The White Sox could have taken a legit five tool outfield prospect in Strosnider and passed. Same with Gasparino. Guess they will have to trade Mune and their infield surplus for ANY pitching and outfielders unless one pencils in Antonacci and Peters in LF and CF for the next five years.

Why would it be a negative if the guy you just drafted could help the big league bullpen this year? They still have lots of expendable slots on the 40 man roster on the pitching front.

The hard part is not knowing if the White Sox can hold first and/or the WC. If they fade in the second half, there would obviously be no pressure to bring him up. Just like nobody could have possibly foreseen 28 teams completely passing on Murakami.

Which Sox team was competing for the playoffs, had pretty much zero bullpen depth with limited strikeout specialists and almost zero remaining trade capital? Also, Royce Ring and Addison Reed were both selected to move very quickly to the majors...Aaron Poreda as well.

They need a feel good story at this point.

How much do you want to bet? During the pre game show one of the analysts said his slider was major league ready...and think it was DeRosa that said he would move the fastest through the minors, or Hamels. Have already seen this happen with Sale/Crochet. Granted, those were first rounders. Gonzalez was their one big trade chip. Not even sure who would be next.

Brewers get Strosnider...seems like the perfect organization that can patiently develop him. Sox get there "insert directly into the playoff chase" reliever with a deadly slider...Getz will position that as their big deadline addition to the bullpen.
