Being too right-handed is what killed us in the end in 2000, and has killed us over the past 2 years. Pitchers never had to adjust, they never had a new inside corner, their catcher was setting up in the same spot, and if he found one pitch that worked against us, we were done for. With more lefties in the lineup, a pitcher might throw a curveball that buckles a righties knees, but is hit a mile by a lefty. It forces the other manager to go to his bullpen quicker in the postseason(not that I'm saying we're going to the postseason quite yet, but I feel we have a very good shot), and overall, we become a much more dangerous team. I'm excited. If we can get everyone a lot of playing time(like 5 games a week or so), or we find a set of hot bats and we stick with it while making an adjustment every once in a while, this offense could really take off. I feel we are going to be doing it like the Yankees and the Red Sox are doing it, not like the Blue Jays did it and how we did it in 2000, where everyone gets hot for a period of time and you just kill the ball. This will be a good offense, and we'll get more clutch hits because we'll have better hitters coming off the bench. Right now, I can understand wanting to get Everett and Robby in to get them in. But we gotta make sure that Aaron gets in and that Willie gets in too. Aaron is swinging a very good bat right now, and I really don't want to waste that. Getting him in at CF would not be a bad idea, and having him leadoff would also be a good idea. I like our chances.

Yes, yes I am. Have you seen what he gave up to get some of his guys? Yes I have. He traded Grudz and Karros(who I believe are making $13 mill or something like that this year) for Hundley(who is making $8 mill this year). I believe Fred McGriff cost $5 mill, or something close to that. You don't think that's a good trade? I'll trade my problems for your problem....and then he got McGriff. He basically made a deal of Grudz and Karros for McGriff and Hundley. Not a bad deal, if you ask me personally. I personally think it's an alright trade....but maybe that's just me. And last year, in trading for Shuey, he did something that KW/Hahn/EE/whoever made the deal might be doing now in trading a top prospect for a piece that you didn't necessarily needed. If Texas does get Cotts, we will look like fools to the real fan, because they'll see that all Cotts needs is control of his pitches, and he'll be a stud, and all we'll get is Carl f***in' Everett. I don't think Evans is dumb enough to take Konerko. If he needed a bat, I could see him wanting Carlos Lee or Brian Daubach....but not Paul Konerko.

Don't pick "my pole is bigger then your pole"!

Borchard, a guy we spent $5.3 mill on, isn't going to be on a list that gets us Carl f***in Everett. If we got ARod and Texas paid half his salary....then I can understand Borchard being on that list. He ain't gonna be on a list that is for Carl f***in Everett. Though I hope he looks nice in a White Sox uni. Will find out shortly!

Agreed. Robby and Carl haven't even played a game yet as a member of the Chicago White Sox. If we sweep the Twins though, we are that much closer to taking first place. And for what it's worth, my dad, a die-hard Twin fan, sees the White Sox winning the division. He does not think the Twinks have what it takes to win, and he realizes that KC is not for real. Their(the Twins) offense has been inconsistent, and their starting has been s***ty, and as a result, their bullpen is being way overworked. I believe Guardado and Hawkins are still somewhat pissed about the Twinkies not going to be extending their contracts, and the mojo they had last year that seemed to have gotten them where they got is not there. I guess that's what happens when you release the fat piece of s*** known as David Ortiz.

Are we taking Dan Evans to be a dumbass or something? Do you not think he will look at Konerko's average and his power productions for the year and realize that he has hit 3 homers? Do you think he will give up Quantrill or Mota and take on a $20 mill risk in Paully? Paully can play 2 spots....1B and bench(and he's not bad at either one of them). I think he'd consider taking Jimenez though....but we'd have to give them something that actually has value and is cheap to get a good reliever. Jimenez did get hot at the end of last year, but he has NO place to play in Chicago. He is 3rd on the depth chart at 2B, 3rd at the best at SS, and is probably about our 5th(or with my about our 8th or 9th) option from now on at 3B(I'd much rather have Tony G, Jose, Robby, Dauber, and hell, even Carlos and Miguel at 3B over DJ). If we wanted to get something from LA and also get rid of PK in the process....we'd either have to make a 3-team deal with one team getting PK(not the Dodgers) and us getting the reliever, or we'd have to take about $15 mill of PK's salary.

Which is one reason Ringer was available

He'd make a good lefty setup guy

I think that having a really good farm system is nice and dandy for something like this....unless the player you give up is an elite, top tier player who will tear up the major leagues. I actually think having big, impact players is more important....I'd rather have Joe B, Kris Honel, Neil Cotts(assuming he isn't traded), and Ryan Wing pan out and dominate while having the rest of them just f***ing suck, then having 10-15 guys pan out and be solid ball players and see Joe B, Honel, Cotts, and Wing flop. If both would happen....I'd be in f***ing heaven. But I see your point. It is atleast worth trying to do it then just sit on your ass and do nothing.
-
Well duh, we knew that was coming! I just want some friggin details
-
Isn't Cotts a AAer? If so, and JimH isn't BSing(don't worry, I believe you! ), that means we didn't give up Cotts, right?
-
This, IMO, works out PERFECTLY for the tinker-er. We won't have the same lineup day in and day out because we need to get everyone everyday playing time. There is no set lineup, which works in our favor. This is a case of where you will ride the hot bats. This will work out wonderfully.

BAGGS!!!! How the hell you been? I was getting worried that football season had already started because the Sox were playing so s***ty.
-
Like I said in another post, I should have said that in green, like as a joke. I should have added one of these guys too ->
-
That was a nifty little catch he made. And better yet, it was that s***face Pierzynski that he robbed too!
-
Yep, yep, and yep. And yep, in case I need an extra one.
-
Hinrich was there? EAT THE CUB FANS! HINRICH HAS A BRAIN!
-
Bobby V is a dumbass, but it's good to know he likes Everett. I think he's overrating him a little though. Carl Everett is tied for the home run lead with Frank Thomas(who just hit his 18th tonight)
-
This sucks. I want some f***ing details.
-
Agreed on the reliever, though I don't necessarily feel we need to trade for one. Then again, I'll have to see who we traded to Texas. If Ginter went with Jimenez and (I hope not) Cotts, then we probably should trade for one.
-
I don't like it. It does what we've been trying to get away from, and that's being too right-handed. We have 4 righties in a row in the middle of that lineup. You need to get Daubach or Everett in the middle of it, plain and simple.
-
Then Everett can DH and Harris can play center. Or hows Everetts D? Maybe we could put him in left and Caballo at DH. Spare us from Carlos D and Ill be happy... I don't know about you, but Carlos is actually growing on me. I'm starting to like him more and more as the days go on. He's starting to field the ball better, he's getting more agressive(while still doing the smart thing) on the bases, and he's flat out getting better fundamentally. And you apparently didn't see the play he made tonight....it wasn't a bad play, to tell you the truth. Web gem material. Just get everyone regular playing time....get Frank, Maggs, Dauber, Carl, Carlos, Jose, Willie, Robby, Joe, and Aaron regular playing time, have Sandy and Miguel platoon(simple enough), and get Graffy and Paully in there too(or explain to Paully that he should go to the minors and try to get his swing going, so that way if he gets it going before August 31st, he can come up and help us in the playoffs)
-
And it just basically said we got Carl Everett for 2 or 3 minor leaguers to be named later. Not sure who yet, but it is someone.
-
I think what this adds is depth to the lineup....something we need. We had NO ONE coming off the bench late in a game unless one of our regulars was getting a day off. We now have 10 or 11 guys that could be starting for us....and that is what a lot of playoff teams have. If Jerry can get this to work....and with the way he likes to tinker with s***, I am quite sure he can.....we could get a lot out of this lineup.

OK, I'll believe the ones with the inside info, you believe what you want.
