Marc Belanger should be in HOF.
https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask/most-gold-gloves-not-in-hall-of-fame The problem is most of the voters now didn't watch Belanger play in person and games were hardly available except the weekend national coverage... Secondly, defensive fWAR is a bit trickier to objectify than offensive numbers...especially going from SS to CF/outfield comps. Outof curiosity, what was Garry Maddox putting up in his prime, or Devon White? Some would argue that Jim Edmonds was the best CFer of his generation...for example.

That's basically the Omar Vizquel argument...or was. What about Paul Blair?

Official NBA 25-26 Thread
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/47014993/mens-basketball-freshman-year-contenders-ranking-top-10-cameron-boozer-aj-dybantsa-darryn-peterson Some incredible talent in that class. Flemings will go Top 3-5. Not sure if the athletic if Boozer has the athleticism at next level but definitely the motivation/heart/competitiveness. Dybantsa and Wilson are getting a lot of attention, rightfully so...and everyone's afraid of taking OR NOT taking Peterson.

2026 Spring Training Thread
They would almost be better off showcasing him the first half. But he's going to run into Hays for DH bats as well. That would also require sitting Meidroth. A weak side DH with poor defense just pretty much has the same value as a Miguel Andujar/Sheets type...more value to the Sox than most other teams due to their lack of pop from other positions.

White Sox 18th on 26 and under power ratings
Well...since I was less than 10km from Ground Zero of Covid breaking out in Wuhan and went through almost three years of lockdowns, left that part out. Actually quite fascinating how a country of 1.4 billion could so easily be controlled virtually overnight...as almost no one lives in regular two story individual houses or apartments with all parking underneath the building. Every building/complex has a gate (or multiple ones) and extensive fencing with security cameras. The way I was asked/accused of living in "Chy-nah" was why I answered in this fashion. It's fine. A mod will come along and erase it anyway. It wasn't so much the original comment as the constant "piling on" effect. (Well, at least one poster reached out to apologize so that was well appreciated. Everyone is a human being behind their screen names, after all.)

19 Bally RSN's going bankrupt, 14 MLB teams potentially affected
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/02/braves-announce-creation-of-bravesvision.html The commissioner is really going to have an immense challenge getting those Top 10-12 markets (including AT and Texas) into the ESPN+ bundle for maximum negotiating leverage (over the next 2-3 years). Going by the quotes in the story, the White Sox $70 million RSN fee was likely halved to $35 million, but $20-22 million for 2025 with all the initial chaos with CHSN feels much more accurate from a revenue standpoint.

White Sox 18th on 26 and under power ratings
What the f*** is the point of coming to the thread and making a comment when you're going to be such an asshole? Excuse me if I enjoy baseball. Maybe if you actually read articles about baseball you might learn something. I actually enjoyed taking time off for six weeks and used it more productively. This is part of the reason why our country is so fucked up now. It's certainly part of the reason why there's so much vitriol online. There's no accountability or conscience...all the times I've attended Sox games in person, it was a great experience and a memorable time sharing that same passion with fellow Sox fans (except for a few memorable drunks). People have forgotten what civility is...how to treat others as they would like to be treated. I just attributed it to the differences between people from Chicago and the way Iowans (used to) treat each other in real life. We used to be tolerant of others while realizing what made us different or unique from one another was a strength and not a weakness to be exploited. You realize you're acting like this towards someone who is 56 years old and retired, right? I think Cali and RayRay have it right. He doesn't waste time ignoring people or going out of the way to comment on something if he doesn't care for a particular poster or feels they have nothing constructive to add to the conversation. Sure, you won some likes on the internet, laughed or ganged up on someone, got to be an internet bully for a day. Hopefully that brought great joy to your life and earned you some points somewhere, with someone. At one point (twenty years ago) I thought this board was such a positive thing because it brought Sox fans together, but a number of the interactions in the last 3-5 years are just about tearing people down because there's nothing positive to discuss about their favorite baseball team. I could celebrate from Colombia with fellow Sox fans while the team was winning the World Series a continent away. It was sort of like a family with the same old predictable characters you'd meet at a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. Having no brothers and sisters and now no parents...it was also a home at times. I'm not so sure anymore. Does something in your life affirm you or does it tear you down?

Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
ESPN Final offseason grade = C "I love the Murakami gamble. Look, he's going to strike out a ton and maybe he flops because of that, but there's also 40-homer potential, so it's a worthwhile risk for a team that needs power, especially at just two years and $34 million. Acuna -- yes, general manager Chris Getz finally realized he's not a switch-hitter -- was hyped as a prospect but looks like a bench player. Kay, a former Blue Jays pitcher, is a sleeper signing after a good season in Japan. But what doesn't make sense is that the White Sox failed to supplement the Murakami signing with more help on offense other than Hays. If Murakami does turn into a star, then he's a free agent in two years. Have you added enough to win in that short window? The payroll remains under $100 million. You'd think an 89-year-old owner might have a little more urgency to win, but alas, go ahead and yell at the Dodgers."

2026 World Baseball Classic
Samurai Japan will travel to Nagoya (home of Ichiro Suzuki) next for a two-game exhibition series against the Chunichi Dragons on Friday February 27 and Saturday the 28th before heading to Osaka for their final tune-ups against the Orix Buffaloes (Kyocera Dome) and Hanshin Tigers on Monday March 2 and Tuesday the 3rd. With Yusei Kikuchi and Tomoyuki Sugano already in camp and others (Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Munetaka Murakami, Kazuma Okamoto, Seiya Suzuki) following soon, Japan’s MLB contingent is expected to begin appearing in exhibition games as early as this week. However, San Diego Padres lefty Yuki Matsui sustained a left groin injury this week, making his WBC status questionable. The team will then open Pool C play at the Tokyo Dome in the World Baseball Classic, facing Chinese Taipei, Australia, Korea, and Czechia from March 6-10. Should they advance, they will travel to Miami for the quarterfinal round.

You'd definitely have the 100th anniversary of the 1933 All Star Game played there...might still get it in Chicago with a new stadium.

"This is the first of four games in five days for Munetaka Murakami: He plays first on Sunday, will DH on Monday, get a day off Tuesday and play Wednesday and Thursday." Fegan/soxmachine.com So facing Dodgers at "home" on Thurs, and then leaving for Japan... Gets the desired five games under his belt.

You'd almost have to have home plate at the SE point of that park...facing to the north and west. Roughly five acres. Parking wouldn't be great, but you do have Crowne Center and Union Station. Most importantly, not very far from the Plaza for shopping and restaurants.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
JR has repeatedly said the Sox couldn't draw three million. In the new park with diminished seating capacity, that would mean 37000 per game. Even with SRO that's impossible to do at GRF. Certainly not with Monday through Thursday games in April May and September.

"Passable" isn't going to be good enough for the Ishbias...just look at his estate/mansion. it's missing that sense of "awe/wonder" and history as well. Same reason the second Arlington stadium (meant to evoke "The Natural" with its decking in the OF) and Atlanta downtown Olympic stadium didn't work.

Last time I was following this story it was North Kansas City across the river bridge into that neighborhood area. If they don't move with the Chiefs to KCK, it's going to be miles and miles of parking lots with nothing resembling an entertainment district like Power&Light.
