Giolito really pissed off JR and vice versa with Lucas' family. Would be shocked to see a reunion without a bargain/extreme value deal on the table.

If Justin Turner's walking away from $13 million at age 39 and more a DH than 3B now...Anderson will have 3-5 offers in the $24-30 million range over two years at the very least.

The problem is someone like Amed Rosario (who was obviously solid in 2022) is going to be terribly overpaid because there's just so little middle infield talent on the market... And then expecting the Sox to pay through the teeth for FA starting pitching? Just no way...

That Sosa's one of the so called best Sox position prospects tells you everything you need to know.

If the goal was 1.2 in attendance or less...they're well on their way to complete and utter irrelevance.

Way too many fumbles from Caleb Williams...thirty in less than three full NCAAF seasons.

Cease Kopech ??? Touki Scholtens Nastrini/Mena/Eder

You mean they paid $1 million not to have to pay him close to $20 million?

Paul Jokisch to Michigan fans ...

Better than... Hostetler Haber Boston Any of those who ran the KC Royals anti-porn seminar Any of the Sox hitting coaches since Steverson Vizquel/Helms Garfien/McDuffey

https://sports.yahoo.com/liam-hendriks-wins-al-comeback-231332759.html For Luis Robert as the only other option for Brooks Boyer, really need a Gold Glove award for LuBob and a Top 10 MVP finish...not 100% sure he gets either one. Feels sad they're relying a bit too much on this Hendriks cancer recovery theme, when rushing him back before he was 100% ready led to even more health problems for Liam and his family to overcome. In the end, it's JR's money (obviously) but have a feeling we will regret the actual results on the field after the injury return, but maybe he will continue to amaze all the naysayers and inspire the team to at least get back to respectability (playoff appearance just too far out of the question barring a Lazarus-level miracle).

Can always go after Justin Turner, lol...

Couldn't break plane of 2B before a pitch though...

Did Grandal have any other choice than straight to retirement?

Meanwhile, the much cheaper Muncy errr Jake Burger will be in Miami in his last Pre-arbitration season. Good players tend to want to play for winning teams that want them back....generally tend to come off the board quite quickly. Probably quite a few thought he would be closer to one year $9-12 million at his career stage.

Of course we saw some of the consequences with Jose, Garland and Freddy Garcia down the stretch in 2006 and onwards...even Buehrle, although he recovered career-wise.

Vitale-ism. Hero worship. Coach K included. Indiana players from the 70s and 80s swear by him. Late 80s and onward...not so much from the more modern generation of ballplayers starting with the likes of Calbert Cheaney and Jay Edwards. He was just other version of Normal Dale from Hoosiers. Same issues with the likes of Paterno, Jim Jordan, MSU, Northwestern, Tressel/Meyer, now Harbaugh. Can't leave out large swathes of Iowa coaches like Chris Doyle and the Ferentzes.

They didn't decapitate the minor leagues...they cut what, something like 35-40 teams? That was roughly 20-25% depending on how you account for short season teams. I hardly can believe that there was ever going to be a turnaround or renaissance in economically-challenged cities like Clinton Burlington and Waterloo, for example.

Or Dayton Moore as the Getz mentor, who just added WS title #3 with Rangers...or pretty sure #4 if you include one 90's era Braves' team led by Glavine Smoltz Maddux Chipper Andruw and Javier Lopez.

Mets? Yankees?

Will have to constantly refer to the Royals and Braves, for one thing. And pretend he leveraged Rice players into future stardom. The funny thing is that NCAA salaries are blowing MLB out of the water in recent years. Then you have JR’s reputation for underpaying (lone exceptions TLR and Cooper) coaching and front office staff. Must have been the powerful title that was roughly 75% of the enticement.

Greg...news bulletin: the pronounced shift defensive alignment is out.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/course-tv-ratings-diamondbacks-v-210653982.html This writer argues it doesn't matter one iota.

Texas Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, who struggled with his fielding last season, has made a remarkable transformation and is now a finalist for the Gold Glove award. Lowe, who won the Silver Slugger award last season, spent the offseason and spring training working on his defense and has impressed with his improved glove work this season. He credits his success to his hard work, as well as the influence of slick-fielding shortstop Francisco Lindor and the guidance of Rangers coaches Tony Beasley and Corey Ragsdale. Lowe’s impressive turnaround is a testament to his determination and dedication to the game. https://bvmsports.com/2023/10/19/texas-rangers-nathaniel-lowe-goes-from-worst-fielding-1b-to-a-gold-glove-finalist/ Tony Beasley was brought over from the Pirates' organization by Jeff Banister originally when he managed the Rangers. Know these guys well from time in Augusta in 1990s and they are both really hard workers and personally self - disciplined with leadership qualities galore.

Once again, it's not accidental they have GG candidates at five positions...Lowe at 1B going from worst in OOA in 2022 to something like second over in 2023.
