After you get used to them, the controllers don't really seem that big. Compared to the GameCube or PS2 controllers, yeah, the XBox controllers are huge, but that's not why you can't turn very well. I can push the joystick way the hell over, and it still hardly turns. You have to brake and slow down and s*** like that.....just not a very exciting game unless you either get really f***ing good at it, or you are a big fan of racing and you understand s*** like that(which in turn would make you really damn good at the game). My hands are, at the worst, slightly bigger then normal hands, and I wouldn't even say that. I pretty much have normal sized hands. That game is just frustrating as hell. I like XBox a lot because it comes with a built in memory....not sure if a PS2 or a GameCube has that, but that is sweet s***.

You've said you have an XBox before....and thanks for the recommendations. I'll check them out(I figured Halo and Splinter Cell would be good ones....Halo is like THE game for XBox, just like Vice City is the signature game of the PS2). I figure Project Gotham will be better then Sega GT....man, it is so f***ing hard to turn in that game...pisses me off.
  3. Assuming of course that Cotts ever gets any control.

    White Sox

To even consider doing this is insane. In a month and a half, we could either have built up for a pennant run, or we could have traded everyone away in a fire sale. Regardless, I could almost guarantee you that you will see a few new faces in a White Sox uniform within that time period of a month and a half. If we are serious about a pennant run, White and Glover will both be traded and we'll bring in some better bullpen pitchers, you might see another solid starter come in, and there is a definite possibility that someone may come in to help the offense(though if Wee Willie Harris can keep hitting and doing a good job leading off, he may be just what we need). If we have a fire sale, you could see CLee, Jose, Konerko, Gordon, White, Wunsch, Koch, Colon, Loaiza, Daubach, Graffanino, Maggs, Sandy, Rios, and others gone in a youth movement(though I personally feel that Colon, Loaiza, and Buehrle will be apart of the youth movement, regardless of their age). I'd really love to get rid of DJ(no range, bad baserunner, mediocre speed at best, no heart), but that may be a pipe dream. You can talk about this in September, when moves are offically done, unless we flat out release a guy(such as with K-layton last year), and then it becomes sane to talk about. And I have a question....have YOU seen Munoz at AAA? I can't remember which ballpark it is, but there is one of our minor league ballparks that is a hitter's utopia...and I'm thinking it might be the AAA ballpark, but someone will have to help me on that.
  5. I have blamed Manuel simply because he, IMO, made a bad decision in leaving Marte in against Grudz. You either let Colon pitch to O'Leary and then let him try to get out of the inning and hand the ball off to another guy(Marte/Koch/White/Glover), or you have Marte face O'Leary, and then bring in another righty.

To get this thread productive(because nothing has come out of it so far), roman, what are some good games on XBox? I just got mine, and I got the two game set of Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future, and both those games are decent, but I want to know some other good ones that I should buy. I rented Time Splitters 2 the other day(was a decent game, though the controls were rather awkward). I know that the first game I'm going to get is WSB 2k3, but are there any other games you suggest I take a look at?
  7. On any given day, I could out-manage a manager. If my offense scores 7 runs for me, they make my job a whole lot easier. It is in games like this that seperate s***ty managers from good managers from great managers.
  8. The Cubs really aren't that much better then us, if they are better then us period. They have a much, much better manager though. I don't think anyone will deny that.

    Koch

He normally hits 96-97 with an occasional boost on some where he hits 98-99, he is now hitting around 91-92, occasionally hitting 93 or 94. As Molto said, 4-5 MPH off his fastball. He is not like Billy Wagner where he can just constantly 99-100. And his control is s***ty. However, he is still getting the job done. If we win, that's all that matters.
  10. link Look who was at the game today, or atleast before hand....that s***-faced coach Dave Wannstedt, and for those of you who do not like the Red Wings/Dead Things, Chris Chelios was there again too.
  11. actually-the solution is much easier than invoking divine intervention......... fire Manuel now-and God can work on bigger problems. K-Y K-Y, I do realize that is the easiest solution. You think the White Sox would use some common sense? I don't think so. The smartest thing to do right now would be to fire Manuel. I think even KW(whether or not he is GMing, and I don't believe he is) realizes that this is a do or die year. So what are we going to do? Sit with a s*** manager and watch him do nothing to help us, and only hurt us? How much would it cost for us to fire Manuel and then hire Wally Backman? It's the cheap way out and I personally believe Backman could put us over the top. And it couldn't cost that much more. We better bring him up quick, because I think that someone else is going to steal him away from us. The AA team has NO offense whatsoever, yet they have got to be hovering right around the .500 mark. How? Maybe because Backman is a hell of a manager?
  12. I don't know how much more I can say except.... I agree. Go to church and pray that we win the series...because we're going to need a f***ing MIRACLE to win this series against the Twins.
  13. I'll have to see Garland pitch the whole year before I make an statements saying he has turned the corner. Last year, he had an ERA below 4.00 in 4 of the 6 months of the year. The months he had an ERA over 4.00? I believe they were both above 6 or 7, and those months were April and July. He had a s***ty April....so I'll just have to see how he does in the next 3 months.
  14. You do realize that that near-first place team is in the second worst division in all of baseball, right? You put the Cubs in ANY other division, and they are atleast a 3rd place team, and probably worse in most divisions....even with that starting pitching. The Astros have s*** for starting pitching, and the Cardinals have so many injuries I don't know who is and who isn't injured on their roster anymore(if I am thinkly correctly, Rolen, Vina, Cairo are injured off the top of my head....and I know that Pujols, Edmonds, Drew, Williams, Morris, and probably even more have been injured in some aspect somehow this year). I think even WE could be leading that division. JM just thinks that we can't play small ball because we are in the AL. You think he'd get a clue after we are very s***ty playing with the DH, yet when the pitcher bats and we are forced to use small ball in some situations, we do much better. If I'm thinking right, we were 5-4 in NL parks, right? Does he realize how close we were to actually winning some of those games, and had we had some GOOD MANAGING MOVES, we could have been 6-3 or 7-2? For a powerhouse offense to work, you need to play a little small ball. You get runners stealing bases on a constant basis, the pitchers will make mistakes, and those mistakes will be hit very hard and sometimes will land a very long ways a way. In 2000, we did that better then almost any team in recent memory. We got a ton of singles, and when a pitcher would finally get worn out to a certain point, he'd start throwing get-me-over's, and we'd kill them. It works very well.
  15. Tell us how you really feel! I agree though....that was a very poor move on Manuel's part. There is NO reason at all why Colon is brought out in that situation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but O'Leary led off the inning, right? The very WORST that can happen is a tie game after the at bat. Manuel decides to be a dumbass and bring in Marte....and the thing he should have done AS SOON as he got O'Leary out was gone to the bullpen and either brought in Gordon, White, Glover, or Koch. It is called managing by the book, and Manuel has apparently forgotten how to do it. My day would be going MUCH better had there actually been a real play-by-play guy. I think I'm dumber then I was before watching that game, thank you very much Chimpy.
  16. I assume we'll only have to face one of the Wood-Prior duo next weekend as well. We'll have the same pitchers going in Buehrle and Colon(who I believe should matchup with Clement and Zambrano respectively) and then it will be Loaiza against Wood/Prior. Am I the only one that thinks we have a solid shot at getting a season sweep of the loveable losers this year?
  17. Sat, how the hell have you been? It's a good time to come. The Sox are just starting to play better.....maybe because we're starting to get some more people from the old MLB site in here? Where is Big Frank/Andrew Vader or whatever his name is when you need him?
  18. I agree. We take 2 of 3, we are 2.5 back, we sweep, we are a half game back, we lose 2 of 3, we are 5.5 back, we get swept....we are 7.5 back and aren't even in the picture anymore. We can't afford to be swept, and losing the series will hurt a lot too. I think it is almost a must win series.

Dude, you're f***ing creepy. You can want that, but keep it to yourself. I want a few things, but atleast I keep them to myself, like I'm sure many others here do too. Jeezus f***ing rice
  20. Some pitchers have 10 or 11 wins. You know what's saddest about that fact? The Tigers have 1/6th of their wins against us.
  21. witesoxfan

    we win

And now you see that ERA is OVERRATED. You could give up 100 runs every game, but if your offense scores 101 runs every game for you, and you go 35-0, is your ERA going to matter?
  22. witesoxfan

    we win

But he can't say that Vince because MB SUCKS Shut the hell up. I never said MB sucks on this thread, I just said he didnt pitch very well. Its called telling the truth. 6 IP with 4 ER is not very good! I mean, if thats so good, why is everyone mad at our season? With your crappy standards ours is a wonderful season! Dont rip on me for not being a low expectation punk like yourself, killa. :fyou :fyou You need an offense to win any game. You could go 9 innings and give up 1 run without getting anything behind you. You might lose the game, but did you pitch terrible? The pitching has been better then we ever could have expected it would be. You CANNOT blame our early struggles this year on the pitching. You place the blame solely on the offense. If we our offense was even mediocre....we would be in first place right now.
  23. Mark deserves a win in a solid outing. He has had some very good starts where he got s*** for runs and did not deserve to lose. He didn't necessarily deserve to win today with the start he had....but who the f*** cares how MB did? Haven't you ever heard of "winning ugly?" If you get no-hit, but manufacture a few runs, I'd definately call that ugly....but if you score more runs then the opponent, you just won yourself a ballgame. If your starter gives uo 9 runs in 6 innings(and he pitched 6 innings because the bullpen has been worn out and the team NEEDS 6 innings), and the offense behind you scores 10, you win, but it ain't pretty. If you make 4 or 5 errors in a game, but stop the opposition from that point on, and you score more runs then they do, it sure as hell is ugly, but you win. Winning ugly....some teams can win divisions because of it....look at 1983 for example. Today, we won ugly...you don't worry about how you did it or why you did it....you just say we won ugly today. That's all you can say. But a great, yes it is. Cubs move out of first place, thanks to us!
  24. Think he could be the next Frank Thomas? Not sure how much he walks or K's...but man can he put up some numbers. Ho-ly s***.

    Cork

Was I the only one who thought that there were a few too many boos of SamME to be all Sox fans doing the booing? Maybe some Cubs fans saw the light?
