  1. 12 hours ago, WestEddy said: I think Kim Ng did a much better job building that organization than Hahn did with his. The direct comparison was Hahn to Ng. And now you're on to Bemdix having the only say on the Marlins' farm while she was GM. At any rate, Chris Getz has/had nothing to do with that. Not getting to name his own manager derailed much of what Hahn was attempting to accomplish...just like not being allowed to sign Machado or Harper and being forced into Tier B free agents after the young core players were all locked up on the position player side.
  2. Not after he became the union rep and then JR tried to screw him over a pittance...he's most likely to end up somewhere closer to his California roots. Maybe the Orioles, though. He pitcher well enough this season to get at least $15-18 million if not $20 on the open market.
  3. Pence might be #100 on the GAME list. Giolito had all the bridges back burned by JR.
  4. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/breaking-news/article/mlb-announces-bobby-witt-jr-fernando-tatis-jr-as-platinum-glove-winners-at-nearly-11-pm-et-on-a-friday-night-044330025.html "MLB's Platinum Glove is an award intended to honor the top overall defender in each league. In theory, it could be treated as a prestigious accomplishment and determined by a thoughtful process. In practice, MLB decides it via an easily swayed fan vote and news-dumps it late on a Friday night, unlike pretty much every other individual sports award out there. Because that's how much you should apparently care about this trophy."
  5. The Marlins never came close to having a #1 overall farm system under her, though. TLR basically broke the White Sox. If Hahn had been allowed to hire Hinch and not over ruled, things could have at least turned out far better than they did.
  6. Notice the White Sox not even mentioned ONCE as a possibility by six different writers in connection to the top of the class free agents...and the likes of Quintana Bassitt and Keller at the bottom of the Top 40-50 aren't even realistic, either.
  7. Angels are going trade Adell and/or Ward and have plenty of money to spend still. When most of the Top 15 names are off the board or accounted for already, someone in that second tier of teams/payrolls will blink.
  8. 18. Trent Grisham, CF: four years, $66MM Tim: Angels / Anthony: Rays / Darragh: Angels / Steve: Astros In the course of a single season, Trent Grisham shifted his appeal from his glove to his bat. That transformation is going to make him a lot more money than anyone could’ve anticipated in spring training. mlbtraderumors.com Very similar to Benintendi long-term deal in terms of AAV.
  9. Now is the year for Grisham to lock in long-term for 3+ years....hasn't had an offensive year like this in ages and he's at the ideal stage in his career to max out. Imanaga likely to renegotiate for another 2-3 year deal. Especially with Steele out until mid season. Plus they can leverage him and Suzuki to add another NPB player such as Imai.
  10. That's over 2 million fans and under 800,000...taxes and subsidies. Neither are likely to impact them unless they're still not competitive three years from now and have to again rebuild after a strike with no new stadium in sight. That would be worst case bleak.

  12. As long as he grades out as at least an average big league defender somewhere... We've already had a number of debates on Baldwin Vargas Colson Sosa Mead and Meidroth. Carlson seems to be the only unquestioned glove talent. For a strikeout deficient starting rotation...pretty critical.
  13. That would have been an interesting overturn the pitch prior when he deliberately stuck his hand out late. On the road in the most hosting environment possible. Like calling IKF safe on that throw from Rojas to end the series.
  14. Sounds exactly like Luis Arraez and Tim Anderson in that second paragraph...although TA struck out quite a bit near the end. Speed-based tool players too.
  15. https://allchgo.com/royal-blood-why-heavy-kansas-city-presence-is-to-be-expected-and-good-for-white-sox-under-chris-getz/ I think it was also Grifol and then at least four or five initial spring invite players with KC ties like N.Lopez Maldonado Michael A. Taylor (later) Moustakas and Brett Phillips. A reliever or two in there as well. Mitch Keller, for example...who blossomed eventually for the wrong Chicago team.
  16. Fine. Josh Nelson isn't even close to being among top national baseball "experts" to be making such predictions...compared to Fegan or even Margalus at his own site.
  17. A reliever...maybe. Probably well below $5 million. More scrap heap/dump sterling diving. But not that type of money for veteran position players in their 30s.
  18. He's not going to Chicago unless Robert is traded in the off season. Even then...last choice. Rockies already have Doyle.
  19. Chiefs absolutely destroyed that same defense in KC when they only had three first downs all game without Bowers.
  20. Look at Mullins' numbers after he was traded. .182 with a 62ops+. Much better with Balt...but that ending was atrocious. One of numerous reasons for Mets' collapse down the stretch.
  21. Still, the Royals made the playoffs much more recently and have a far better record than the Sox the last two seasons... Big difference between the post WS 2016-2017 KC with Getz/Grifol and the more recent teams led by Witt Jr Perez Pasquantino and lots of pitching.
  22. Kay will likely end up costing more than that. Yaz will go to a contender and Mullins might be cooked. But he would possibly still be an upgrade over Taylor. Ofc his agent might still perceive him as an $8-10 million ball player.
  23. They're not going to make Benintendi a full-time DH. Sosa will give up just as many runs as he prevents once Robert is traded.
