  1. Why in the s*** would the Sox get Furcal, Crisp, AND DeJesus?
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Is there an offense he fits in? LOL, I don't think so
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 05:27 PM) Did Kobe veto the deal because Ben was going? That would have been a fantastic deal for Chicago, imo, as they would have had the flexibility to go out and pick up a center via trade. I think it had to do with Wallace not fitting into the triangle offense very well.
  4. So if Kobe won't go to Chicago without Deng being there (I think I've read that), and the Lakers won't accept a trade without Deng in it...uhh, am I missing something?
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 05:14 PM) .350/.360? He's never posted an OBP above .345 but now after 2 seasons with a combined .324 OBP he's going to shoot up over .350? Yes Jerry Owens will also slug over .400.
  6. I didn't see an option for 6-pack of beer
  7. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) Crisp would be a decent late in the order hitter and a good left fielder. I still think Hunter or Rowand will be signed to play CF even if they do get Crisp. An offseason of Crisp, Rowand and Furcal would be a good one in my eyes... I think the first move will be aqcuirering that new SS. I just hope it is not Tejada.. There is no way in blue hell that the Sox would bring in both Rowand and Crisp. That's a terrible allocation of finances, would result in an absolutely terrible trade, and would leave the Sox begging for mercy from the baseball gods in the near future. I'm not sure the Giants or Orioles have had offseasons that bad.
  8. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) I love Ron Santo and Ron Santo was not better than Joe Crede defensively. Now for an entire career, yes, Santo should be in the Hall. I can't figure out why Sox fans won't admit this guy is not good, but a great fielder. Yes the pitching was more important to our WS victory WITE. But pitching is nothing w/out defense. To not admit the guy is a great fielder, in the same realm as Brooks, I think is stupid. He was one of the big keys to our WS victory with Dye, pitching, etc. Why aren't you slobbering all over Uribe's knob then too? Uribe is the one who made the two best defensive plays of the entire postseason in the 9th inning of game 4? Is he better than Ozzie Smith?
  9. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 07:31 AM) The Sox would be STUPID to give away Anderson. He's going to be a good player in this league. His failures have been just as much the Sox fault as his. In a better organization, such as Minnesota, he would be fine. There needs to be some major work done with his swing before he'll even be a respectable hitter.
  10. Also, the Red Sox WILL trade Crisp this offseason; I see no way they'll let someone make $5.5 mill on the bench. So, offer them scrap heap pieces and either let them accept or let someone else be robbed.
  11. Baseball Prospectus really wants the Sox to continue sucking. Suck mine Will Carroll
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) I really want ARod on the Marlins. It would be really sticking it to the Yankees. The Marlins get $30 million a year in revenue sharing, most from the Yankees. It would be like the Yankees were still paying him. and then trade Miguel Cabrera for a hell of a package of prospects
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) I hope everyone is aware that we basically have until Uribe's deadline to make a move. KW is only waiting that long because he is trying to see what he can get to play SS. I would say any big splash we make at that position will happen in the next several days. I don't quite buy that. Realistically, Uribe is going to want somewhere to start, and probability suggests he will be one of the last players brought in as a starting player. Thus, I can easily see the Sox declining it, to tell him they'll keep in touch but to seek other offers, and that they'll have an offer on the table for him if he or the Sox cannot find anything to their liking, which I see as very possible as well. I'm not too concerned.
  14. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 12:09 AM) C'mon, facts are facts. Brooks hit .267; Joe arguably would surpass Brooks' numbers if healthy for a career. Crede is a vaccuum; Brooks was as well. Crede was instrumental in our WS victory. Very key. Facts are facts, and different generations are different generations. There was a time when gas was $1 a gallon; now it's $3. Similarily, there was once a time when a .267 average was a pretty damn good average, and now it's no longer as good as it once was. 60 homers was heralded once upon a time, and it was done like 6 times within a 4 year period; that deteriorates a bit of the value, does it not? .267 yesterday is not the same as .267 today, so I'll absolutely disagree with that. Secondly, THE PITCHING WAS MORE KEY IN THE WORLD SERIES VICTORY THAN CREDE. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS. You are claiming that Crede = Brooks. That's outlandish at best. Crede is a good player, but not irreplaceable and he should not be looked upon as the savior.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 05:41 PM) In analyzing any deal for Kobe, you also have to factor in a year from now which players he will demand to be traded. Please stay away from him. just like you have to worry about him raping women too, right?
  16. that's really weird, I definitely just watched that commercial today
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3086804 Schilling retiring from Red Sox at least - maybe baseball. Kudos to a great career...now GTFO. Probably my most hated player of all time.
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) I am baffled that people actually want to see Bonds here. Why? Bonds is still one of the best hitters in the game, is one of the best hitters of all time, and is a huge fan draw, regardless of whether they boo him or cheer him. And don't use the steroids BS on me, because ARod could very easily be on it too, and that's an even bigger investment that would go down the drain; him, or any number of other free agents right now. He's never failed a drug test, so he's clean enough. Besides that, I made the remark tongue-in-cheek; I'd love Bonds, but I'd be surprised as all hell if the Sox are even mentioned in any rumors about him.
  19. What a douche. I wouldn't give him the chance; keep him in AAA and lose him to mlFA. It's not like you're getting s*** back for him at this point anyways, may as well make his dumbass pay for it for being a moron and lashing out, because last I checked, he was still under White Sox control.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 12:20 PM) I would take Robin Ventura in his prime over Joe Crede any day of the week and twice on sunday. Brooks Robinson my ass. What next Aaron Rowand is Willie Mays. No, he is Carl Yastrzemski; that's what Hawk says anyways
  21. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 11:59 AM) I call bulls*** on that. Joe Crede is Brooks Robinson. The modern day Brooks Robinson. His defense was crucial in the Sox winning the World Series, as well as his clutch hitting. SO WAS THE F'ING PITCHING
  22. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) I am hardly holding my breath after a season and a half of one of the worst Sox teams I've ever seen. And yes, watching Boston win again reminded me of how stinking horrible we were this year compared to their complete package of a team. For whatever it's worth, ESPN magazine did an "offseason" report on MLB teams and ranked us near the bottom, noting that while Ozzie says we'll be good in 2008--promise!--we keep resigning "old" players like Dye and A.J. Maybe that's a good thing, that nobody gives us a chance. Or maybe they're right. The Sox had no one coming up through the system in the outfield that's any good at the moment, and Dye was going to be the best option in FA in the outfield, and the Sox resigned him relatively cheaply. AJ is questionable, but the Sox still don't have a catcher coming up through the system, so frankly I've seen worse moves made.
  23. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 09:17 AM) Atlanta did not get raped. They got, basically, the Sox equivalent of Ryan Sweeney and Gio Gonzalez for a SS they can easily replace. Sure Renteria is good and I'd like to have him on the Sox but he's only signed for this year and an $ 11 mil. option next year plus he's not quite as good as he once was. He doesn't run much anymore like he used to. I think Atlanta did very well in this deal. And, the Tigers did well also. What does this say about the available FA SS's out there ? Why didn't the Tigers go after Eckstein ? I guess they figured there isn't much and a trade is necessary. Hello....White Sox ....??? It says the free agent shortstop - ie, the only one who I would legitimately ever consider starting for my team, David Eckstein - is bad. Tejada and Furcal are both still on the market, and I see one ending up in a Sox uniform, most likely Furcal.
  24. He hasn't said anything about ruling out Bonds though.
  25. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 11:40 PM) Thankfully he will move to 1st because of Renteria, not A Rod. Inge may move to the bench or a different team because of ARod though.
