  3. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 10:56 PM) On pace to end up with 100 rbi's and close to 40 hrs. What do you think we can get for him in a trade? Couple of minor leaguers maybe? ummm negative thar capn, maybe like all of a baseball with like 107 stitches or somethin
  4. just gonna be completely honest... I hate every one of you...there are atleast 3 girls here (atleast I think they're girls) that is all
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 01:01 AM) I don't like the predictive text on this phone. I type in off, it suggests "offsetleft". What in the bloody hell does that mean? Also, any suggestions for a good hair gel/spray for guys? Remember, I'm cheap. dude, Suave makes stuff for men nowadays, and they almost always sell stuff for cheap0rz...thats my hair gel. I've also used it only like 2 times, but I'm just not a hair gel kinda guy...I merely like having it around, just in case.

  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) ESPN's TitleTown at Wrigley makes me giggle. Wow, not one mention of 2005, and just one half second shot of Crede kissing the trophy. ESPN, suck a nut. glad I missed it then I would b**** and complain, but it's not worth it. I just enjoy watching the Sox when I can, and if it's not mentioned, I don't get my panties all bunched up anymore.
  8. Paco Martin, Lyle Mouton, Carlos Quentin, and Boone Logan. That's all I want.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) I like it. Who goes down? Carrasco? If so we might lose him obviously. I know it was only one appearance, but he was doing good at AAA too That's OK, he's a pretty crappy reliever anyways
  10. Bobby Murcer passed away; his comeback to the booth from a brain tumor was pretty courageous. I don't have much else to add other than RIP.
  11. sounds like a guy who will probably project to be a Mark Johnson type player with the upside of, say, a Brian Schneider.
  12. I also don't think Detroit is a real threat at this point. Their pitching is just going to be far too inconsistent and they've found out how old their offense actually is this season. They'll be a team you don't want to face down the stretch, but I see them at or around .500 at the end of the season, and it's probably going to take 90-94 wins to take the Central.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 05:05 PM) Absolutely. He gets recognition but is still underrated. He is right behind Rivera, IMO. I'd say he's far and away the best closer in the majors.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) Jim Thome's OPS is up to .876 on the season. ummmm but Thome sucks, hes only hitting like .240 or whatevar, he is the absolute suckiest player of like all time
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) Well, his 2006 2nd half was worse than his 1st half, then 2007 kept with that decline, then in the 1st half of 2008 he continued it again. So there are your 2 years if you want to get technical. You're counting a .917 OPS in the second half of 2006 and an .860 OPS in the first half of 2007 as a decline? Get f***ing real dude, those are perfectly acceptable numbers from a 1Bman, especially considering both are above his career average. Thanks for trying though. If anything, he's been in a decline for about a year, and he's done that before too - during the second half of 2002 (after he was a home run derby participant), he lost all of his power in the second half of the year. That carried over into the first half of 2003 and he was hitting below .200 at the ASB, although his season arguably turned around when he hit a game tying home run against the Minnesota Twins on July 2nd - I recall Roberto Alomar in the lineup and Carl Everett in uniform but sitting on the bench. He hit that homer and then Thomas hit a game winning two-run homer, which is one of Hawk's most famous calls probably of all time. He then came back with a .275/.346/.507/.853 line in the second half of 2003 and hit 40 homers in 2004. I doubt it'll be the exact same story this time around, but tonight alone proved that you don't just give up on a player because he's been through a rough stretch. I imagine Konerko will be a damn good hitter throughout the rest of the year and his time on the DL was a minor blessing in disguise as it allowed them to bring up Wise, who has proven to be a pretty capable lefty off the bench thus far.
  16. yeah I'm glad everyone always jumps to conclusions after losses...just a fantastic all around game. I love this team.
  17. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 04:02 AM) Yeah, I gave him the first 3 months, and he has been trending badly for a couple years now. He was average last year (compared to his entire career), and he had a phenominal year in 2006. You lose on the "trending for a couple years now." If anything, he's been trending that way for a year and a half. And you don't trade him midseason. Perhaps you attempt to in the offseason, but that's as far as I'd go. I would say that his career appears to be trending the way Eric Karros' went. And I also really wonder if PK wasn't on whatever the rest of the Cleveland Indians were on.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) Well, that'll happen on this site, but playing like garbage the past 4 days now hasn't helped. ' OH GOD NOT 4 DAYS, THE SKIES WILL OPEN AND BLOOD WILL FILL THE STREETS
  19. I recall a while back that someone either here or in an article mentioned a GM of a team being involved, though it was obscure and I don't recall where or when. This would apparently be this. Bowden has done a decent job of filling the Nats MLB team with talent, but he is still a pretty crappy GM overall and seeing this from him really doesn't surprise me in the least. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out over the next 5 years or so and what else is uncovered in this mess.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) The Twins are probably #6. Yeah I'm just going to completely disagree with this. I see their pitching staff falling apart in August.
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 12:34 AM) Heh, thanks, but I was actually being sarcastic because he said Because Konerko has 10/5 rights, he wont be traded. Once you ask Konerko to waive his no-trade-clause I think he might considering he is a good guy, and once you get asked that, then you realize they dont want you on the team, so. Good guys don't necessarily want to their home for half the season 1500 or so miles away from a place where they are comfortable. If I'm Paul Konerko, I would consider it a slap in the face more than anything. He's been off the disabled list of for all of 3 games. Give him a bit more time than that.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 12:54 AM) I never said we're horrible. Right now, we look dead. I hope to God they come out and kick the hell out of Texas tomorrow. Isn't dead worse than horrible? I mean, the Washington Nationals look dead to me, but that might only be because they're 15 games out. I just think any fan of a baseball team that is this extreme has to have stress related problems. Relax...there's still 2 and a half good months of baseball left to be played, and for all I know or care, this team could win 100 games or they might not finish .500. That's why they play the games, and worrying about two games in the middle of July shouldn't really be that big of a concern. This team doesn't look "dead"...they may not have been full of energy and 100% amped and ready to go, but close to probably 5 hours in airports and on airplanes last night and then ready to get up and play ball immediately today will take its toll on your energy, and Red Bull only does so much to help that. Let them get a full night's rest and see how they respond in the next two days.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) Isn't that usually how it works? We looked like Roger Clemens was on the mound yesterday, and tonight it seemed like freaking Nolan Ryan was out there. After we got down 4-1 yesterday, it seemed like the strategy in the 9th was "get out as soon as you can so we can go out and throw a few back" and today it looked the same. No, they would have actually beaten the f*** out of Clemens, like they have done in about 75% of the starts he has made against them this decade.
  24. oh well, team lost. Get up tomorrow and go out and there score some runs. Not much else can be done.
