Like Thor… They can’t afford another arm/elbow injury with Kopech or the rebuild really is in jeopardy.
-
Kopech is definitely top 3-5 on the team in terms of how intensely he works out…
-
Could audibly hear an “ oh my God” when the training staff when out to check on Kopech.
-
Cease has gotten better and better, except for pitching deep into games. This is mostly about Kopech and Giolito, who hasn’t been in that 95-97 range for years now. Lopez has rediscovered his stuff in then pen but so inconsistent/erratic as a starter in terms of what kind of FB he’d feature from start to start. Lynn it’s all about Father Time, injury, stamina and conditioning/nutrition program or lack thereof.

Moonfall is probably more accurate with these guys.
-
3.58 ERA and rapidly falling. Saw the same thing last year second half…especially after the injury return.

Giolito, Lynn, Cueto, Thor all come to mind.

If the Sox trade for Juan Soto we have a chance.

Becoming a fashion photographer seems an easier, albeit slimier route. Or modeling agency/pageant organizer like a certain political family. Celebrity or “socially-influencer” enough to be connected to such individuals (in the 60’s through 90’s it would be having enough of a cultural footprint to get invited to the Playboy Mansion). Or simply become a billionaire. All easy routes, lol. -

Plus it's pointless to spend the prospect capital for just 2 1/2 years of control unless they were willing to pony up $375-425 million for an extension. That would only be 5-6x larger than the Grandal deal. -
That was WBWF or whatever the name is that writes yearly enquiring about a management position.

Even Kopech and Cease are far from ideal considering they're realistically looking at a 3-5 year rebuild. That only leaves Robert and Vaughn, plus minor league pieces like Vera, Montgomery or Colas (one or two). Then you have that appreciable risk that Robert and Vera could out produce Soto alone. -
https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimingraham/2021/03/29/the-cleveland-indians-pitching-factory-continues-to-churn-out-starters/?sh=28446ee45eed “No organization finds and develops impact pitchers and gets them ready to contribute at the major league level quicker than Cleveland. When it comes to pitchers, their evaluators have an enviable track record, to the point they sometimes buy bulk. Three of the five pitchers in this year’s rotation were acquired in the 2016 draft, and none of them were first-rounders. Or second-rounders. No. 3 starter Aaron Civale was selected in the third round, Bieber in the fourth round, and No. 2 starter Zach Plesac in the 12th round. The No. 5 starter, Triston McKenzie, a first-round pick in 2015, hadn’t pitched competitively in over a year due to injuries when he made his major league debut on August 22 last year, a 6-1 win over Detroit in which he pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk.” Interesting the featured pitcher in this article (Allen, from SD) completely imploded… https://awaybackgone.com/2021/07/14/cleveland-indians-2021-mlb-draft-pitchers-pitchers/ “The 2021 MLB Draft has come and gone and the Cleveland Indians have added 21 new players to the organization. What might be the most shocking aspect is that of those 21 players added, 19 are pitchers. Cleveland has been called by the Pitching Factory for a few seasons now, but this takes the discussion to a whole new level. Of the 21 selections, the Tribe spent the last eight on pitchers after having already taken 11 in the first 11 rounds of the draft. The club also took a shortstop in the third round and an outfielder in 12th, but the mass amount of arms is something that seems crazy.”

You would be better off melting it down and recasting as a Little League trophy as those are the fundamentals this team has come to be associated with.
-
Kind of bittersweet with his level of play the last 2-3 weeks and the Sox current predicament. It does go to show his intrinsic marketing value to the franchise, as clearly the most nationally recognizable player on the team over Abreu and Robert.
-
As long as you wall him off completely from personnel decisions...or they will end up with another set of DBacks trades for ex Cardinals.
-
17 years seems like a lifetime ago, honestly.
-
Except Pollock Madrigal and Heuer all have 0 or negative fWAR.
-
Might as well trade Hendriks and Graveman, see if Lopez can close in the second half...not just September.

Why does Hahn deserve a lifetime employment contract? JR will suddenly reverse course to blame TLR instead?

I would only trust that if you flipped front offices with CLE, TB, MIL, HOU, LAD, ATL, SFG or MIN. Letting Hahn do it again is insane.
-
Hire Phil Rogers and Bruce Levine. Would actually be better off just hiring everyone at FG or Baseball America.

Hostetler wasn't good enough for the Braves...
