  1. Technically, we're only one game behind the Cardinals if we were in the same division, but it feels like we are 5-10 GB at the current moment.
  2. Robert just saved MORE runs there....that's a play maybe 15-20% of big leaguers make, and definitely not nearly as smoothly as he just managed to accomplish it.
  3. Even Yermin, for god's sake...won't go as far as to count SEBY Zavala, but Collins represents yet one of many notable institutional failures, from draft/evaluation to development/progression. Carson Fulmer, Example B. At this rate, Cishek doesn't even make it through the year. Put a fork in him. They might give it a go of hiding him on the IL just to see if he can rediscover his magic touch, but it's unlikely to reverse itself in the middle of this short season.
  4. Hahn has been RIGHT ONCE in the last 2-3 years. On James McCann. And then he signed Grandal and undid 50-75 of the good that McCann represented, such as catching all of Giolito's starts, for one example.
  5. Absolutely zero chance right now at any of the Top 6...that team definitely would be Cleveland, now without Clevinger and Plesac. Logically the Indians would be the team to fall, but it's not going to be to the White Sox this year. And "banishing" those two guys to their training camp will probably end up reuniting the big league roster together in a way that actually works out better than anyone expected.
  6. We're going to be lucky to finish 3rd ahead of the Tigers...it will be a real battle if DET brings up their top 3-4 prospects. And don't trade Trumbull and Boyd but attempt to compete on the fly.
  7. Which teams desperately need McCann and/or Colome right now?
  8. That's where the D-Backs are most assuredly NOT hitting him. At the rate things are currently going, Yonder Alonso's going to outhomer Mazara this season...
  9. Wouldn't have been a homer in a phone booth... Yet again. Making every White Sox history looking like "Breaking Bad" version of Adam Engel when he's OPSing in the mid 500's and barely clinging on to MLB life and with a swing plane that looks awkwardly constructed with baling wire and duct tape.
  10. Even then, Mazara was good for a homer every 8 games or so, at least. And Grandal suddenly has had one of the greatest power outages of any hitter to sign for $73 million, the biggest contract in team history. Meanwhile, we're giving our best catcher away and getting nothing in return unless we decide to convert this season into another "development" one of Let's Make a Deal with our big league roster again. Want a closer in Alex Colome, come on down!
  11. And smokeless tobacco would certainly be banned on the field and in the clubhouse, an important step forward...
  12. Whereas Nelson Cruz, or CJ Cron...or pretty much everyone the Twins have signed plays like they've had magic pixie dust sprinkled on their cleats.
  13. What's most embarrassing is that they were staying in the comfort of their own homes....whereas the Cardinals had to fight through endless hours on Interstate 57 or 55 or whatever the one that connects StL and SW Chicago. They just want it more, that much is obvious. Cardinals always a well-managed organization, other than a dubious choice in favorite son Mike Matheny. Have come out and been the team that wasn't overmatched after 2 1/2 weeks off, timing-wise. "This has gone about as well as you could hope." Cards' announcers.
  14. BUT MANAGING DOESN'T matter. At best, only 2-3 games out of a 162 game season. If you've watched the White Sox over the last decade plus, you'd feel like that number was MUCH MUCH closer to 12-15 games person season, conservatively.
  15. Maddon WOULD NEVER in a million years make those simple mistakes in the heart of his managing with the Rays and Cubs, before losing a bit of focus the last couple of seasons.
  16. Plus you've won Poster of the Day on roughly 15 occasions, further bonafides if ever there was a credible case to be made. Well, I've only been arguing for about....well, let's see, 15 years that Rick Hahn was in over his head. It will be nice if the loyalists out there finally realize the emperor has no clothes, but he sure talks a great game.
  17. I would honestly rather have RON as the manager at this point. And at least WBWSF is passionate about White Sox baseball, and cares enough to repetitively state the same claims on a consistent, albeit delusional basis. What I'd love to see are those responses he did receive from JR before he started having his CV/resume/"I'm the NIU Huskies version of Theo Epstein, it would be idiotic to miss this opportunity to bring me on board with baseball ops" letters rejected.
  18. No way that Mazara's going to dial it up for 97-99...just not going to happen. At best, he shanks one to the opposite side that dunks in, off the hands.
  19. Blown away. I'll have whatever he's having...who just argued we're the best team in baseball, in an alternative universe/reality.
  20. Didn't he also have some domestic violence or pretty serious off the field issues along the way?
  21. Flavum almost never gets angry and even he's cursing. What's the world coming to? Elrockin' giving up? Reyes has gone from one of the best pitching prospects in baseball to the Cardinals' version of Carlos Rodon.
  22. Pitching depth or minor league coaching depth? Because the second has always been pointed out as one of our "niche" advantages...supposedly.
  23. What are the odds of getting swept the first two doubleheaders of a big league season in the span of less than a month to open a year? Probably something like 10-15%, at most? Damage has been done, but it's still theoretically a game if the offense hasn't given up just yet.
  24. Well, at least if those two baserunners on right now score, this game is over and can be put out of its misery...meanwhile, the Cubs are waiting just to stomp all over a "down on themselves" White Sox team that can't get out of its own way playing at home for some odd reason. 2-8?
  25. And we wouldn't have had to acquire Cishek had Herrera not been a total disaster...at this point, Burdi needs to start getting more of these opportunities, or Heuer, or SOMEONE/ANYONE.
