  1. But he hasn't stuck at the position long-term... It has still only been 200+ PA's or whatever your screening qualification that had him at 14/32.
  2. PEORIA, AZ — San Diego Padres All-Star third baseman Manny Machado, having watched the bitter rival Los Angeles Dodgers dominate the NL West – and enter the season with a payroll exceeding $400 million – not only declined to criticize the Dodgers’ expenditures, but praised the organization. “I (expletive) love it," Machado said Sunday morning. “I think every team should be doing it. They’re figured out a way to do it, and the (stuff) is (expletive) great for the game honestly. I think every team has the ability to do it. So, I hope all 30 teams could learn from it." USAtoday.com
  3. All the big FA movement will happen next November before the lockout. Big 5-6 teams will predictably load up on more talent knowing conditions will likely get more challenging for them after the new CBA. Don't think most trades will occur until the value of pre arb versus veteran guys is more firmly defined.
  4. Quotes from last spring or it didn't happen... There was certainly nobody predicting above average MLB defense out of Colson. The majority of talk was 3B 1B corner outfield and DH.
  5. Getz actually has a net positive "favorability" rating in Chicago prisons. That explains it. Prisoners love second and third chances/redemption stories.
  6. You're just jealous that guys like Laureano OHearn Sheets etc. offered up positive offensive contributions last year. Or Pivetta's bargain basement contract, because the GM actually waited on the market instead of targeting guys in November. This year Getz had no choice but to wait as he had to dump Robert for the reknowned switch hitting Acuna first to free up salary. Also, since we're speaking of Murakami at third base, I seem to remember almost NOBODY predicting Colson Montgomery would be able to play above average MLB SS. Btw, not even with Chris Getz as GM and a $300 million budget could anyone in that division compete with LA....
  7. Btw Murakami has played 763 games in his career at third already. By his mid 20s. Which is a LOT more than guys such as Viciedo had at the position...before the White Sox threw them out there at 3B. Murakami clearly wasn't going to play 1B DH with the Dodgers...not with Freeman Ohtani and eventually Betts getting more DH at bats.
  8. Wow...impressive attempt. Are you still complaining about the Padres spending too much money last year? Or sore the Elko attendance boost never materialized?
  9. Muncy is ancient...and injury-prone. But also late G7 World Series hero with his homer. If the Dodgers really wanted Mune in two years, they could outbid everyone quite easily. And they might still end up trading for him if Muncy gets hurt this year or next.
  10. The final roster spot is expected to come down to Shota Imanaga (Chicago Cubs), Kodai Senga (New York Mets), or Masataka Yoshida (Boston Red Sox), with Yoshida viewed as the favorite pending MLB approval from the Boston Red Sox. If permission is not granted, Japan may instead opt for an NPB outfielder such as Yuki Okabayashi (Chunichi Dragons), Chusei Mannami (Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters), or Yuki Yanagita (Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks). OF – Seiya Suzuki (Chicago Cubs) OF – Shota Morishita (Hanshin Tigers) OF – Ukyo Shuto (Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks) OF – Kensuke Kondoh (Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks) UTL – Taisei Makihara (Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks) Notable omissions from the squad include young flamethrower Shunpeita Yamashita (Orix Buffaloes), closer Shinya Matsuyama (Chunichi Dragons), and rising shortstop Yuta Izuguchi (Yomiuri Giants). Pitchers Roki Sasaki (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Tatsuya Imai (Houston Astros) were previously ruled out in order for them to prioritize their respective teams and get ready for the MLB season. https://worldbaseball.com/samurai-japan-reveals-2026-world-baseball-classic-roster/

  12. Gu just seventh place in Big Air....after two runs lol. Finished second with third run. One of her top competitors who beat her for gold last week had withdrawn as well. Last chance for gold is slopestyle on Sat. https://www.olympics.com/en/milano-cortina-2026/results/frs/je/w/ba----------------/fnl-/--------/result Gold Gold Silver was always going to be tough to live up to away from Beijing.
  13. Better defender and speed but Suwinski more a fourth or fifth outfielder on a contender.
  14. Eventually that thread will die and this will STICK to/with Mune... Helping to get his sponsorship deal set up.

Not sure of this is NBA or Daytona...but relates more to Jordan. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/articles/mj-ruined-entire-legacy-23-103300703.html https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/rumor-claims-stephen-smith-moving-170025836.html&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwi0sPqzoN6SAxU8IEQIHT2BKmAQ0PADegQIFxAH&usg=AOvVaw0g0XFlYmYZNl5JMOfbJ49d Would have to say ESPN's Stephen Smith running for president in 2028 is definitely more bizarre. Although he actually MIGHT be more well prepared on foreign policy/Taiwan than AOC...

  23. Astrill VPN works well outside the US...not sure about inside it. But then you're paying almost the same cost as the mlb streaming rights themselves if you don't use the VPN for any other reason.
  24. 6) Munetaka Murakami, 1B, White Sox There may not be a more intriguing hitter to watch this spring than Murakami. The 25-year-old Japanese slugger arrives stateside with a reputation for prodigious power and the ability to hit the ball exceptionally hard. Yet a propensity for swing-and-miss and high strikeout totals made his free-agent case rather polarizing. How well will Murakami handle Major League pitching? We’ll get our first glimpse shortly, and you’ll want to catch him before he leaves camp to play for Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic. 25 seconds of Murakami swinging. He cleared the fence three times in his first two sessions. pic.twitter.com/sJP3grN6Ki — Scott Merkin (@scottmerkin) February 10, 2026 https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/munetaka-murakami-mlb-star-potential-analysis
