Who is the hottest chick?
Jewel's not bad either. Eliza Dushku....she's the one chick in that movie "The New Kid" right? She is....how do you put it...."sccchwing!", though that movie kind of sucked. Too many hot girls. Waaaay too many. And not enough for me.

Mountain Dew: Code Red
To me, original Dew is still the king(and I thought Mello Yello was the stuff that shrunk your balls???). Code red is a close second, and LiveWire tasted good for the first 2 weeks it was out, and now I think it tastes like s***. It kind of reminded me of orange gummy bears the first time I had it though. I will drink any kind of pop you give me, unless it starts with an 'S' and ends with 'quirt' and has that somewhere in it. Yuck.

Which team won the Billy Koch/Keith Foulke trade?
I assume #1 is Wells-for-Sirotka(Shouldergate) #2 is Toad-for-Wells, Fogg, and Lowe(:fyou Ritchie) #3 is Koch(plus Cotts and Holt)-for-Foulke, MJ, and Valentine All 3 are blockbuster deals.

IMO, if this team wants to succeed in the postseason, they will need to have Aaron Rowand or Willie Harris in CF. I don't care what kind of hitters they are. In fact, I don't care about their offense at all right now. I'm talking about the fact that you need some very good defense if you want to win. We will get nothing great defensively from this team. We won't have many errors, but many balls that should be caught will not be caught. I suggested it quite a while ago, and I'll suggest it again....trading one of Lee/Konerko would do wonders for this team, because it would open up a spot at either 1B or in LF....if it was opened up at 1B, we could put Thomas there(where he has had more success at the plate when he's played there), have Lee DH and put Everett in LF(or have Lee play LF and have Everett DH), or if we traded Lee, we'd just move Everett to LF. I suppose they could win if we had all those guys on the field.....but, IMO, it would be awfully tough.

JM and the Bullpen
I would actually agree with that. I would love to have Jim Tracy as manager.
-
JM and the Bullpen
I do tend to agree with BMR here. Don't say "I'll try you in this role and see if you work." Just say "You will do this, you will do this, and you will do this." Don't ever let Gordon mop-up like he did in that 13-9 loss against KC, and don't ever let White into a close game(though I'm not sure if he is even with the team anymore). That way they can go into the game with the right intensity.

Carl Everett
Is that THE badabob? Also....I agree with both of your posts on this thread!

Tonight's Pitching match up
You are right. what if it gets to the bullpens???? Then I'd lose the bet

Cotts for Tuesday in Anaheim??
Can I just make light of something? Last year, when Anaheim won the World Series and had an incredibly good year, a much worse pitcher, one Jim Parque, beat the Angels. This year, Anaheim is much more down to earth and they are mediocre. I'm sure Neal Cotts could beat Anaheim.

Our friend Poznanski getting a little scared?
Not the Yankees lineup. If Giambi went down, they'd go out and trade for someone else, and when Giambi got better, that player would be used as bench-warmer.

Tonight's Pitching match up
Isn't Mulder from around the Chicago-land area and grew up as a Sox fan? I thought I heard that from someone once upon a time. I'll say one thing though....I bet Mark wins. And I will say I bet his last name has an 'r' in it somewhere.
-
Our friend Poznanski getting a little scared?
Our lineup would be worse without Maggs in it, undoubtedly. However, he can't just say that it would take a ton away from our lineup. That is the beauty in having a Brian Daubach on your bench. When Daubach gets hot, he is as good as anyone. And he apparently doesn't even realize that if Joe Borchard ever does get his swing shortened up enough, that he could be a huge threat offensively too.

Wright to bullpen??
I just grabbed some quick and dirty numbers from ESPN. They don't break down lefty/righty for pitch counts and innings. I wouldn't be sure where to find them. This is the template I used. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/spli...8&type=pitching Actually looking at his numbers again one thing really jumps out at me, big time. Look at his numbers against the 3-4 hitters, and then against the 7-8-9 hitters. #9 hitters have more HR's and RBI's against Danny then do #4 hitters! I take back what I said about pacing himself, he seems to have somekind of an intensity problem, where he lets down against the not-so-good hitters. Being a closer could be better for him than I thought, as he would constantly be in intense situations where he has to be intense the whole time. I think you may be on to something. I think Wright could most definately be an All-Star closer.

who pitches in the 9th??
When Gordon goes in fully rested, I can turn the game off and know the Sox won. I thought I could do that with Koch when he had a 2-run lead against the DRays....apparently not(nice thing is though, the Royals can't do it with MacDougal). I wouldn't mind seeing Marte close, but in reality, he is tougher against righties then he is lefties(his slider tails in on the hands of righties, while it is a pitch that a lefty can hammer to opposite field on occasion). To put it plainly, he is just flat out tough as hell to hit. What I am in favor of is using the best arm when the time is necessary. That's the right way to use closer-by-committee. If you have the heart of the order come up in the 8th, why would you use your setup man to get those guys and have your closer get the 7, 8, and 9 guys in the 9th? That's how I would like to see it done

Jose Paniauga to be signed August 15th!!
I gotta agree with Rex on this one. This move doesn't help, doesn't hurt. You can't lose in this situation. If he blows, we release him, plain and simple.

Astros Claim Rick White!!!
Atleast he'll have a role in Houston.....mop-up duty! I think this was more of a strategical move that it was a move to help bolster the Astros' pen. Everyone remembers what kind of success White had last year in St. Louis down the stretch....Houston didn't want to let him do that again. They had a roster spot available, so what the hell, why not?

Tough stretch for Royals
I take it that the Royals will play Minny for 6 of those games. Here's hoping that the Twins and Royals beat each other up and end that stretch 3-3 against each other(with KC ending that 12-game stretch 3-9, and I hope it is the same with Minnesota)

NBC picks actress to play Jessica Lynch
I agree. Even if everything happened EXACTLY how the govt told us it did, why do we need a movie about it? Isn't this a pretty recent event? Something we wouldn't exactly need a movie on to retell the story. The whole thing is a joke...And don't get me wrong, I'm happy she's home safe and alive.. But doing this is disrespecting all the other troops still in Iraq, alot of them getting killed and these guys will and are forgotten already...She's being touted as a super hero, She-Rambo and s***.. Gimme a break You got some troops like Nuke coming home and is he gonna get a parade for fighting for our country? What a f***in Joke.. Agreed 100%

Embarrassing moments
a hot girl was sitting next to me when I did it...she laughed hysterically. She said it was the funniest moment of her life. If i could do it over again, I still would have farted Oh don't get me wrong, everyone laughed their asses off, as did she. You just won't get a girl by farting. Well, I don't think you would here atleast. I mean, how does that sound? "Yeah, we started going out after he farted really loud in class." Mmmmm-kay?

Question for Apu
My guess would be that is something about Bush And my guess on that would be something to do with us voting Bush in as president. Just a guess, so don't think this is right or anything.

Embarrassing moments
Once upon a time in English, the exact same thing happened to me. I can't remember what I was doing at the time, but I just remember that I just farted and it was loud as hell, and everyone started laughing. The bad thing was that the hottest girl in class sat right in front of me. That won't get you closer to getting in her pants, I guaran-f***ing-tee you that.

Tucker out
How badly was it broken? I know a guy that broke some bone around his elbow. Didn't know he broke it, couldn't tell it was broken, but when he finally did find it, it had already grown back, and it didn't grow back correctly, and now he can't straighten out that arm(meaning it will always be bent) However, I could also tell that he broke something. I mean, you seriously don't go down in a heap like that if something doesn't hurt like a b****, and I think the only thing I can think of that would hurt that much that a baseball could do without breaking something would be getting hit in the junk with a baseball, and if you are actually playing baseball, odds are, you will be wearing a cup. I was almost positive that he broke his leg on that too.

Saturday's Tailgate
Someone's told me that before. I wonder who.... Damn, this kind of stuff sounds like a blast. But unless you wanna buy me a roundtrip ticket to Chicago, I won't be able to go. Sorry

Are we being Cocky??
I will be leaving him some feedback. If you guys wanna read it, here it is I would just like to leave Joe Posnanski a little advice. Joe, if you are going to write, take the rose-colored glasses off. Look at things objectively. And realize that the Royals can do wrong, unlike what you think. You are calling the White Sox cocky? Wasn't it you just a week or two ago that GUARANTEED that the Royals would win the division? How about how the White Sox are "buying their way to the top of the division" when in reality, they are just making moves to strengthen their ballclub, like any other team would do at the trade deadline(like for instance, the Kansas City Royals). If I recall correctly, you said that the White Sox essentially bought Everett and Alomar(and I assume you think they bought Schoeneweis too), yet, in each of those deals, they gave up something of good value. In the Alomar deal, they gave up a first-round draft pick and a pitcher that is already in the Mets bullpen. In the Everett deal, they gave up a pitcher who has a fastball that is one of the best in the White Sox organization, a player who has 5-tool talent, and a pitcher who could end up being a very good reliever for the Rangers(though all are at A-ball), and in the Schoeneweis deal, they gave up Gary Glover, who is a veteran in the majors. Meanwhile, the Royals are the ones doing the buying. Afterall, they did buy Al Levine from the Devil Rays, didn't they? That's what it looked like to me. Tampa traded Al Levine to Kansas City for cash? They didn't even give up a player, they BOUGHT him. You may be appealing to the fans of the Royals, but to many others, you are a laughing-stock. If you would like to change your outlook, please look at baseball, and specifically the Royals, objectively. The White Sox have a much better lineup and a much better starting rotation, and at the very least, the bullpens are very close, talent wise. Maybe the only thing the Royals have working in their favor is a great manager, and Tony Pena IS a great manager(see, that's your first lesson....that's called being objective). If you have the courage to defend yourself, email me back at witesoxfan@yahoo.com. Yes, I'm a White Sox fan, and I find your columns funny as hell. Signed, Blake Simon We'll see what happens in the next week or so
