  1. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) And plays left gd field. I imagine he could play a solid CF, but he never has. Could be a comfort thing I guess.
  2. In no particular order, I'll take Albert Pujols Alex Rodriguez Miguel Cabrera Curtis Granderson Vlad Guerrero Joe Mauer Victor Martinez Mark Teixeira Hanley Ramirez Prince Fielder Chase Utley Ryan Howard David Wright Grady Sizemore Matt Holliday over Carl Crawford without even the thought of a second thought. Carl Crawford is not an impact player, and he is not a guy you build a team around. He steals a lot of bases, hits about .310, and doesn't put up much power. Top 10 leadoff hitter, possible top 50 hitter in the game.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) What, no haiku? Sorry, just kidding. Couldn't help it. By the way, Gload was traded for Sisco, who I don't think anyone calls "grinder". Implying that Gload be kept over signing Erstad.
  4. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) I really wouldnt be surprised if Masset beat out Floyd for a spot in the rotation next year if Garland/Contreras is traded. Masset never got comfortable in the reliever role and has shown that he can still turn into an effective starter. What gives you that idea? Masset's 4.57 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 9 starts and 11 games at AAA (as opposed to Floyd's 3.12 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 17 starts)?
  5. I've never jumped off the Empire State Building.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) Ahhh! to this business statistics test that I've put off studying for until tonight (test is a 2:00 kickoff). Ahh! confidence intervals! Ahh! standard normal distributions! Ahh! That is not a class I look forward to taking
  7. Richard Justice on PTI (not exact, but close) "If you don't pick the Red Sox, you are not looking at reality. I've been wrong every step of the way, but I don't know how you could pick against the Red Sox." Wrong every step of the way, yet your choice is reality? K
  8. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) Other than if Josh Fields were to put up Ryan Howard type numbers... Josh Fields PA/HR - 18.2 Ryan Howard PA/HR - 15.8 That's their rookie seasons; that's really not that far off. Translated to 700 plate appearances - which is what Howard had in 2006 - Fields would have hit about 40 homers. If he were able to make better contact next year - which Howard also did (3.48 PA/K in 05, 3.88 PA/K in 06, 3.25 PA/K in 07, which played a part in the dropoff in average) - that rate would go up and he'd hit about 42-44 homers. Gavin Floyd winning the Cy Young, having a career ERA of 6.30 in 170 innings, is way stranger Josh Fields putting up Ryan Howard type numbers; hell, he might even be able to match the strikeouts.
  9. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) I dont think the Patriots will win. Right now I think the Colts are better, because if it comes down to who is going to score the most points, my money is on laser rocket arm. Are you serious? The Patriots have scored no fewer than 34 points, and have scored 38 or more 5 times already. And I think the Patriots' defensive struggles are overrated; most of the points they seem to be giving up are in garbage time (the Dallas game as exception off the top of my head). If it comes down to who is scoring more points, I'm gonna go with offensive genius and best wideout core in the league over laser rocket arm.
  10. It'd be asinine to not include Bourgeois on the 40-man after putting up a very solid year in the minors.
  11. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) No Wakefield for the World Series. Who starts Game 4? Beckett or Lester; those are pretty much their only options.
  12. WHO WAS DOUCHEBAG OF WEEK
  13. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 06:55 PM) From a BASEBALL fan's standpoint, not a Sox fans. 2005...seeing Roger Clemens get hit around gave me great pleasure
  14. See ya JP. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Speaking kindly now, he'll be a nice project for some team in the future; it just won't be the Bills.
  15. No, bring it to Vermillion and I guarantee atleast 1 person will be there
  16. If the Douchebag of the Week is not a member of the board, I shall kill you.
  17. QUOTE(beck72 @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 05:50 PM) If I was AZ, I'd offer Juan Cruz and Gonzalez/ Quentin. Don't think they'll give up either Lyon or Pena. I think I actually like Cruz more than Lyon, but he's going to have control problems too, and that's something I think the organization should be/are looking to avoid right now. Regardless, if they won't give up a middle reliever for a starter, then I really dont think they'd be interested in the first place.

    Saw IV

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) uhhh how did my avatar get changed from bartman to saw? haha, not that I mind. is easy. You used J4L's avatar as your avatar; he uploaded it from his computer, and thus both of your avatars are coming from the same location and are essentially the same picture. Once he uploaded the Saw avatar into the same location, again, essentially making it the same picture as the Bartman picture, your avatar changed as well. I smart.
  19. So how impossible would it be to get Carlos Gonzalez and Tony Pena from them? If anything, just don't tell me the Sox would have to settle for Quentin and Lyon from them; as much as I like those two, that just seems a bit below Garland's value, and while I like Lyon, his stuff and numbers just don't scream "consistent setup man" like Pena's do.
  20. I had Selvin Young sitting on my bench (who knows what will happen with that situation), have Steven Jackson coming back sometime soon (hopefully), and I just picked up Kevin Jones, so losing Brown doesn't absolutely destroy me. And I have Warrick Dunn in case like 2 or 3 of those guys literally fall off the face of the planet. Pretty sure my league is teh suck.
  21. QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) consistently fail? He's in the major leagues. Continually failing. And there is a difference. And, jeezus, I'm not talking about failing in life, and I'm not talking about just even failing in the major leagues;I'm talking about failing at his job this year, and his 6.80 ERA and 1.96 WHIP agree that he was failing.
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) You may be right, but I'm not so sure it wasn't just BA thinking he was the s***. I'd say it's both.
  23. I still don't buy that the Red Sox are absolutely that much better than the Rockies. The Red Sox have the obvious advantage at Fenway, but the Rockies also have an obvious advantage at Coors, not only because they are used to pitching in the thin air, but because the Red Sox are almost assured of losing either a .390 OBP, an .880 bat, Papi, who arguably had the best year of his career, or a huge amount of defense (I've seen people suggest putting Youkilis in the outfield, Lowell at SS, or Pedroia at SS with Youkilis at 2B). The Rockies are set in that regard. It also seems readily apparent to me that the Rockies are polar opposites in the field compared to Cleveland. There are two reasons why the Rockies cruised through the NL; one is because the NL is absolutely terrible, but the second is that they are a very good team. It should be an interesting series; I see Colorado stealing one in Boston, and then not letting it get back to Boston. However, I truly believe that if this series goes back to Boston for 6 and 7, Red Sox win, and thus, I'd be very surprised if the team that wins doesn't win it at home.
  24. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) This is exactly what this organization needs to be doing. If you don't play the free agent market and you don't draft well, then it's imperative that you concentrate on international signings and player development. Keep going throughout Latin America ! There have been problems drafting, but in my mind, player development is by far the biggest cause of concern within the organization. Brian Anderson had the potential to be a Torii Hunter player, but the White Sox organization only properly trained him to be a AAA quality player.
