  1. QUOTE (The Baconator @ May 15, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) Oh for sure, I love our home and alternate black unis. I'm not a big fan of the road grays (I don't like the script, and now the the Twins have it as well), especially with the new left-sleeve patch this year (I don't like how they seem to be phasing out a logo). I believe we do have one of the longest standing logos with no alteration in the majors right now; that's a testament to the design and staying-power of the logo. My only fear is that they will want to change it at some point to shake things up, and if it does come to that, I do approve bringing back the red instead of a full overhaul. I really like the Chicago script, but I think it looks stupid on Minnesota's road uniforms. Not sure why I think that, but I do. I just don't think they'll ever need to change or alter anything whatsoever. The uniforms have been great for 20 years, and I think they'll be great for another 20 years too.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) I'm done. This Bulls team is amazing. They have to win 3 more, and then 4 after that. But if they play like this all series, Miami has no chance.
  3. Of course, it doesn't matter anyways. Bulls are awesome.
  4. Absolutely. With a lead like this, you really don't need to sacrifice defense for offense. Get Thomas, Gibson, or Asik back in there and have Brewer or Bogans back out there. Force bad shots at this point and the game is in the bag. There's still enough time that they can get back into it, so make sure they don't.
  5. Jamaal Magloire? Jesus, what is this, 2004?
  6. QUOTE (The Baconator @ May 15, 2011 -> 07:26 PM) While Strasburg wearing a Sox uni is interesting, I love the actual article that those came from. He presents some very interesting concepts for a jersey revamp (really just brings red back into the current set). Complete Article Link I might like them more if they weren't done in MS Paint. Seriously though, I don't see any need to alter the current uniforms. I'm obviously biased, but I think the Sox have the best uniforms in sports.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) And when Strasburg, health permitting, is racking up CY after CY you'll change your tune. That dude is special. If he gets hurt, so be it. That's the ONLY thing that can stop him. Health permitting is a pretty big understood what if. Strasburg is a monstrous health risk. Even if he is an 8 WAR pitcher - I think he's probably closer to a 6-7 WAR pitcher - then we'll say the Sox system will have to produce 1 good regular and 2-3 average players or good relievers. And I think you said you'd trade the entire White Sox team too, which means that you are then without Danks, Floyd, Santos, Sale, Dunn, and whoever else you value. That would be a very bad trade, I don't care how good Strasburg is.
  8. (bringing this over from the Central thread) QUOTE (zenryan @ May 15, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) It has nothing to do with him being a non Sox player. He went from a guy hitting 16 home runs in 120-140 games to hitting 54 in a season and now 16 in 32 games. But yeah, now that there is steroid testing it must mean every player is clean... Or it could be a simple mechanical adjustment. Above are videos from 2008 and 2011. Here are videos from July 2009 and October 2009. July 2009 off of David Price October 2009 off of Jeremy Guthrie HUGE difference, and it is become more pronounced this year too. His plate coverage has improved and, as mentioned, always had a good eye at the plate. And I'm well aware that not all PED's increase your body size, but his body hasn't increased at all. If anything, it sort of looks like he's slimmed down over time, which could feasibly allow him to get through the zone quicker, especially if he hasn't lost any strength in losing size. I think he's clean.
  9. QUOTE (3E8 @ May 15, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) Southsider2k5 does not think so. But obviously he passed last years tests since we did not hear anything. So unless he is on HGH, which would devastate me, he is human. I think it's legit. He always swung hard and was a patient hitter, but the timing mechanism with his foot along with opening up juuuust a bit has allowed him the ability to see the ball longer and better. Jose Bautista homer off Lester, 2008 Jose Bautista homer off Duensing, Today There is a clear and distinguishable difference between the two. I don't see any difference in his swing at all, and he may not open up at all, but his approach is completely different and it is quite pronounced. That leg kick he has seems to open him up at the plate and allows him to both see the ball better and get better hip rotation, which contributes to his power, and he had a very powerful swing to begin with.
  10. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ May 14, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) Thomas' beef was that he believed the Blue Jays prematurely benched him because his option vested on the premise he reached a certain number of AB's, and the Blue Jays didn't want him reaching that number. I'm not arguing any of your points, just clarifying the circumstances. Well thanks for ruining my point.
  11. They scored more runs than the Athletics after 9 innings and thus, by definition of the rules, are declared the winner. Didn't think they had a chance at being over .500 on that trip, let alone winning every series. They are playing pretty damn good ball right now.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 15, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) Holy f***ing Juan Pierre. KILL YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get that it's a game thread, but that's a bit much.
  13. How is Juan Pierre still playing? Hardwork only gets you so far. You need some results. He has absolutely none at this point. Hell, DL him for mental exhaustion, let him clear his head, and bring someone else up. I don't even give a s*** if it's De Aza. Pierre is garbage right now and he is doing everything he can to kill the White Sox.
  14. "The Twins pitchers did a crappy job of pitching to Jose Bautista this weekend." - Bert Blyleven He is really stressing the term crappy at this point.
  15. Cahill seems to be the type of pitcher who is going to destroy an impatient hitter. You have to wait him out and make him bring it up, and if he throws 3 straight pitches at the knees, you tip your cap.
  16. Last time I looked, it was runners on the corners and Willingham up. I went to check and saw that someone was winning 1-0 and got pissed. Then I realized Alexei homered. I got happy.
  17. QUOTE (3E8 @ May 15, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) I am fapping vigorously. Today will be the 14th straight game for Bautista with a positive WPA. That is 14 straight games his play improved the Jays' odds of winning the game. It is insanity. It will be an upset if he doesn't end up winning the MVP and I think he has a legitimate chance at putting up a 1.200 OPS. What makes this even more incredible is that he's doing it in a supposed down period for offense. I can't even say that he's not a .350 hitter right now either. He has gotten to the point where you have to stop what you are doing and watch when he comes to bat.
  18. The Twins have never been this bad at any point in the season since 2000. They won 69 games that year.
  19. STOP PITCHING TO JOSE BAUTISTA Seriously, he deserves the Bonds treatment at this point. I get that Adam Lind and Edwin Encarnacion can hit home runs too, but they don't beat you at near the regularity as Bautista. He is absolutely ridiculous right now. Can you imagine if Williams had actually been able to acquire him last year?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) One more losing streak and it becomes smarter. Of course, that's why I qualified it with "right now." I don't foresee this team going on another losing streak like that. I've been wrong before, but it seems that the worst is behind them.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 14, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) Saying that the chances of them winning the division are around 25% is a stretch, but I can accept that. Adding in the "-50%" is what made me do a double take. Hence the optimistically. Bottomline, trading John Danks is dumb right now.
  22. There are some good, talented pitchers in there, but the next two matchups that really scare me are Romero and Lester. They may win a few more games during this stretch.
