Cruz Missile. No relationship to Cuban Tank. There's yet another defensive lapse.

Clevinger averaged about 5.2 innings per start last year...fwiw.

Need a reclamation success like Jose Contreras, Martin Perez, Loiaza 2003. Rodon was it, and Cueto last year.

Colas late on the fastball even on 3-0. Coaxes a walk. That's a big positive. Keep the line moving.

Poor man's Javy Vazquez.

31 pitches and counting this inning. Knockout blow there. Slowed down with a change up and sped up Grandal bat head.

95 center cut couldn't square it up. Still a game for now...

And he will get 5-6 years from someone in "win now" mode. Book it. He's a much more dynamic DJ LeMahieu...minus the walks.

Key at-bat of the game coming here... Velasquez hurt?

Grifol is obviously at least attempting to change the subdued tone of this team from last year...but we still don't have the D and bullpen that the Twins and Guardians throw at you.

So we can eventually part ways with him...just like Rodon? That's going to be the sad part...because TA won't give another team-friendly deal to anyone. He wants to get paid.

Montgomery would have been the additional ask...they're pretty much building their future around Chisholm being a star.

The Marlins were never going to fall for that...they already have Avi and Soler, lol.

Not for 1-2 more years than any other team was willing to give...that was the centerpiece addition of "the money will bring spent," along with the Lance Lynn extension and Hendriks. Now Benintendi. Three complementary players at this stage in their careers. And Liam.

For Perez/Zavala...? At least the Sox will keep cutting payroll, there's that. Colas continues to show the ability to hit to all fields...and energy on the basepaths.

When all is said and done...Hahn's mismatch of Grandal, Lynn, bullpen veterans and assorted castoffs did the Sox young core no favors. Giolito also going from All-Star to backend starter hasn't helped much either.

That looked familiar. Velasquez is throwing the ball well early again too...just like Clevinger.

How many wins do you need by the ASB to still be IN?
Looks like the Twins are going to be the team to chase again in the first half...

Well this is his second season coming off major surgery. Unfortunately the same can't be said for Kopech, but that might be a result of the lower body issues the last two years.

That's always the trick...second time through the order. His body language is a lot better than previously. Used to be a notoriously slow worker. Now he's just playing catch...just kind of like F it, whatever happens happens attitude.

He was terrible last year. The new pitch clock and having the weight of the world against him seems to have motivated him to a degree. Or not...lol.

Pirates seem to have a lot of momentum...crowd support on their side for the moment.

TB pitching coaches can fix him lol. I mean...the White Sox are just lighting money on fire the last two years. Would much rather have 5-6 lottery tickets with live arms than whatever it is we have now. Between Leury, Kimbrel/Rodon, Kelly, Diekman, Harrison, Andrus (2023)...

Ozzie: Sox had stolen Astros' signs in 2005
Still trying to distract from the Sox players' struggles even from the broadcast booth/studio.

https://www.si.com/mlb/athletics/news/shintaro-fujinami-as-advertised-in-first-spring-start $3.25 million Currently throws 95-98 mph. Has held TB without a run in the first 3+. Sad we're getting outscouted by the freaking A's simply due to geographic proximity. Man, the Rays are going to be tough to beat this year...not the greatest level of competition from opponents so far but they have a really good vibe around that team going now and just keep rolling along.
