  1. wasn't that us taking 3 out of 3? Yes it was
  2. I knew it was a homer right away. What pissed me off was how the 3B ump went from calling it foul, to overruling himself and calling it a homer. I don't mind an ump being overruled, but you never, ever overrule yourself. The other umps will overrule it for you, and you can say you made a mistake. That bugs the hell out of me.
  3. I'm not sure he knows what the World Series is. The White Sox haven't been there in over 40 years. You may have to explain that one to him.
  4. WHAT THE f***? That ruined my night rather quickly. If the Sox lose Anthony Webster for Carl f***in Everett, I'm gonna flip.
  5. Every sox fan here wants to see the sox do well. To some, it just matters more. I happen to be one of those people right now. The sox are one of the few positive things i can focus on, in my life right now. If i get down, or pissed cuz they may lose, its because I want them to win badly. Take it no other way and Im sure many of the other guys are the same way. Im a positive person but the sox have broken my heart way too many times. BMR....I have only been a Sox fan for about 8 or 9 years now, but to have only 1 playoff appearance in that time is very hard, and to have never seen the Sox win a playoff game is even harder. You can consider me being in the same category as you right now as far as wanting the Sox to win. And I think they will now.
  6. Am I missing something here? I didn't think there was anything wrong with what he said. I may not agree with everything he says, but it is his opinion, and he's being very objectional. That is friggin Shakespeare compared to what a Twin fan in one of my fantasy leagues wrote. Now remember, this is a Twins fan posting these comments about the pitching and offense....
  7. Is Cotts in the top 10 in the organization?
  8. Now time for a little sweet revenge on Sweet Lou. Then again, he's managing the DRays....JM could actually get outmanaged and we could still sweep them.
  9. I'm still excited about having him though. He hit the ball hard tonight...foul though. He had a couple of ropes down the RF line. He seems to be early on everything. I think if he moves up in the box like 2 steps, those balls are down the line for doubles.
  10. Weren't you excited about 1,000 posts in a day at one time Jas? If we make the playoffs, this place could get 5,000 or even 10,000 posts in one day. Everyone will either be at the game, watching it on TV, or on here. I'll probably be watching it on TV, and then after the game, will make about 50 posts.
  11. If Carl wants to play defense, please, don't ever let him play CF in a game as important as this ever again. I could understand if we were 5 games up or down....but not in a game where if we win we are 1.5 back and if we lose we are 3.5 back and we essentially tread water. I think JM just wanted to get him in there. Nothing wrong with that, I would have just had someone else sit(though who can you sit? Carlos has killed Lohse in the past, Maggs is Maggs, Thomas DHed and did a hell of a job doing that, Daubach and Konerko played 1B, they combined for 2 huge homers, both tying the game....no where else you could even consider playing him). We've won 2 games in July, let's get about 15 more....atleast. And then let's win 18 more in August. Then let's get 20 in September and go into the postseason hot as f***ing hell.
  12. Agreed. And Willie can play, what most people call, defense. I don't know what Jimenez does, but that sure as hell isn't defense. I can get all the balls that come within 3 feet of me too. I can also run the bases about as well as Jimenez can. Willie can fly, he can play a little OF, he can play 2B pretty well, he's got some pop in his bat(as much as DJ does), he can bunt, he tries, he isn't a cancer in the clubhouse, and he plays with heart. You tell me how much of that DJ can do, aside from having pop in his bat....and I'd probably have to call you a liar.
  13. We should win every series? At the very worst, we have to lose 2 games. There is very little to no excuse for being beaten by the Tigers even when you are playing badly, and the way we are playing, we should easily sweep the DRays and Indians. However, Minnesota is sinking quickly. They would be happy to be treading water. Dick Bremer(their play-by-play guy), keeps wanting the Twins to get it going. He keeps hoping that "tonight is the night". I heard that last night and tonight, and that is all he keeps saying. They are screwed till the ASB. I believe their competition is a little weaker, so they may be able to squeak out 4 or 5 wins over the next few games. As for Robby....that was sweet wasn't it? The ball he dropped he should have had, but I see nothing wrong with it. That DP more then made up for it. It will be sweet seeing him at 2B. As for Everett......let's just let Rowand and Harris play a little more CF then Carl.
  14. Ponson, and I hope that's it(unless we acquire a good arm for the pen). And abozichu....there is no rotation for the rest of the way. We just give the ball to whoever the best hand is that is fresh. If Buehrle can go, we give it to him. If Colon can go, we give it to him. Plain and simple. ASSUMING WE MAKE IT(KNOCK ON WOOD), Buehrle should go in game two of the series, with one of ELo or Bart going in game one, and the other in game three. I really think a R-L-R matchup would work out in our favor.
  15. He'd probably say "And you wonder why we are playing better baseball?" That was a big motivating factor, but getting rid of Jimenez was another. With him out of the clubhouse, everyone can be happy and play well.
  16. I saw that. A very appropiate name for the people whose words are in it, huh?
  17. What we can't do now is overrate ourselves(meaning the White Sox as a team, not us as fans) as being the messiah and then lose on this next stretch of games. These are the teams we should be beating. Take the same intensity that you took in the Cubs and Twins games into these games, whether or not they are important. Just something of note.....we started this good stretch of baseball a little while ago, seems like Jimenez's playing time was decreasing during that stretch of games.....anyone else see the connection? I want a guy in there that wants to play, not a guy that thinks he is a god. Jimenez is not Robby Alomar, in fact, he is not even close to being as good as Robby Alomar, and Robby Alomar is 35 and has diminished skills. Jimenez's attitude of "I'm better then everyone else" really did kill this team. All I can say is thank you Jerry for taking his sorry ass excuse for a ballplayer out of the lineup.
  18. Right away, I was trying to remember what you were talking about, because initially, I didn't understand what you were trying to say(kind of difficult wording). I finally remembered what you were talking about, and look at where it has gotten us. This team, especially Carl and Robby, know what it is like to be at your lowest low. Those two were both on a last place teams for quite some time this year(technically, we were too, but I mean last after 3 games? Come on), and this team was underachieving like no other in May and early June. It appears that the Cubs games woke them up again, much like last year, only this time, it appears they are going to stay awake. They are celebrating again, and they are getting excited. They are showing heart, something they did very little of last year, though I won't name names(I wonder who was a major part of that). After you are a losing team(and it does not matter how long you are a losing team. You can get swept and be a winning team, and you can sweep a team and be a losing team. It's all a matter of how you play, and not whether you win or lose). We could have won every game from in that stretch where we were playing like horse s***, it wouldn't have mattered, because we were not playing well. We knew how to take losing game after game, losing series to bad teams like Cleveland and Detroit. It is very hard....that is something the Twins are finding out right now. However, the more you lose, the easier it is to recover, go out, and play better. You can't win 'em all. I really do not see the Twins pulling out of this until atleast mid-to-late July, and by then, it could and probably will be too late. We are starting to play better ball, and when you play baseball well, you will win. The Royals have yet to really get into a slump yet, but there are very, very, very few teams who can get hot and stay hot from April 1 till September 30th, and right now, I can only think of about 2 or 3 teams in the past 10 years who have done that, and even those teams get in mini-slumps now and then(BTW, the teams I am thinking of are the 01 M's, the 98 Yanks, and the 95 Indians). The Royals will slump, and they will realize it is hard to get out of slumps....very hard. The Twins did it last year at times, the Indians did it at times in 01, and we didn't even play like a division champion in the second half of 00. I believe that was our one downfall in 00, was that we didn't lose enough(as weird as it sounds). That is why this Tigers team will get better faster then people think(assuming they keep the team together and make the right personel moves). The DRays will get better faster then people think. The Indians and Brewers and who not else will as well. How do you think the Royals went from being a 100 loss to a potential division favorite(however, they have not struggled as a winning ballclub yet. They'll find it harder to come out of a slump as a winning team then as a losing team)? This team is slowly becoming one of the more exciting teams to watch, even with a shaky pen and a sometimes bad starting staff. They could have easily rolled over and died in Bart's last start, they could have easily rolled over and died in Dan's start tonight. The starters are not actually giving great outings, but the team is coming out victorious because they finally realized that by playing a little small ball, you can claw and scratch away 3 runs a game, and that you can't hit a 5 or 6 run homer. Since then, the offense has exploded, and I believe 18 of the 24 runs this series came off of homers. I don't know what else there is to say. We are becoming one of the better teams in baseball, and I actually think it is in large part to the fact that we sucked so much early on. Look at how the Yankees rebounded after they hit their low point(they were struggling quite a bit, and then they were no-hit by the Astros, and they have played very well since then). There are two places you can go after you hit a slump....farther down, or back up. Mediocre teams take the former, while great teams take the latter.
  19. What? I can't hear you. It's too loud. And yes, it was in f***ing credible.
  20. It feels good to be this close, this late in the year. Nothing better then this. You wanna talk about a big win....you are looking at this game right here. We send our #5 out against their ace. We take the lead, give it up but are tied up, give them the lead, then get it back on a HUGE(in this I mean being very clutch) homer from Paully K, and then win the game on a homer by Frank. If Paully can get going, the rest of the AL may as well concede until the ASB...I can't wait to start these games against the s*** Rays, Indians, and Tigers. It is very possible that we could win the rest of the games before the ASB.
  21. Well I guess Jason was wrong. Alomar got on base 2 times from the right side today. Once on a hit another on a walk. Both off 2 of the best lefty relievers in the game. Eddie Guardado one of the best lefty relievers? He threw 4 pitches that landed about 350-400 feet away, and 2 of them stayed fair. He is shaky, at best, and I don't want him coming in for me in a big game situation. Good, yes....one of the best? I'd much rather have Marte, Rincon, Remlinger, Myers, Groom, et al....coming in for me in a big situation.
  22. True enough. I gotta wonder though....whose homer is bigger tonight, Sosa's or Kong's? I'd personally say Kong's....consider the situation, how the players had been playing, and everything else....and that homer is f***ing huge. Feels like 2000 again. I hope we end the regular season in the same spot.
  23. HOLY s***! PAULLY, YOU ARE THE f***ING MAN! PAUL f***ING KONERKO....AL ALLSTAR!
  24. I'd take Lawrence or Ponson(Ponson especially if they take Paully). I hope we don't get Weaver.
