Oh yeah, we played so well at home tonight

I think the one thing that gets young pitchers in trouble the most is the big inning. Note the big inning, not the big innings in the plural sense. That seems to be what happens to Garland too. I see that he'll go 7 IP with 2 ER a whole hell of a lot, and those 2 runs came in the same inning. Garland had already had his "big inning" and was probably going to cruise through the next 2 or 3 innings. There was no reason Manuel should have taken him out, and as I said, it is why I blame this loss on Manuel. IMO, that was not a good move by Manuel. He probably shattered Garland's confidence and now we'll probably see Judy for the next 3 or 4 starts. Not what a team that is cooling down after being on a very hot streak needed. I just hope to god that Loaiza brings same grade A s*** tomorrow, or we could get our asses handed to us again.

That's what I love to hear out of a manager. Not only is it safe to say that, because no controversy will be created and you will get on no one's s*** list(except for your's, of course), but that's the way I would manage if I were a manager. I'd basically say I don't care how it's done or how ugly it is. Basically, my strategy would be to score more runs then the other team does. You'll win, guaranteed.

We have several things working in our favor. We have a very good 1-2-3 combo(neither the Royals or Twins have that). We have an offense that is finally showing signs of life(given, the Royals beat our asses pretty good tonight, but they don't do that often, and the Twins have been mediocre offensively to say the least), and our 1-2 punch in the pen is second to no one in the division, though Minny has us as far as overall pen goes. If I had to make a guess, I'd say our bullpen is as good if not better then the Royals pen. The only thing the Royals really have on us is their manager, but that is a huge advantage. Regardless, we still play the Royals something like 8 or 9 more times after today's game. A lot of ground will be made up in that stretch, and if I'm thinking right here, the Twins and Royals have a stretch here in the next 2 or 3 weeks where they play each other 7 or 8 times. Let's hope they beat up on each other during that stretch and each win about the same amount of games, or if they play 7 times, let's hope the Twins go 4-3.

Manuel pulled Garland too quickly. He hadn't even thrown 80 pitches yet, and he was pitching well. I hadn't been watching too closely, but apparently, we had been playing some shaky defense behind him. Manuel has got to get 6 innings out of Garland, because the pen had been used up in yesterday's game against Seattle. Garland was going to give us 6 strong innings and get us through it all. In my mind, that has been Manuel's biggest mistake in atleast a month. That's the manager I want canned. These are the kinds of moves the seperate good managers from great ones. Manuel is obviously not a great manager. The Show got his ass lit up(so much for that lefty-lefty matchup.....if I counted correctly, the Royals sent up 4 straight lefties, with the exception of one pitch to Harvey, and all 4 of them reached), and then Ginter got thrown on a s*** call(he was gonna get out of it too), so then we had to call on Wunsch. BTW....am I the only one who noticed that our pitcher got thrown out after he hit a guy(and it was obviously an accident....why would you hit a guy in a situation like that?), but after Grimsley hit Olivo, though Olivo struck out on the pitch, he and Pena were not tossed. I think that was the worst job of policing the game I have seen since Garland got tossed after no teams were warned in the Twinkie game. Goddamn was that ump s***ty. I kind of knew that we couldn't win this game at that point.

Lets put it this way. I'm a HUGE Chicago Bulls fan. Michael Jordan is my hero my idol my champion and so on. But I would trade all 6 of the Bulls titles for 1 White Sox world series. I have a passion for baseball and the White Sox that I don't have for anything or anyone else....WHITE SOX > ALL That is exactly what Jerry Reinsdorf said :puke I was just going to say that Anyways, I'm a Bills fan, so I could give a s*** about the Bears. Then again, atleast the Bears have won a Superbowl. If I may sound like a Cubs fan for a second here....."this is the year!" Regardless, I'd rather have the Sox win a World Series(preferably within the next year or two), so that way I can cock the s*** out of Cubs fans.

Looked up "want" Hey, I found HSC's protest sign
-
The reason you are drawing a blank is because it hasn't happened. Well, not since 1917, the last time we won a playoff series of any kind(and IIRC, that was the last time a baseball team in Chicago won any kind of playoff series).

The Twins easy schedule scares me, because if Lohse can ever figure s*** out, they could be a dominant team. Lohse getting throttled is not helping the Twins, and he's about the only one who can help them drastically. Reed's as close to washed up as possible and Kenny Rogers, at the very best, is decent...Radke has been solid and Santana will be good. IMO, Lohse makes or breaks their season. He comes through and can dominate like he did in April, and they are in first before you can say Kansas City f***ing sucks. He doesn't, and their screwed. They only have 2 good starters, which puts much, much more pressure on the bullpen to get it done, and when they use up the good arms in the pen, you have to start handing the ball to James Baldwin. The offense will be mediocre. IMO, Minny is our biggest threat, and they are only a threat if Lohse can figure things out. If he can't, I like our chances a lot.

I'll second that

Uh, duh! BTW, I agree with your post 100%

Not even when I'm thinking or speaking of hot chicks?

He's so gellin', he's like Magellan OK, I just had to do that. Sorry

Looked up "much." "And what would you like for Christmas little boy?"
-
thus we suck! oh I see now!

Dude, holy s***, seriously, pull your panties out of a wad. Loaiza probably won't have as good a year next year. But then again, maybe he will. What if he truly has figured it out(which I'd have to believe he has if he still has an ERA of under 2.50 and it's August), and he will be dominant like this for the next 5 years? Bringing Loaiza back next year is a no-brainer, especially with the amount of money he will make.
-
That's not a bad idea. We'll just let roman answer that, and we'll not visualize it On a more serious note, I have to agree with you. He does do a better job of managing then a lot of people think he does. He does sometimes mishandle the bullpen(but I'm fine with having Rick White call him out on that, because now Rick White is in Charlotte, or maybe he will go to St. Louis, or somewhere else, where he can suck), and he will occassionally make some dumb managerial moves(such as bunting with 2 strikes, not using the hit-and-run enough, bunting when you shouldn't, not bunting when you should, etc), but overall, I'd say he's been better this year then he has in the past.
-
I think we sweep again. If I'm thinking right, we have Garland, Loaiza, and Colon going in the series. I think the offense shows up tomorrow, and then Loaiza and Colon pitch lights out on Tuesday and Wednesday. And then that corny asshole that rights for the KC Star or whatever that newspaper is will write something stupid as hell, maybe like "Just because they got swept doesn't mean that they aren't in first place anymore", or something like that, and we will all laugh at him.
-
Exactly. Not many people realize it, but no team that was favored to win won a playoff series last year, and you can't include the Angels as favorites because with all the upsets and the fact that both the Giants and Angels were Wild Card teams, it was quite weird(I would have said the Giants were favored to win, mainly because of Bonds and an equally good bullpen, and after game 5, it seemed like the Giants almost had it locked up....anything can and will happen in the postseason). It was definately pandemonium. I don't care if you won 70 games or 120 games in the postseason, because once you get to the postseason, you are all 0-0 once again.
-
I don't know what's up your butt, but I could definately see the Sox making it to the ALCS. They have a very good 1-2-3 combo(and IMO, it is even better then the Yanks and M's 1-2-3, but not quite as good as the A's 1-2-3. The Red Sox don't really have a 1-2-3, unless you say Pedro, Lowe, Suppan, and I don't. They only have a 1-2 punch), and the bullpen is starting to come around. We have a very potent, very explosive lineup. The only thing possibly holding us back is JM, and I'm not even sure he'd keep us from being successful in the playoffs.
-
Good call, since we're 2 games out of first. We lost 2 of 3 to the best team in the AL(by my standards), after winning something like 13 of 15, and we suddenly suck. Can someone explain this to me? We sweep KC, and we are in first place, all alone.

Thats "X Gon Give it To Ya." By DMX. Suprised nobody else on this board knew it. I must be the only one who listens to rap. Hey, I got it before you did!
-
No, but that was mainly because he got out the guy that shows-up pitchers the most. His little hop is stupid and shows pitchers up like no other...I'm surprised more players didn't do what that Torres kid for Pittsburgh did earlier this year. Sosa just got a little of his own medicine.
-
I love this LMAO. Talk about a jinx. Maybe this guy should just stop writing. He's worse then Peter Gammons.
-
Haha. Rick White blows. I'd rather have Wright and Ginter up then White's fatass. As it has been said or thought so many times before.....don't let the door hit you on the way out.
