Cabrera & Willis headed to Detroit (Per ESPNHD)
witesoxfan replied to joejoesox's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) Maybin is the star of this deal, but even he is more of a prospect than anything. If I'm the Tigers, I would have preferred Fields / Gonzalez / Floyd for Cabrera over this deal. With the talent that Maybin and Miller offer, there's no way I would take that; you have two players who may be very special players for you, whereas you just don't get that with the White Sox offer. -
Cabrera & Willis headed to Detroit (Per ESPNHD)

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:15 PM) ESPN just reported that the White Sox are supposed to make an announcement regarding Cabrera.... We have a Cabrera of our own. He's funnier looking, thinner, and plays shortstop. He'll hit about 30 fewer homers this year too. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 05:12 PM) And hasn't the Yankees offense been pretty much the best in baseball over that span? they've made it to the playoffs every year too

Rowand not ruling out return to South Side
witesoxfan replied to Chisox_fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Vance Law @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) I read (can't remember where, now) yesterday Rowand was looking for 5 years and $60 million. give it to him and let's cross that off the list. -
QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) Rauch isnt a white sox because he left the game he started early. Rauch was being sent down after the game and he told the sox he left in the 6th inning or so after he was pulled to get a jump on heading back to AAA. Basically he was never going to pitch for teh sox again, and i doubt we reacquire him Now see, that's a better reason as to why the Sox would have no interest in them. I'd forgotten the exact circumstances, but GHC brought it up in another thread.

QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) Rauch...Been There Done That....Mike Cameron 4 Home Runs, Need I Say More. Rauch gave up like 1 of those homers; you are referring more to Jim Parque then anyone else. Besides that, that's absolutely terrible reasoning. So yeah, you need to say a lot more to deject a pitcher like that. He's actually been a pretty damn good reliever for his past 230 innings or so; maybe you need to look at his history.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
witesoxfan replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) From Rotoworld: Would anyone be shocked if a Uribe-for-Rauch trade is in the works? Yes; the Sox would have to give up a hell of a lot more than Uribe to get Rauch. If they could, Bowden would have turned back into the idiot he was before. -
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) If they want to deal away Miller and Maybin, go ahead. And if they get rid of Inge at 3B because of it, go ahead. That would be the future and the heart of the team...and for that, the Tigers won't win. Sounds like they are trying to win within the next two years to me. I wouldn't trade my best LHP because they have Kenny Rogers, that's just dumb. He's like 87 years old. Uh...? They are acquiring a 24 year old 3Bman who is a top 5 hitter in the league; how are they exactly giving their future away? And they are trading their best LHP away so they can get one of the most marketable players in the entire game and a pretty damn good pitcher as well in Dontrelle Willis. You are acting as if they are seemingly just giving Maybin, Miller, and whoever else they'd have to give up away and not getting anything in return; quite the contrary is true, when they are getting cornerstone players of a franchise. To me, it sounds like they are trying to build an offensive powerhouse that will be around for years and years.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 02:22 PM) That would be a fantastic trade for the Orioles. I've never quite gotten a gauge; how good exactly is Matt Kemp?

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 09:12 AM) How long before the Nats regret this move ? They won't; they gave up a nobody with the potential for it to pay off big. If he blows up, oh well, cut him and forget him.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 08:56 AM) Fixed for clarity. Now you're just trying to stir the pot, because you know that's not always right, and that it wasn't the case in 2006. Sometimes he sucks, sometimes he's good, and I'm just really tired of him on the White Sox period. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 09:47 AM) I just hope it's not to platoon with Jerry Owens in CF. I still don't have any fear that the Sox will end up with Owens or Burke in CF next year; my only fear is Crisp or Patterson at this point.

Sox Acquire Carlos Quentin for Chris Carter; DFA Heath Phillips
witesoxfan replied to SoxFan1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Chombi @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) Agreed. I think I see what the intent was but Carter for Quentin is not anything like landing a King Felix for DLS. I do too, but this is a different scenario all together, which is why it was actually made possible. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) Just read on another site that Rowand has a 5 year offer from a team (not the Sox). I honestly don't know whether that is good or bad. I'm almost to the point where I say bring Andruw Jones in at almost all costs, because the next best options if f'ing Coco Crisp or Corey Patterson, and I hate the s*** out of both of those choices. -
Who would you rather have as a bench player ?
witesoxfan replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Willie Harris hates that you have forgotten him and hates that he was not an option, regardless of the fact that he is still Atlanta Braves property. -
Sox Acquire Carlos Quentin for Chris Carter; DFA Heath Phillips
witesoxfan replied to SoxFan1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Jeremy @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) If Quentin had a higher ceiling than Carter that'd be like trading DLS for Bucholz, Hughes, or maybe even King Felix. I don't know how on earth you can make that comparison; Quentin is coming off a shoulder surgery and had no room in Arizona. And besides that, you are talking about trading a top 50 pitching prospect for one of the top 5-10 young arms in the game; this is like trading a top 100 prospect for a former top 25 who just had surgery and has fallen out of favor with the organization he was in. -
Don Shula needs to go to hell.

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Nov 30, 2007 -> 11:34 PM) We all know that but I was curious if he thought so. I still wanna hear how the 2001 Mariners were the best baseball team ever. They lost the least amount of games. That distinction definitely belongs to the 1906 Cubs, and not the Mariners. And I for one always hear about the 1927 Yankees before the 1906 Cubs. -
Sox looking at Fukudome, Bay, not Rowand
witesoxfan replied to beck72's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) The rumored deal between the Indians and Pirates is Shoppach and Cliff Lee for Bay... are you kidding me? If this is true, what a f***ing steal by Cleveland. If you are the White Sox, you seriously just cannot let him go for that cheaply to a division rival, even if you don't like Bay long-term. -
Sox Acquire Carlos Quentin for Chris Carter; DFA Heath Phillips
witesoxfan replied to SoxFan1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't understand how this compares to the Lee/Pods deal at all. KW said that was a baseball move, but it really wasn't; it merely freed some payroll up and allowed the Sox to bring in 2-3 more good, cheap players into the mix. That's just dumb to compare it to Lee/Pods, but maybe that's just me personally. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) Marlins needs a center fielder, as they have great young corners in Hermida and Willingham. Would they dare take just a chance on Anderson?
