it done, don't worry about it. I don't want Wright starting anymore. Try Cooper or Diaz, assuming they're healty, or trade for a starter via the waiver wire. There will be someone available. Possibly Livan Hernandez, Kevin Jarvis, players like that. Wright is fine in the pen, and he should be groomed as the closer next year. If at all possible trade Koch in a deal too.

I think we have all pretty much undoubted, if you will, Loaiza after what he did in May. Before this year, he had a history of having a great April(he has a career ERA of under 3.00 in April IIRC), and then tanking big time in May(his career ERA in May, coming into this year, had to of been something like over 6.00 or 7.00). Once he got through May, pretty much unscathed(he had one of his 2 or 3 bad starts of the year against Seattle then), there were no doubters. You can usually count on one bad start a month, and his bad starts are nothing like Garland's, Colon's, or Buehrle's bad starts. His bad starts are like 5 or 6 innings, with 4 or 5 runs given up. That's a great start from most #5 pitchers, and is a relatively decent outing for most aces. And that is a BAD outing for him. If he doesn't get the Cy Young.....I'll probably be doing some of this....

Here's what I see Carlos Lee OF CHW Signed Jan 2002 - 2 years/$6.9M 2002: $2.7M 2003: $4.2M 2004: Arbitration eligible I take it by them saying arb eligible that we can offer him arb, but if he does not accept, he is a FA. If he does, we have him next year. Simple as that.
-
AHEM. 6-3 Sox
-
Same price, I assume? Carl, but I offer both arbitration(so that way, if Lee decides to leave, we get something in return for him). I really like Carl at the plate. He is a much better defender in LF, he hits from the left side of the plate, had good power, hits in the clutch well....he's just a guy you want on your team. He's a gamer. I can't say the same about Carlos. Though Carlos has killed the Cubs several times in the past. Tough call, but I think I would take Carl.

That hook was needed, this guy aint ready for the majors. Hey Rex, when ya read this, I TOLD YA SO.... lol sorry couldnt resist. I agree with you on that too. Except the I told ya so part. I had no f***ing clue what was going to happen.
-
That was an even quicker hook then Garland's. Let's just hope Wright does a little better. Gotta hope... 6 BB's? He ain't ready quite yet.
-
Yep. I agree with that.
-
Hey, I just figured out why we got this guy. JR told Kenny to go get a big name pitcher for the bullpen, so Kenny went out and got Scott Schoeneweis, and if I spelled that correctly, that is definately a big name pitcher, right? That only took me 3 or 4 weeks to think of too!

I have a question about how the system works

So if we wanted to, we could send Cotts down after the game, bring Burke back up for 4 games, and then when it is Cotts turn in the rotation again, send Burke down and bring Cotts up? -
God I hope not.
-
If Neal Cotts has, say, 3 options left, and Jamie Burke also has 3 options left, and we send Burke down to bring up Cotts, have Cotts start a game, and then "send him down" though he technically is not demoted(he is just taken off the roster and kept in the dugout, much as he did last night) and Burke is brought back up,would an option be taken up every time that is done?
-
I still like our chances. Right now, the Twins are playing great baseball, and their pitching is getting better. Lohse is turning it around(albeit against s***ty teams), Radke has been solid all year, Santana has been good, and Rogers is decent. If Milton comes back and pitches well, watch out. What we need is a f***ing bullpen.

Am I the only one who thinks that Loaiza could actually be a 20-game winner already? There are 3 1-0 losses, and he went 5 innings against San Diego and only gave up 3. He could have won all 4 of those games. He also lost 3-2 to Tampa(#20), got a ND against Minny(6 IP, 1 R)(#21), got a ND against Arizona(7 IP, 1 R)(#22), and he got another ND against KC(7 IP, 3 R)(#23) That is sick. If he got as much run support as Roy Halladay, we would be talking about a possible 30-game winner....no s***. Or at the very least, 25-30 wins.

Gary Darling

Yeah, I do remember that. But there is NO excuse for what that ump did. He single-handedly killed the Sox rally. That's BS.
-
I should add I'd like to see how we rebound tomorrow. We did this against the Tigers once before, and we then won 8 straight. I'm not sure we'll win 8 straight this time, but I think we'll have a winning stretch in the next 10-15 games.
-
That called strike to ring up Alomar was f***ing BS. That pitch had to of been 5 inches outside. If he isn't rung up there like he shouldn't have been, we could still very easily be playing right now. I realize that Schow f***ed up big time too, but :fyou s***ty umping. Had that of been a close game, Percival would have pitched a little better.

I wanna know who is going to be on the playoff rosters before who is going to come up in September.
-
I think you can let him "screw around" with being a setup guy though
-
I saw that too.

Someone on this board was at that game.............. IIRC, Brook Fordyce hit a homer that game. It went about 2 rows deep in LF.
