  1. Ichiro good luck charm for Sox
  2. what was the reason for using Castilllo so long? and not letting Munoz have a clean inning?
  3. 1.78 ERA now Ray Ray will be happy/ier
  4. Similar ending for Dodgers...blown pickoff leads to Pages sac fly. Not sure why they let Castilllo start that 9th. Weird.
  5. Montgomery and Acuna yikes!!! Looks like great move here to go with Taylor over Dominguez though.
  6. Halo HangoutAngels' leadership looks far worse after Pirates' Konnor...The Pittsburgh Pirates' promotion of Konnor Griffin is just another reminder of how far the Los Angeles Angels have fallen.all the reports are that Angels wanted a college player in Christian Moore to fast track to big leagues struggled and will likely move from 2B to replace the even worse Moncada at third
  7. He doesn't have that much value with Charlotte enhanced stat unless he can replicate it at the big league level... Who had the stat 9/14 homers before today wouldn't have gotten out in the average mlb stadium? https://www.mlb.com/video/jacob-gonzalez-homers-15-on-a-fly-ball-to-right-center-field 398 feet
  8. Guardians on a roll 28-22 Tigers have fallen to 20-29, a season low 9 games under .500
  9. Scott Scooter Fletcher was hardly tall...but sister Brittany was Miss Georgia 2013 (Gordon's wife).
  10. Brewers Rays Guardians on top once again Majority of big market teams outside of NYY scuffling right now. Parity or aberration? Or it's simply small market teams like Pirates amassing stronger drafts with higher selections?
  11. Cle up 4-3 over Detroit bottom 7 in Motown Brewers taking it to Cubs early in battle for first place....The Miz on the mound
  12. It didn't name the two teams trying to undercut him by $2 million...the White Sox weren't one of the four underslots like Angels on C.Moore or Guardians on Bazzana. Just the fact that they somehow "encouraged" the 4/5/6 picks not to go with him....obviously Kurtz has turned out great for the A's, Cags so so for KC. KC had Witt Jr. as their cornerstone, can't exactly recall where Jacob Wilson and Colson were at that exact point in 2024 as prospects, I think Colson was already struggling, though. Obviously they had established that strong relationship with the Pirates' scout Mazeroski from the very beginning and were most comfortable with him, almost like an SEC basketball or football recruiting situation. Many stories out there like this...similar to Preller having 5-6 international guys all over Tatis Jr back in day that he'd brought over from the Texas Rangers. Whereas White Sox had only 1-2 assigned to Griffin...not unlike two big name/long time Sox scouts being cut from mlb advance scouting (2021-2024 with Covid cost cutting rationalization), leaving only Hostetler to cover job of three in 2024-2025.
  13. SI whole article linked in Diamond Notes
  14. A's White Sox and Royals/Witt basically rejected by Griffin family "We had teams all the way to about No. 20 that told us if Konner made it to them, they were going to take him and we already knew what dollar amount that they were willing to go above their slot,” Kevin says. “So, we weren’t stressed about it a whole lot. We did have to convince Konnor that turning down the fourth (A's), fifth (White Sox, Hagen Smith) or sixth pick (Caglianone, KC) in the draft was not a bad thing. It just came down to fit and where we felt he could thrive. We kind of slow played it and held out a little bit until Pittsburgh came along.” The Griffins waited through eight picks. Kevin says two of the eight teams called with offers “to go like $2 million under slot.” Kevin told them, “Don’t pick him. He’ll go to LSU if you do.” Four of the first eight teams signed players for less than slot money: the Guardians at No. 1 (Travis Bazzana), the Reds at No. 2 (Chase Burns), the Athletics at No. 4 (Nick Kurtz) and the Angels at No. 8 (Christian Moore). Teams enter each draft with a designated pool of money to sign picks. Sometimes they select a player in the first round knowing they can sign that player at below slot money and funnel the savings toward a later pick. The Pirates used the coupon-clipping strategy with the first pick of the 2021 draft when they took catcher Henry Davis. They signed him for less money than four of the next five picks (Jack Leiter, Jackson Jobe, Marcelo Mayer and Jordan Lawler). The ninth pick of the 2024 draft became a statement and philosophical pivot by the Pirates. Griffin was highly recommended by their area scout, Darren Mazeroski, son of the late Hall of Fame second baseman. After the Angels passed on Griffin, a Pirates official called Kevin and said, “We’re taking Konnor. We want the player. We’ll worry about the money later. We’re just not going to pass him up.” www.si.com
  15. SIKonnor Griffin Is the World’s Most Precocious 20-Year-Old...The Pirates phenom exited his teenage years less than a month ago but has the habits and mannerisms of someone twice—or perhaps thrice—his age.

  22. Not scoring that first inning doomed this one from the get go.
