  1. 20 fWAR/bWAR as your standard is NOT an average major leaguer BY any stretch. You can't have it both ways. Montgomery being a 1-1.5 fWaR player instead of a 3-5 fWAR player doesn't move the needle at all for an organization bereft of high ceiling position prospects and unwilling to pay for them in FA for over a decade (27-30 year old stars rather than 31-34 year old Tier B/C guys). Nobody will consider that a success by reframing him as a lower first round pick.
  2. Much more competitive this year...there's no doubt about that. Last year felt like every other game was a blowout.
  3. Major league SB lead...would have to look at Elly de la Cruz box.
  4. And the only way it gets there is to stop giving your product away for free. Should have waited until they had a really compelling product to offer the viewing audience...at least 2026. Then fans might be (eventually) willing to pay something for it again.
  5. 5 iron golfed out. Should have gone to Vasil. Thanks for all the sound bullpen options Getzie. Not good when your staff is basically anchored by two Rule 5 guys.
  6. Needs to be sustained for at least 7-10 consecutive games with Zavala...then maybe some legit hope
  7. If you had the worst bullpen in the game...you'd have no choice but to push for as much depth in games as possible from starters. What other option is there? It's why they added the opener twist. To eliminate the backend relievers as much as possible.
  8. Wilson playing with fire. Saved by pickoff at second. Vasil next man in.
  9. GRate no second or third deck overhangs in the outfield. Can walk around the entire stadium on the concourse. Can view the field quite easily from the concourses. That's just not good enough when you're constantly compared to the retro ballparks that came after...especially Camden Yards.
  10. He's not to blame for being a AAAA journeyman bandaid of a swingman. Getz is. Wilson is what he is.
  11. Scouts will at least note that near home run on the hanging curve. He's getting closer to locked in...compared to 2-3 weeks ago.
  12. A brilliant idea for a different, non-split market...with the Cubs basically giving their product away to the entire Midwest with an iconic broadcaster.
  13. Hot or on fire starts in April...when exactly was that? Easy to look up. The overall results are always inevitably the same. Statistics always average out. The last two years have been complete disasters. Sub 500. 2022-23 his numbers were good. Rookie year 2021 .725 start but defense in LF rapidly disentegrating...that obviously was Hahn's doing.
  14. 50/50 in mid August...although White Sox lack of brand name can hurt, WS title was just three years prior.
  15. Spin it all you want...perception is already baked into the pie at this point. Savior/cornerstone of the franchise was pretty close to an accurate assessment two years ago. Similarly, AJ Preller would look at where Ethan Salas is as of today offensively and express major but measured disappointment...and also patience for a much younger prospect.
  16. Probably referring to consecutive overall disappointing seasons from an fWAR/bWAR perspective. By old school Greg775 traditional metrics...so so okay fine with RBIs and still a bit short with homers for a corner INF spot. But then when you consider base running and fielding and OBP...no bueno.
  17. Not from where he was ranked as a prospect just two or even one year ago...basically, the best Sox infield prospect since Beckham and Moncada. Maybe not can't miss...but #14-20 at one point, at his very peak.
  18. Robert really committed to chasing that SB title is a new pursuit.
  19. There are no quick fixes for that bullpen no matter how often they shuttle the deck chairs. Freeman, Leasure, Vasil, S.Wilson Eisert Gilbert Booser Shuster
  20. Jac Caglianone. After a 1-for-3 night, MLB's No. 19 prospect exited the contest with a .307/.392/.515 slash line in 26 games at Double-A this season. His fifth home run marked his 11th extra-base hit on the year, as the 6-foot-5 lefty has blown his numbers from his brief pro debut last year out of the water, boasting a 70-grade power tool, tied for the best among ranked prospects. Cags homer blasted on top of a building beyond RF... https://www.mlb.com/news/royals-prospect-jac-caglianone-homers-onto-nearby-building?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/royals-prospect-jac-caglianone-launches-home-run-out-of-ballpark-onto-roof-of-adjacent-building-162836018.html On Thursday, the Kansas City Star's Sam McDowell advised the Royals to stick to their timeline and give Caglianone all the development he needs (both offensively and defensively), even if Kansas City's lineup continues to flounder early in the regular season...
  21. Who's next, Justin Anderson? Last year it was Carson Fulmer. Jake Eder back down. Anderson/Moncada. Lots of bad...Ryan Newman one of their other infielders. He just can't hit. TT the right-hander has spent his twenties bouncing between the Braves, Angels, Guardians, and White Sox organizations with well below average results at every stop along the way. His most recent stint in the majors came last season with the White Sox, for whom Toussaint posted an eye-popping 7.43 ERA while walking 15.4% of his opponents. His stint in Chicago last year wound up lasting only 23 innings, but now he’s poised to return to the majors for a second stint in Anaheim. mlbtraderumors.com LAA 4-15 over last 19. Second worst RS/RA in majors.
  22. No just speculating. Feels inevitable though. Dalbec SS extraordinaire didn't last long.
