Not sure if I saw his debut....but I did see his first major league start and win. I bet I am one of the few in here that did. That was great fun. I believe that was the game the Sox won 3-2 and Brook Fordyce hit a solo homer 2 rows into the LF seats....about 350 ft down the LF line(I believe it's 343 down that way)

Looks like we are only taking Sunday's game

I first want to score more than 3 runs and I want to allow fewer than 18 runs. After that, I want a win or two. FYI.....last year, I believe on ESPN, we lit Cy Mays's ass up. Got him for like 7 runs in 2 innings and won like 14-4, didn't we? I remember Romero tried to bust Maggs in on a pitch late in the game, and Maggs turned on that s*** and yanked it out. -
Hello Aaron Rowand

And what happened last year doesn't mean squat this year. I don't give a flying f*** that they are the defending AL Central champs. They are no different than us. Just because you are the defending division champion doesn't make you good. Look at the Marlins teams from 97 and 98....they are night and day when compared to each other.

Apparently, you don't realize how f***ed the Cards pen is right now. They have Cal Eldred closing. I think I've said enough.
-
I'd send them Ginter too. Garland, Porzio, and Ginter for Drew.....and, IMO, that works in the end. They then have Orlando Palmeiro in CF or wherever they want to play him. They could possibly trade for another solid OFer too.
-
No doubt. Get the asshat son of a b**** out of here. I guess he doesn't remember 2000. If I may remind him....the Sox won the division in 2000....guys like Jose Valentin, Maggs Ordonez, Paul Konerko, Carlos Lee, Frank Thomas, Mark Buehrle, Kelly Wunsch, and several other guys, including the manager, Jerry Manuel, were doused in champaign like douchebag Torii Hunter is in his picture. That year, the Twins finished in last place. dumbf*** Twins fan

It's part of the game. I bet they do steal signs. I bet we steal signs sometimes too.

Oh yeah, we ragged him on him bigtime after getting Colon

Give them Rowand or Rios or someone like that for a replacement OFer....they might not be good, but it will be fine until Marrero is back.

Buehrle's stats right now remind me a lot of Tom Glavine. Here's what I'm looking at. In Glavine's first two years....he had some good success. He allowed more homers in his second year then his first....but allowed about 100 walks in about 380 innings. However, in 1990, Glavine walked 78 in 214 innings. He allowed 18 homers, two fewer than he did in 89. Overall....he regressed in 1990 when comparing him to his 88 & 89 forms. In 1991, Glavine went 20-11 with a 2.55 ERA in 240 innings. His walk count didn't really decrease, but his strikeout rate increased tremendously. He had about 125 in 90, and had about 190 in 91. If this thing plays out like it did for Glavine....his great success and leap into superstardom will come next year, and not this year. We need him to turn it around a little though. He's pitched like absolute s***.

We could go 11-0 in the postseason, and somehow, someway, we'd get f***ed in the end. Murphy's Law kills us year after year.

I've been there before. It's quite a long ways....like 400 miles or something close to that. I personally just don't like making the trip because the Metrodome is a s***ty stadium because there is nothing unique about it, and it is an even s***tier baseball stadium. I still am going to go up there though....hopefully to see the Sox.

This is uncharacteristic of Buehrle. He is usually lights out in May. In his career, May has been his best month, posting a career ERA of 2.22 in May....that not including this year. A guy on the MLB WS boards, themoll, brought up an interesting point in the offseason, shortly after the Koch trade. Mark Johnson was MB's personal catcher, and caught him for 2 years. I'd bet that most of Buehrle's struggles have not been him not pitching well, because he has probably had good stuff for pretty much the whole year. I bet most of his struggles have been because of his need to adjust to a new catcher. As soon as he and Olivo work s*** out and both get on the same page, MB will be fine. That is one of the reasons why I believe this is a second half team. We will play great baseball come the second half. Right now though, we have not played steady, good, baseball all year long.

I got a very, very weird idea. Bring up Josh Paul and stick him in CF. He couldn't do any worse than Harris or Rowand. The only other guy that could play better CF than Paul is Rios. I say we bring up Paul in this case and give him a start or two in CF. See how he reacts.

The "We're gonna take down Minnesota" game thread

I saw the Vikings beat the Bears tonight. That's what it looked like anyways. Holy f*** I bet they just scored all their runs in this game....and they won't score another run for 4 straight games. We should have made this comical. Had Paulie K pitch, or maybe Tony G. That would have been funny as hell. Maybe get a little Miguel Olivo and his rocket arm in the action....see what he can do on the mound. -
Lofton killed the team last year. He hit like .150 in June. If your leadoff hitter hits .150, you aren't going to be good. I'm very glad that asshole is gone. I was happy as hell to see him make the last out in the World Series. I was jumping all around the house in glee. I'm now glad to see him on a team that will suck.

The Twins are scalding coming into the series....but, IMO, they are not as advantageous as it appears. They've won like 12 of their last 15 or so....but I look at this past game with the Royals. They go to the 14th, and then give up 4 runs. Their bullpen obviously got lit up in that inning(I believe it was Santana), and the bullpen was used quite a bit. That means that Radke has to give them probably a solid 7 or 8 innings tonight, just to give the bullpen a rest. The White Sox are coming off 3 straight wins against a decent Orioles team. The first game we got an incredibly good outing out of Esteban Loaiza, who threw 8 shutout innings before giving the ball to Koch, who sent the Orioles back 1-2-3 in the 9th. The next two games we had rallies late in the game and won both. Last year....we would have lost that series 2-1...this year, we swept them. I think this team is starting to come to life. If we get some solid pitching out of Mark tonight....and Jon tomorrow....I think this team could continue with the success they've had. The Twins are put at an obvious advantage right away....bieng able to play in the Metrodome is an automatic homefield advantage. The Twins use that to their advantage....and I expect probably atleast 1 or 2 very poor plays due to the stadium.....either a ball lost in the lights or a grounder too damn fast for someone to handle. Something. I'll say we win 2 of 3.....losing to Mays, who I believe we face in this series.

IMO....KW is a good GM....hell, I'll go as far as saying he's a very good GM. He isn't afraid to take risks(which we've seen 4 times in the past 3 years), and for both years he's been here, he's gotten us good players in our firesales. However, when he's calling in from above....that alone turns him from a good GM into a very s***ty GM, one that needs to be fired. What he needs to do is get the guys that he believes will win us games on the field, and then just needs to get the hell away from the ballpark....and take his palm pilot or whatever with him, so he can see how the game is going. He should not call JM and tell him what to do. KW is a good GM....but a s***ty manager.

I gotta get up to atleast one series this year between the Sox and Twinks in the Metrodome this year. I haven't seen the Sox since 2000. There is nothing unique about the food though. All pretty plain and boring.

That's about 9,900 too many

It will continue.....you'll see.
