  1. Theyre going to stash Segura at 2b or 3b for this year? Trade Ramirez to free up the position? Segura is going to require a huge haul too because of 2013 and his strong start this year....no bargain basement discounting. We cant play Morse in the outfield....so we are already willing to eat most of LaRoche's deal or part....seems crazy this early.
  2. Left-handed hitters tend to be low-ball hitters and right-handed hitters tend to be high-ball hitters. (I could get into why, but that’s another column.) So if lefties are low-ball hitters they tend to drop the bat head — like swinging a golf club — and get under the ball and elevate it. So right fielders have more time to get under an elevated ball. Right-handed hitters tend to stay on top of the ball and that means they hit sinking line drives that hook to the line. Rusty told me that’s why we so often see Alex Gordon charging in and diving on ball hit to his right — and that’s a more difficult catch. Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-colum...l#storylink=cpy This is the fielding bible of former Sox outfielder Rusty Kuntz. White Sox in 2016 Tim Anderson or Alex Gordon LF Eaton CF Melky Cabrera RF (moves to DH in 2017 and Hawkins is the starter) Davidson, Beckham fa or trade 3b Alexei (last season) Micah Johnson 2b Abreu 1b LaRoche dh Nieto trade or FA C Thompson as fourth/fifth OF...PR. Sanchez or Saladino, Bonifacio gone. I would prioritize catcher, then 3b...LF. In that order. Anderson, Johnson and Eaton gives you more speed/versatility/athleticism and Tim can focus more on developing his offensive game. To acquire a catcher this year means dealing Samardzija, probably. Or dealing from SP depth of Johnson, Beck, Montas and Danish....throwing in Saladino, Sanchez or Leury as well as a sweetener. If out of contention, a Samardzija deal with a promise to make a legit FA offer is logical from club standpoint, but no overpay.
  3. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-colum...cXs8HYdW6Aym7wH Other teams only want to fight or have rivalries with good teams...
  4. Nobody's debating the Herrera one...but they cant tell the truth unless they want to end up like Sale in the Victor Martinez and Prince Fielder situations.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 08:04 AM) Samardzija hit Cain after a Royal acted like they won the WS running the bases after a homer. Apparently Eaton did yell something when Ventura walked at him and mentioned Fuddruckers. But Eaton was yelling at himself. It is Yost"s job to back his players, but if they really think they are fairly innocent, they are going to get hurt this year. Kazmir hit Cain with a slider. What about Ventura hitting Abreu? Ned was a catcher. He knows he is reaching. The argument is that Kazmir threw 20 balls and 83 strikes that day...that just because it wasnt a FB doesnt mean he didnt intentionally throw it well inside with a clear purpose. Snd you know for a fact Eaton's actions were interpreted that way how exactly? Lets not forget the indisputable fact that Eaton wasnt known as a perfect angel with his veteran DBacks teammates.
  6. http://m.angels.mlb.com/news/article/12027...s-josh-hamilton With all the money from Keppinger and Bonifacio, we could easily afford him for three seasons at $15 million.
  7. http://mlb.com/r/article?ymd=20150424&...ws&c_id=cws Well, so much for the Sale story being contained...guess Merkin pushed to get the Sox side of things out there proactively. "We need to pitch every game we can," Samardzija said. "We need to act a little more mature and understand that things happen within games and we need to control ourselves better. And we'll go about it that way and we'll learn from it. But we understand as two starters on this team that we're very important to this team and we need to play, and you definitely can't do your team any help when you're watching from afar. "Nobody wants to act that way. In a way, it's embarrassing, and you want to come back and show [that] you want to be known for what you do on the field and the way you play the game. Obviously, look back on it and you're not happy about it, you're not proud about it, but I wear my emotions on my sleeve and I care for my teammates and I want to win every game."
  8. “You go back and look at all this, and we didn’t start any of it,” Yost said. “None of it, with the exception of what happened in Anaheim (Trout incident). And nothing happened. Nobody got beaned. Nobody fought. That was our fault. But everything else, we didn’t start any of it.” In the coming days, players like Ventura, Volquez and Cain could face suspensions from Major League Baseball. Now the club finds itself in a curious place. Manager Ned Yost continues to defend the behavior of his players, despite the ugly optics of these incidents. Yost referenced how Samardzija hit Cain with a pitch on opening day, how the Brett Lawrie of the A’s took out Alcides Escobar with a slide, how Oakland’s Scott Kazmir hit Cain, how the White Sox’s Adam Eaton jawed with Ventura on Thursday. 10. At first I thought this thread was about posters attacking Sox Talk hq/website...due to personal, not to be confused with impersonal, grievances.
  11. http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/USIL0225:1:US Pretty much screwed from 11am onward...
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Franklin Morales and Chris Young are shutting the Sox down? Wow. 2010 called. Young was the NL comeback pitcher last year...doesnt throw hard but not easy to pick up. Scouting. They've lost Collins, Coleman, Crow, etc., and still putting up zeroes.
  13. Liner right at Gordon...perfectly positioned. Avi still sucks and needs to be moved down or benched a game or two for Shuck...who may or may not suck.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 07:44 PM) Avi has the makeup and body but his swing and approach need to be scrapped and start over. And thats nearly impossible to do in-season at the major league level.
  15. Guess it could have been a lot worse if Perez doesnt make a baserunning blunder there... Still, bullpen battle isnt one we are set up to win.
  16. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 07:39 PM) That didn't take long Can never build off any positive momentum...seem to give it right back more often than not. Well, the Royals lead the league in obp while only being 11th in (AL) walks...under control contact instead of the Avi/Viciedo show. Highest BA by 15 points.
  17. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) Hawk's radar does not look good, I repeat, Hawk's radar does not look good. What about Roger Bossard or Tom Skilling's version?
  18. Not good. Quintana just cant seem to put away hitters at 3-2 this season..still down a notch or two velocity-wise. But still much more confident than his recent efforts.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 07:29 PM) I'd like to move Melky down as well. Except hes not walking much and very limited power so far...guess you have to believe the power game will come around eventually. They have to try something....which is Alexei or Micah hitting second and Cabrera fifth...push down Avi to the bottom third.
