  1. If he claims after five years of rebuilding not to be able to compete with the lowest payroll tram in baseball that already shed Lindor, Carrasco, Kluber, Santana, etc. Not even JR is that out of it.
  2. Unrealistic. It would require our 2020 draft class, plus.
  3. Engel being able to hit well enough after so much time off...and not get reinjured when his game relies so much on speed...we can hardly rely upon such a solution for the remainder of the season. It’s one thing when he had no pressure to produce as a complementary contributor. This won’t be the case already missing 2 of our core hitters.
  4. In his return, Rodón has benefited from his work with new pitching coach Ethan Katz. He has started using a core velocity belt in drills, a tool that goes around his hips and wraps around his legs. He does about four or five exercises with the belt and a series of bands, helping with his hips and connecting his lower half to his upper half. The result is a more fluid motion and less stress on his arm, helping him find the late-inning velocity that the 6-foot-3 Rodón had before all the injuries — though maybe not as impressive as what he is doing now. In his last outing Thursday against Detroit, his 96th and final pitch of the day was a 97.7-mph fastball that Miguel Cabrera bounced to second. He can rear back and throw once again. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/healthy-again-rod-n-savoring-194304795.html
  5. Then we will injure Gallo trying to cover up for Vaughn and an ailing Eaton. Who are we going to trade that would be attractive enough for Texas to throw in the towel when they just opened a new stadium?
  6. His father was super fast...but not really an everyday player.
  7. That’s just not a good idea...
  8. And your solution? It’s easy to criticize, but how about a constructive solution other than Leury Garcia in CF? Why not Japan or Korea? Why not think outside the box for once? Why can’t we afford to even have a handful of scouts cover the Pacific Rim?
  9. Obviously it’s going to be Hamilton as long as he maintains a 575-625 ops...
  10. Sure, you can follow the Sox minor leagues to your heart’s content...perform some kind of rituals like in Eyes Wide Shut, even.
  11. Gee, such a challenge to negotiate the site to find it. Never mind, the hip insiders can keep it to themselves and worship Burger as the next Yerminator, lol.
  12. When compared with National Football League (NFL) players, professional basketball players demonstrated a higher proportion of hamstring strain and adductor strain and a lower proportion of hip flexor strains.8 In NFL players, 63% of all strains were hip flexor, as compared with 9.3% in our study. Professional basketball players had a slightly higher incidence of hamstring and adductor strains relative to NFL players. Awareness of the most common injuries to affect professional basketball players can help with prevention of these injuries. Hamstring and adductor strains can be prevented by stretching and strengthening programs directed at these muscle groups. A study by Tyler et al16 demonstrated a significant decrease in adductor strains in professional hockey players after completion of a preseason exercise program. These players were considered as high risk because of decreased strength and abduction range of motion. Similar findings have been shown in soccer and Australian rules football.17,18 Identifying players who may be at risk for sustaining adductor or hamstring strains, such as players with previous strain or decreased range of motion, may be beneficial to prevention of injury. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4555488/ Almost twice as many hip flexors in the first month of NFL and NBA seasons, fwiw. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1629837-breaking-down-how-david-lee-is-playing-through-torn-hip-flexor

  14. More CFers... Keon Broxton (Twins' property, cross that one off the list) Ender Inciarte (Braves) Delino DeShields, Jr. (Rangers) Orlando Mercado (Indians, cross of the list) Albert Almora, Jr. (Mets)
  15. In all fairness, it was RHP Erik Johnson and Tatis, Jr. All to save a boatload of money (in JR's estimation at the time) that doesn't quite add up into the hundreds of millions of dollars today.
  16. Isn't Sam Abbott the kid originally drafted as a water polo player? And can James Beard play CF in Chicago this year, or do we need to trade for Terrance Gore from ATL?
  17. Wow, that Birmingham roster is just dying to add the likes of Jerry Owens, Josh Fields, Luis Terrero, Danny Richar and Ehren Wasserman for depth. Micah Johnson would practically be a start compared to that list of infielders. Yikes.
  18. Now setbacks are popping up everywhere....inexplicable. Reynaldo Lopez out for 2-3 weeks due to corneal corrections. Odds that a White Sox starting pitcher gets injured just increased 75% based on the way this entire snake bitten season is going so far.
  19. Basically to prove both the Cubs and White Sox front offices wrong... and Maddon/TLR to a lesser extent. Three HoFers in Epstein, TLR and probably Joe when all is said and done because of 2016 and overachieving/modernization of game with Rays.
  20. Love all the doom and gloom articles about a team with a $245 million payroll being challenged by the loss of a single starter when they still have Kershaw/Bauer/Buehler/Urias/Gonsolin.
  21. Why would Renteria even want to return under those circumstances? Screw you, would be his response...although you did get the sense he genuinely cared for his players, fellow coaches, etc.
  22. Johnson County Kansas is the utter complete antithesis of liberal....he lives in Shawnee Mission. It's basically like Orange County on steroids.
  23. Does it really matter to choose? Somehow, we have to clear 1 and likely 2 of those teams to make the post-season, depending on how bad the situation in DET gets over the course of the season...and how determined they are to keep their top prospects down on the farm.
  24. Victor Robles should be the target if we're really all in this year...and want to competently cover CF. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/washington-nationals/victor-robles-21289/ If not, we look at guys like Garrett Hampson (Rockies), Jackie Bradley, Jr. (Brewers will be in it all year, and suggest Avi Garcia instead) and Cedric Mullins of the Orioles, who would likely be just as overvalued as Yermin Mercedes is to the White Sox at the current moment. Of course, the question is what we have to offer the Nationals that would make them bite...and if we're willing to give it up. But Robles would be under team control through 2024, just like Tim Anderson. As someone suggested, our entire 2020 draft class for him, pretty much. Bryan Reynolds of the Pirates is another one, he's playing CF tonight for Pittsbugh, but not a natural CFer compared to his comfort level on the corners IMO. B-Rey is already 26 and would still fit the Sox window, except for wiping out much of our remaining prospect capital to pull it off. He's not (yet) expensive, so the Pirates aren't desperate to unload his deal.
  25. Because we're the White Sox and never get to keep our own homegrown players, with Konerko (and he was LAD/Cincy) the only exception in the last 20-30 years.
