8-14-15 Cubs vs Sox 3:10CDT (Hendricks vs Samardzija)

Balls flying out of the park today. Never thought Eaton would be outhomering Cabrera, but those are clearly our top two hitters now, along with Jose. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) Crowds after this weekend will be low. Nice to see a catcher throw a guy out. Still have the Yankees, or is that in NYC? -

Soto continues to outthrow Flowers. Now....about getting the ball down to third or back to the pitcher's mound. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) I just looked up Chris Bassitt's numbers on the season for the first time. I shouldn't have done that Just try the....well, just like Kip Wells or Josh Fogg, he wouldn't have put up close to those numbers with the White Sox in USCF mind trick. -

44-55 with a 3.98 era mostly in the weaker NL doesn't exactly scream $100 million pitcher. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) he cost himself a lot of money with the way he's pitched this year. Guy came in with a huge chip on his shoulder and has pitched like s***. Goddamn peavy reincarnated At least we got Garcia and Montas back from Peavy. If Samardzija finishes with a 5+ ERA, he might actually be better off accepting the QO for just one year. -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) faith day? Who is this marketing crew? Officially out of ideas. Zombie Night/Zombie Bobblehead giveaway is going to be a huge success...since we'll be watching that game Sept 4th, the marketing people might actually notice but probably difficult finding sponsorship deals these days. Clayton Richard continuing to warm up at the beginning of the inning. -

Well, you could see that coming leaving the bases loaded last inning. The Sox are reaching the point that getting stuck with Samardzija next year is actually becoming a real possibility. Six homers for the Cubs in their last seven innings. Fowler with four xb hits alone in his last 4. -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) neither one of them can hit a breaking ball to save their lives. Avi has an absurd o-zone % of 46.4, Soler is only at 30% don't know what his problem is on them. Avi is obviously swinging at junk a lot. Seems 90% of his big hits this year have been on offspeed pitches. The fastball in on his hands or just under them...those are the balls he hasn't been able to turn on. -

Ouch. Nearly sixty pitches for Hendricks, but that was huge for the Cubs. -

Pretty amazing Carlos is out-doubling Avisail with a significant deficit in at-bats. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) we tried that once and it failed. I am sure they are reluctant to do it again. I think Laroche who is a gold glove fielder might be better playing the field. Maybe?! I simply meant LaRoche in his current role...that seems to be the big excuse for his lack of production this year. Are they 100% committed to making Abreu a full-time DH next year? Will believe it when it happens. -

QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) I am not going to try to convince everyone that Avi will be a good ball player. When he reaches his potential all his haters will act like they always knew he had potential I am sure. Nobody would argue about that potential. On the other side of that is 1000 at-bats of experience and his lack of noticeable improvement on defense...perhaps a couple of spectacular plays at the fence have overshadowed that (along with a number of assists). -

Next time we get a DH, we might want to find a hitter actually accustomed to and comfortable sitting on the bench or simply junk it for the rotating/resting 4-5 guys idea... -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) Nothing like a 30 pitch first inning On a day where it feels close to 100, to boot. Not a sellout right now, but fairly close. -

Playing way too shallow there for Fowler...oh, well. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) Editorial in the Tribune today wherein the writer said she was envious of New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina because the horrific damage, loss of life and general disruption gave room to bust up public unions and city hall. Never mind that 10 years later, much of the city is still only half-rebuilt and many residents have been permanently dislocated. This line is probably the worst part, though: If the author had ever read Zeitoun by Dave Eggers, not sure she'd take such a cavalier attitude evidenced by making such a ridiculous comparison.

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?

QUOTE (Brian26 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 07:15 AM) I said the same thing on WSI. As polarizing as Hawk's statement is, the "writer" loses all credibility by trying to compare the teams position-by-position and makes several incorrect calls (Royals better at 1B and SS). Going position by position, the teams are nearly equal I not with a slight advantage to the Sox. If that were actually the case, and most put Ned Yost in the bottom quartile or at least bottom half of MLB managers...then how do you explain a difference of 28 games back in the standings (White Sox -16, Royals +40) since roughly the 100 game mark last year? Besides the White Sox and Royals head to head record, that is? -
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:47 AM) Some "journalist" on Twitter, with 123 followers, a few days ago compared the Cubs attendance to the Sox game, since they were playing at the same time. It was so stupid since one team is in a race and the other isn't and was obvious troll bait. I had never even heard of the guy. As much as I don't care about the Cubs, stuff like that is why I hope they fail. Guess he writes for ChicagoNow. Some Cubs fans just can't enjoy their run, they have to troll other fans. John Jackson @JJacksonSPT Aug 12 #Cubs attendance 36,438. Wonder about #WhiteSox game at the Cell? That was better than Rongey trying to troll Lester's inability to hold runners when the Cubs are in the midst of an insane run.

http://news.yahoo.com/democrats-talking-ha...-232549307.html Gore and Biden both in this thing would make it interesting at least. If for no other reason than the environment immediately being put back at the forefront. With the GOP, the main issue under consideration is Keystone, and that's about where it ends. Yahoo comments are always fun PLEASE run!! Nothing would be more enjoyable than to watch this hypocrite run. He made millions by selling his #$%$ TV station to Al Jazeera. He even forced the deal to be completed quickly to avoid the increased taxes that were going to kick in. How Republican of him. lol! Wasn't the ocean supposed to have wiped out much of the east coast by now? Maybe he will ask Tipper to get back with him so he can stand on stage and give her an awkward kiss again. I have not seen something so staged since Michael Jackson kissed Lisa Marie Presley onstage at an awards show. Go ahead and elect this establishment clown.... I guarantee that within 8 years you will be using a shot glass to flush your toilet, and you will be waiting 6 months to hang a picture on the wall after painting because it DOESNT DRY... Al gore will be a billionaire with approval from his illuminati friends by the time his term ends though, so don't feel bad when he is rich enough to have 5 fireplaces in his getaway mansion while peasants like you and I are prohibited from burning firewood to scrape by.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 10:53 PM) Just took a long walk and listened to Trump's interview with Hannity as I walked. Hmmm. Trump gave a lot of specific policy issues. -- Laughed at critics and said it would be easy, 100 percent assured, to get Mexico to pay for the wall. -- Said he'd kill Obamacare immediately. Can the next president do that? -- Repeated the bulls*** about China and bringing manufacturers back to the U.S. I still wont vote for Donnie because of the fact he makes his ties there because "it's business" when he could be a trailblazer and do the right thing and make the ties here. I wish Hannity would have grilled him on that. He merely let Trump say he'd bring manufacturing back here. -- Said he's the best candidate far and away for the economy. Said he will turn it around. Says without him, if that deficit gets much bigger, it's the end of the world as we know it. Once again, he sounded good. Can't imagine any of the Republican bores knocking him off the top spot. It's gonna probably be Hilly vs. Trump. He said he would probably bring up Bill Clinton's marital affairs during the debates with Hilly. Not 100 percent sure but said it's fair game. Said he'd be better for women than Hilly. Repeated that he paid Hilly's campaign money so she'd take his calls, go to his wedding, etc. http://www.commdiginews.com/business-2/tru...ant-them-46565/ https://www.yahoo.com/autos/what-donald-tru...6516827207.html See the graph/chart here. It's a bogeyman argument, 90-95% of those jobs aren't ever coming back.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 10:38 PM) Hawk is great. Last night's game is a pure example of how some of you take him for granted. The game went 4 extra innings and he and Stoney were absolutely a delight to listen to. I'm serious. They are both baseball people and talk about interesting s***. I'm sick of listening to Steve Physioc of the Royals and his perfect enunciation and constant blabbering about how to buy tickets and ridiculing the opponent and typical broacast bulls*** when you are a shill for the team. Hawk is a homer "put it on the board, yes" but I'll support him forever cause he does rip the White Sox. Any announcer does that for another team and they're gone, fired, gonzo after the season. Hawk WILL and does rip the White Sox and I love when he does that. http://www.stadiumgiveawayexchange.com/sep...bie-bobblehead/ But imagine the possibilities with Hawk and Zombie Night combined. Kansas City Special. BBQ. Everyone dressed up in Walking Dead costumes with full Tom Brady/Gollumesque make-up that would make Hawk seem young and spry. Zombie Bobbleheads. Of course, he'll get his chance since they're playing the White Sox. Gambling pools for first thread mention of Corpseball, the Sox need to wake up/look alive in the first inning...or why do we always play like zombies against the Royals in KC (0-6 this season)?
