Stearns >>> Rays front office Wander Franco hasn’t been doing much…and Franmil’s back jacking homers. Not often TB blows 4-0 and 5-1 leads behind Rich Hill.

Watch out, Ron is going to report you to mods.

Rodon, Lynn, Hendriks, Anderson all stars

Glasnow would have been the choice before injury…so Grandal can blame Manfred. -
LHP or batters against RHP? Let’s hope the last four games of Vaughn continues a trend in this regard…

Or they’re showcasing Burger and Sheets for potential trade partners…

“In addition to staying within the Tatis family, the White Sox also inked 22-year-old Cuban shortstop Yolbert Sanchez, a former teammate of Luis Robert's on the Cuban national team; 16-year-old Dominican third baseman Wilfred Veras, who according to Sanchez has been compared to Edwin Encarnacion; and two 16-year-old Dominican pitchers, Cristian Mena and Erick Bello.” https://www.milb.com/player/elijah-tatis-691528 0/8 so far “Among them is another Dominican third base prospect, who just so happens to be the son of a former major leaguer: Wilfred Veras, son of former Boston Red Sox third baseman Wilton Veras. Veras signed for $200,000, and not only is Veras the son of a major leaguer, he also happens to be a nephew of Fernando Tatis himself. Gotta love those family connections! Francys Romero of MLB believes Veras has 55-grade power, which is quite impressive for someone who’s yet to turn 17.” https://www.southsidesox.com/2019/7/3/18716439/white-sox-yolbert-sanchez-elijah-tatis-international-class-of-2019-wilfred-veras-cristian-mena-bello

Not for a slump lasting in the months and not weeks…if he gets really serious about getting back up, working on his catching and physical conditioning, he’ll be back in the majors, somewhere. -

I see where you also worked pest into this…the midseason quote that is only rivaled by TLR’s drunken HoFer, bro recording.

Herschel Walker was the name coming to mind…obviously no football competition, though. But an amazing athlete.

Do we have SoxTalk awards for best idle speculation? Without any inside information, all one can do is guess. In the end, it was just the White Sox being careful or conservative with a valued outfield throwing arm if he has even 75% of the same tools as his cousin.

If only he could be more like Jake Burger!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_athletes_who_competed_in_both_the_Summer_and_Winter_Olympic_games Ummm….but only two with gold medals in both.

Rodon/Boras would ask for 4/$70-75 million and Lynn at least 3/$50-55 million. Huge risk with health for Rodon and age/spin rate decline for Lynn. That means you’re definitely not going to resign Gio…which most would be fine with based on 2021. But then you’re skating on the edge of disaster unless the payroll is miraculously upped to the $145-160 million range.

That’s exactly what was said originally about Alexei Ramirez, Escobar and Semien, too.

They have the makings of a top rotation with three talented youngsters now in place…Torkelson and Greene on the way, but the biggest question for the immediate future is how much the son is willing to spend as owner, compared to the father. Of course, Cabrera is also a heavy drag on payroll but at least there’s now light at the end of the tunnel. The Tigers in the short term need to deal Schoop and Boyd, and figure out what to do with Fulmer as well.
-
They can’t afford to trade any starters at the big league level…the odds of reaching October with all six still healthy are skim and none. If anything, they should be adding to the pen and potentially another starter as additional insurance.
-
Don’t forget Thome for not bunting against the shift ala Grandal this week.
-
He was at least pretty good for decent stretches of 2008…leading to the last playoff appearance for 12 years.
-
That would cost half our farm system…he’s their franchise player.
-
All of these tricky slides…pull back the hands at the last second or do the gator arm thing to deke the infielders.
-
Keep Seth Rogen or Jonah Hill away from it please.
-
Well, they can choose between Burdi and Marshall. Although it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world to build up Foster or Ruiz to 2-3 inning stints as spot starters in Charlotte.

Yeah, just noticed he’s already at 20 homers and 46 RBI’s after doing nothing early in the season. Kennedy alone is most likely scenario.
