  1. Almost 100. Love how Sox fans come out of the woodwork when we beat up Detroit. Let’s hope you are around for every single game thread the next week, and posting so optimistically when we actually face some real competition.
  2. I’m going to guess you’re under 30 years old, right? 35? Those who have been Sox fans since the 70’s and 80’s never allow themselves to become too overconfident like Millennials. I mean...it’s not like we don’t have a century’s plus worth of sky is falling in the history of the franchise.
  3. Yes, the old luck excuse. Greg would love to hear that one analyzed by the sabes people, lol. As soon as Bummer and Heuer start making their own luck, things will suddenly look a lot better. Wonder how much more the asking price is on Starling Marte compared to Nelson Cruz...
  4. Blue Jays with eight homers today, including #21 by Vladdy Jr.
  5. Mariners will have at least a five run lead heading into the bottom of the 9th today...looking to tack on at least one more.
  6. As soon as we go from an underdog to favorite mentality (see Goodwin quotes), that’s when the problems usually begin. See 2021 Sox bullpen, billed as potentially one of the best in baseball history coming into the year.
  7. The Yankees are dead in the water without Severino being able to lead a second half charge...too many injuries, too tough a division to get through.
  8. It is to any Sox fan who gets overconfident, lol...but probably only appreciated by those over 35 or 40.
  9. Would have been nice not to have to use Hendriks yet again heading into this Hell Week.
  10. Why do we always try to jinx ourselves, lol? Remember the same talk at different points of 2003 and 2006. If we go 4-3 or 5-2 through the next week, then we can start to look forward a bit.
  11. We will get the best of the Rays’ rotation with Wacha spot starting today... Moncada really scuffling the last 7-10 days. Need him to be a Top 10 MLB player again. In many ways, the most important player on the team (along with TA), especially with Robert, Madrigal and Jimenez out.
  12. He knew Vaughn would miss it...thus forcing him to take Rodon out of the game, thus saving his arm/shoulder for the second half and postseason. Would have taken too much heat if he pulled him with no hitter still in front of him.
  13. fWAR has really taken a hit...0.3 on the season.
  14. Yankees looking to be just one game over .500, alone in fourth in the AL East with Severino reinjured making his second minor league rehab start...this might be our best shot, JR/RH/KW. Please note. Opportunity knocking. Red Sox, Astros/A’s, Rays all have some pretty notable flaws. Tatis, Jr., just hit his second GS (19) to stop bleeding for the Padres against a very tough Mets’ rotation...
  15. In the end, we didn’t need to push Rodon to 110-115 pitches at 98-99 mph. Blessing in disguise, probably.
  16. Heartbreaker Haase...has bedeviled us all season. Great effort, Vaughn just lacked the top speed to get there, and the homeplate umpire as well to make some calls.
  17. Logan Gilbert has been getting better each time out after a rough first series of starts...
  18. 31 pitches to get nine outs, basically....Buck Ro(d)gers battery, haha.
  19. Social Media Influencers in Cook County Promote Vaccine: ‘Just Go Do It’ Beth is one of roughly 50 social media influencers using their platforms to share information about the COVID-19 vaccine and their own experiences getting vaccinated as part of Cook County’s “My Shot” campaign targeting 18- to 34-year-olds, who are among the most hesitant to get vaccinated. “We were really deliberate in choosing folks who had ZIP codes inside Cook County because the hope is that their followers are primarily in the same geographic areas and live in the same neighborhoods and experience the same things every day,” said Caryn Stancik, chief communications and marketing officer of Cook County Health. “That was really important to us and it’s perfectly fine if they have influence beyond Cook County.” Beth says that while many of his followers praised his decision to get vaccinated, some 2,000 people unfollowed him on Instagram as a result. “Losing the followers doesn’t matter to me,” Beth said. “I’m still promoting what I think is right.” ... In addition to working with social media influencers, Cook County officials partnered with the Chicago White Sox to host on-site vaccinations, held ticket giveaways for Six Flags Great America and hosted college vaccination days. The $1.5 million “My Shot” campaign launched earlier this year and is slated to run through August, but could be extended, according to officials who expect to be reimbursed for the campaign via federal funds. https://news.wttw.com/2021/06/03/social-media-influencers-cook-county-promote-vaccine-just-go-do-it
  20. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/billionaires-pay-no-taxes-while-workers-get-no-raises-120116788.html Conversation Rabbit would enjoy surely led by a job creator who didn’t inherit a cent from his /her parents. Andrew D 16 hours ago Oh boy, there is a lot of bull in this article. So here goes: 1) The "tax avoidance schemes" you're talking about aren't some magic accounting tricks. They are longstanding tax breaks that encourage people to give to charity and invest. 2) The people who increase their net worth through investments will be taxed on those investments when they cash them out. So the payment to your friend the tax man is delayed but does not disappear. Taking a snapshot of a time when those assets have grown and no taxes have been paid on them and saying this is what we're calling the "true tax" is so misleading that it's a lie. 3) Yes, people generally prefer to pay smaller amounts of taxes if they can structure their lifestyles around it. This is actually exactly what the government - and particularly Democrats - want, in order to control you. Buy a house cuz there's a tax break. Buy an EV because there's a tax break. Give to charity because there's a tax break. Invest in a low-income area because there's a tax break. 4) If I worked for Facebook, Amazon, or Oracle, I would definitely prefer if the head of my company were paid primarily in stock instead of salary so that their decisions are directly aligned with the success of the company. 5) I agree, the national parks are one of the few examples of taxpayer money being spent in a responsible way. You'll be hard pressed to name more than about 5 such examples where the government has been responsible and efficient with our money. sk 13 hours ago 1) This is a "sales in a box" transaction among many legal tax methods. Turn her own asset into a risk free asset and borrow against it with extreme low interest rate. Tax free, voila. I.e. Spending the return without paying tax now. 2) See 1) on how to reap the gains now without paying tax now. 3) Indeed, but all politicians wants to control others, don't they? In fact, government policies are intended to influence behaviors and added as guardrails. 4) Perhaps for short term. On the contrary, some corporates/major investors has finally awakened to the importance of ESG on corporate behaviors for long term mutual benefits. 5) True, government definitely is not the efficient on spending our money. Would love to hear better options. Free market along definitely not working for many. Andrew D. 12 hours ago 1) So I get to pay interest AND capital gains tax on investment gains?! Wow! That sounds like a sweet deal for sure! If I buy a $100k house and work on it for a year, spending $100k in materials and outside labor, and it appreciates to a $300k house after that time, money, and effort, then I can do the same thing. I can take out a mortgage against my house and not pay taxes on that loan. 2) This new "true tax" term is just ridiculous because it's not factoring in the tax liability. If I received stock as part of my compensation package, and those stocks are now worth $1 billion, then even though I may have paid little to no income tax, I still have a tax liability that is currently about $200 million. That amount will go up or down as the current value of the stock fluctuates, and for all intents and purposes, that tax liability is the same thing as taxable income that we less successful people pay tax on each year. 3) Nooo, not all of them. There are some politicians who actually have the goal of keeping government's influence at a minimum - both socially and economically. 4) Earnings are not the only driver of stock price. Stock prices a direct reflection of the value of the company, which includes present earnings, earnings potential, assets, stability, public perception, and dozens of other factors that may be quantifiable or not. The better the company, the higher the market cap. 5) The free market is the best option - by far, despite being imperfect
  21. But he’s not a good defender...especially in center.
  22. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/leury-garcia/5913/stats?position=OF LaRussa must have only watched him in 2017...other than that year, he has never approximated a 2+ fWAR value over a limited number of at-bats. 2019, the definition of a replacement level player. This year 0.0 value in almost 200 plate appearances. Can blame Hahn for this state of affairs.
  23. Dodgers lost by 11 to Rangers. Bauer gave up 6 (4 earned) and Nate Jones gave up another 4. Sox +103, Indians -4 LAD 89 TB 78 Houston 75 SFG 74 SDP 63
  24. Let’s have TA7 coach the bullpen...and just stay away from Hendrik’s Red Bull stash.
