Is it time to give TLR his due? And maybe some apologies?

Trevor Bauer receives 2 YEAR suspension from MLB
caulfield12 replied to Kyyle23's topic in The Diamond Club
I didn’t say he wasn’t liable or responsible. That’s not the question at all. He will undoubtedly have to pay a huge NDA settlement. It’s what happens next? If there’s not a criminal trial, which there probably won’t be, then what happens next to his career? It all depends on any documentation that Bauer produces to back up his claims…and secondarily, what is a “reasonable standard of care” when one is participating in consensual/pre-agreed to BDSM? He crossed the line, surely…but everything comes down to he said/she said except for the skull fracture, obviously. For example, in the court of public opinion, is this worse than/equal to DeShaun Watson? Why/why not? -
Ian Kennedy and Gallo works, but it’s going to take at least Crochet and Sheets/Burger…Burger has more value because he can play third IMO. The extra year of control for Gallo and his last two months of production raises the price substantially.

Surely that will work. We’re not in a Korean drama here…and it’s not like TLR or JR will apologize to fans for not adding at the trade deadline or especially if we lose in the ALDS to Boston or Houston (etc.) and both Lynn and Rodon eventually leave the team via FA. If we get to the World Series, or at least the ALCS and TLR isn’t perceived like RR last October as being one of the primary reasons for the loss, that’s the appropriate time for such a thread. Remember, fifteen years ago, we were 26 games over .500 at the ASB and nobody would have ever dreamed there would be just two playoff appearances in a generation to look forward to. -
Sounds more like Adolfo…

“too probate the foot which mechanically goes with lower leg internal rotation“ I was just trying to make a joke to lighten the tense mood but missed the mark since you were in ultra serious medical terminology mode. Maybe some of the injuries need to be placed on probation. Prostrate….prostate, too many autocorrections. Neither of those are good, especially for men.

Quite the mess…would we have ever heard of this story if Bauer was an insurance agent earning $75,000 per year? The collision of private, supposedly consensual actions and the #metoo movement. Obviously he’s liable for her injuries or going too far…but “safe word” has been out there in the general public at least since 50 Shades of Grey, if not much longer. -

Well, the Indians are still a long ways from getting Civale and Bieber back, but Plesac returns tmrw against KC. Civale was given permission recently by Dr. Thomas Graham to start playing catch to test the injured middle finger on his right hand. Civale was leading the AL with 10 wins when he went on the injured list following his start against the Cubs on June 21. Antonetti said Bieber, whose last start was June 13, will undergo another exam this weekend to help determine when he can pick up a baseball again. He went on the injured list with an inflamed subscapularis muscle in the rotator cuff of his right shoulder. “It’s safe to say we’re still weeks away,” said Antonetti, when asked when Civale and Bieber could rejoin Plesac in the rotation. cleveland.com/sports If it was the premature demise of Abreu, that would be more worrisome. Somewhere out there is another version of Ron STILL waiting for Nelson Cruz to stop hitting. But I’m not altogether sure “OUR Ron” could survive another 5-6 years of Jose producing. -
Wonder how Drake LaRoche is handling the news?

So the whole unwritten rules controversy with Yermin, the DUI, the over reliance on bunting, strange bullpen decisions and lack of defensive positioning, LH/RH crap…all were part of some grand strategy to unite the team together? How Ozzie-like. You realize you’re staking a position now just to stoke a controversy that you’re going to have to continually defend in the future, like Giolito and Parkman. In fact, Hibbard finally gave up on the bombardment of positive threads, realizing you can’t force posters to change their perspectives, anymore than SoxTalk requiring members to read and write a book report on How to Win Friends and Influence People would change the tone of 95+% of sports related boards on the internet. -

T. McKenzie, 10 starts, 6.38 ERA JC Mejia, 6 starts, 6.16 ERA Logan Allen, 7 starts, 9.13 ERA S. Hentges, 7 starts, 8.22 ERA Eli Morgan, 5 starts, 8.44 ERA If you removed 35 starts from the White Sox rotation and gave them a $50 million budget instead of $130+ million (and traded Tim Anderson and Giolito, the equivalents of Lindor and Carrasco before the season) what would happen? I guess the better question is would Ventura, Bevington and Manuel NOT have this 2021 White Sox team in first place? Especially when their second place opponent has lost 11 out of 12 games now. -
I’m guessing the main targets will be the working poor in urban areas…underserved minority communities, etc. That said, governors like Justice in WV and Hutchinson in ARK are starting to realize that they need to campaign more actively against misinformation campaigns or become hotspots like southern Missouri and the Ozarks due to young people congregating during the summer.

Marquee Network, that 10-12 games over .500 roll was nice while it lasted…months of bitterness and recriminations coming soon. At least the ownership group/family won’t attract any vitriol, haha.

Main players affected there (DH) would be Burger, Sheets, Goodwin and whichever catcher wasn’t on the field. We can debate Grandal’s limited season until the cows come home, but he kept the lineup at least viable the last month or so before going down again. Looks like Leury has found a home at second and Hamilton a place in TLR’s heart as well. Ironic that Rodon and Hamilton are two of the biggest offseason moves, with 90% of the debate reserved for Lynn/Dunning, Eaton and Grandal vs. McCann.

Teams like SF, Milwaukee and the Rays/A’s have done more with less (Giants on the pitching front), but Hahn at least gets a B or B- so far. Can’t imagine the bullpen implosion with Colome. Hendriks’ confidence/swagger really rubbing off. It’s one of just a few examples of Sox being helped and Twins hurt simultaneously in the last couple of decades. We can also argue over McCann vs. Grandal, but the predicted pitching implosion never occurred. James on this year’s team wouldn’t miraculously give Lucas back his 2019-20 stuff. More importantly, we’re developing guys like Vaughn and especially Burger and Sheets one year earlier…building up some needed depth (starting pitching front, not so much.) Also, Billy Hamilton one of the best under the radar moves, IMO.
-
Cespedes coming up. With some of the promotions this year, at this point, nothing would really be all that shocking. Fwiw, Eaton and Mercedes helped carry the team in April…it wasn’t worth $7 million or whatever, but both those guys made important contributions early.

The second-worst scenario The worst-case scenario for Pfizer and Moderna was that their COVID-19 vaccines wouldn't work. The second-worst scenario might be that their vaccines work too well. Washington University School of Medicine immunologist Ali Ellebedy led a team of researchers attempting to determine how long the protection provided by messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines would last. Their findings were recently published in Naturemagazine. The key takeaway from this research was that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine could provide immunity for years. And while Moderna's vaccine wasn't included in the study, Ellebedy thinks it would likely provide similar longevity because of its similar mRNA approach. There's a major financial implication with this recent finding for Pfizer and Moderna. If their vaccines provide protection against COVID-19 for years, the companies won't sell nearly as many vaccine doses in future as they will in 2021 and 2022. https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/07/07/could-pfizer-and-moderna-now-face-their-second-wor/?source=eptyholnk0000202&utm_source=yahoo-host&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=article With Delta and Lambda, BigPharma still has plenty of profits to make from boosters and adjusting to all the world variants/mutations in real time. They’re talking about Alpha.

He had one really productive, healthy season with the Sox. A total tease, just like Rodon until this year.

Surprised nobody mentioned Avisail Garcia…as polarizing as they come.

Make your own slip and slide was a nice improv comment…gotta give him that.

Can’t believe Goodwin actually caught that one.

Who in the bullpen holds that game together…even had that catch been made?
