White Sox 18th on 26 and under power ratings
https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/mlb-26-and-under-power-rankings-taking-stock-of-the-young-talent-in-each-mlb-organization-starting-with-the-phillies-at-no-30-163043087.html For reference, White Sox were all the way down at 28th last year. Jumped from 1/10 for big league hitters up to 6/10. MLB pitching just 1/10. Now up to 3/10.

Would be better to push Thome down to the third...his family already has generational wealth for all intents and purposes.

They need an NCAA CF/SS. White Sox 18th on 26 and under power ratings
20. Chicago White Sox ($153 million) Last year: 2nd, $313 million Should also be noted the White Sox suffered one of the biggest slides from 2 to 20 under McDaniel. Loss of $160 million in FV...what with all the 2025 graduations. That $313 would have put them behind Milwaukee Cleveland Pittsburgh ($314 million) and ahead of the Dodgers coming into THIS season. Ofc part of that is Braden Montgomery at #189 vs. 36 or so.

White Sox 18th on 26 and under power ratings
If you go by 6th-8th high rankings for MiLB and 20 (low, McDaniel and ESPN), it averages out to around 13.5. Ofc, not counting Cholowsky and the second rounder...and still unknown whether Hagen Schultz Oppor McDougal all get to season's end with under 50 big league innings pitched. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/47684217/2026-mlb-prospect-rankings-farm-systems-kiley-mcdaniel-brewers-guardians-pirates-dodgers-mets mlb pipeline "The youth movement is underway in the South Side. Former Top 100 prospect Colson Montgomery was recently named as one of MLB's Top 100 players by MLB Network, and there’s more where that came from. Sharing the same name, Braden Montgomery (No. 36), shined across three levels in 2025, reaching Double-A. Left-handers Noah Schultz (No. 49) and Hagen Smith (No. 72) are nearing the Majors and could bolster Chicago’s rotation sometime in 2026. In the lower levels, Caleb Bonemer (No. 61) and Billy Carlson (No. 73) are both recent draftees who provide exciting tools from the left side of the infield." will be relevant with Cholowsky "Because of that, the Pirates' figure is boosted by Griffin residing in the top spot in the whole sport. And my point here is that he is the top prospect by a lot -- he basically broke the algorithm I made to help with this process -- so the gap between him and the next few prospects feels correct this time. If you were to simply take Griffin out of the Pirates' system, they'd drop to the middle of these rankings; and since Griffin might break camp with the big league team, that could happen as soon as a few months into the major league season." Another interesting point is the Twins finishing behind the Sox at the yahoo 26 and under list but well ahead at espn (8th vs. 20th)...part of that is Murakami based. https://twinsdaily.com/forums/topic/73111-keith-laws-top-100-mlb-prospects-for-2026/

No he would have to push out both Meidroth and Sosa...probably needs at least 3-4 more months in the minors.

https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/mlb-26-and-under-power-rankings-nos-20-16-can-anthony-volpe-james-wood-and-munetaka-murakami-deliver-on-their-potential-223644980.html Pretty realistic/knowledgeable appraisal. Antonacci with a mention. Bonemer and Braden not yet a factor, along with the 2026 picks. Pitching at mlb level ranked just 3/10. Obvious weakness there. Comparison-wise, one would think that the 2019 White Sox were definitely Top 3-5 in this category...so still a lot of work (and FA spending to go). Tigers and Guardians remain far out in front...especially Detroit. Cubs, btw, at 16th here.

2026 World Baseball Classic
US starting pitching is no joke now... Cuba at 15th out of 20 tells one a lot, as well as the mlb tested depth of teams like Italy and Netherlands. Czech Republic the clear "feel good" story. Japan pitching will be tested without Sasaki and Imai. Plus Matsumoto had that incredible post season workload.

Jose's son, right? Must be with the forkballs. Similar repertoire to the father with the possible exception of maxxed out FB velo. But the Contreras fb was actually pretty straight. https://prospectporch.com/players/joseph-contreras.html Interesting that the slider grades out as his best pitch and control the lowest grade, albeit unsurprising for prep pitcher at 6'4" and undergoing dramatic body changes. Typical reliever risk warning, "there's an early day one ceiling here if Contreras can continue to show improvements throughout the spring." "It may not be as polished a profile as some of the top prep right handers in this class, but Contreras's stuff is rivaled by very few." Landon Thome, Contreras...any other Sox connections?

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development

So should play Sun/Wed home games. Monday and Tuesday at Colorado and Seattle. Peoria is much closer than going across the metroplex. Then LAD on Thursday is up in the air with 26th/27th (Fegan) listed as departure dates for WBC/Japan. Unsure if Sasaki might be pitching for LA at this point.
