  1. What's hard to fathom is how Sheets and Maldonado (sure it's early) can suddenly be meaningful contributors on what on paper at least is the best team in baseball for the moment. Environment/atmosphere? Self belief? Big home crowds? Weather? Put these guys around 4-5 All Stars and a very solid pitching staff and suddenly they start to perform again...maybe due to lack of pressure or not being under a microscope playing on the worst team in MLB history? Was it really all Grifol and Boston?
  2. Except for Bogaerts...that could be the White Sox. Gurriel Lockridge E.Diaz and Oscar Gonzalez on the bench, all in the Sox price range. Wade has an 580 ops for his entire big league career. 3. Getz buys himself at least two more years on the job simply by not signing anyone for more than $5 million in FA after Fedde...looking back, it's almost amazing nearly $15 million was authorized by JR for a pitcher coming over from Korea, where they have an almost non existent scouting imprint.
  4. You have to pick up that on the evaluation/scouting side first...for example, Burger's tenacity and will to not give up. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/general/jake-burger-s-all-or-nothing-approach-should-start-to-pay-off/ar-AA1CQnM6?ocid=BingNewsSerp At any rate, Elko couldn't be more the opposite physically...just am conditioned to expect similar big league results in terms of overall impact.
  5. Nick Swisher and Melky Cabrera There's a lot of guys who were at the end of the line though, like Jay, Alonso and Encarnacion. This the same organization that is having a 2008 Ken Griffey Jr. Bobblehead, after all.
  6. Except Nick Kurtz and maybe Caglianone
  7. 29. White Sox (previously: 29) Sure, the White Sox got to say hi to Crochet when he came with his new team, the Red Sox, on Sunday, but the real news from that trade, as far as Sox fans are concerned, was the debut over the weekend of Chase Meidroth, one of the four young players they received in the Crochet trade. He’s an on-base machine, and he showed why in his first game, reaching base four times, with three walks. On Sunday? He incredibly broke up Crochet's no-hit bid with a single in the eighth inning. mlb.com Rockies now 30th...Kris Bryant deal might be the worst in baseball, goes on for four more years
  8. Well...it is if they want to have a strong defense and in still confidence in one of the younger staffs in the night leagues outside of Perez. Unless we also (already) believe that Cannon Martin Burke and Smith all won't be on the next Sox playoff team.
  9. “I was aware of the no-hitter since the first batter,” Crochet said. “That’s just kind of who I am, I suppose. A blessing and a curse.” bostonglobe.com/sports Gets another opportunity against the Sox in Boston this weekend...
  10. Best promotions for each team... White Sox: Sunday Bobblehead Series The White Sox have stepped up their giveaway game in ‘25, with the gameday handouts ranging from a 2005 Hawaiian shirt (July 11 vs. Cleveland) to a Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day green hockey jersey (Sept. 20 vs. Padres). They also have six great Sunday bobbleheads including Charles Comiskey (May 25 vs. Rangers), Ray Durham (June 8 vs. Royals), Luis Aparicio (June 29 vs. Giants) and Ken Griffey Jr. (Aug. 24 vs. Twins). But it’s tough to top the ‘05 World Series themed bobbleheads featuring the combination of four starters, in Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras, Jon Garland and Freddy Garcia, who hurled back-to-back-to-back-to-back complete games in the ALCS (July 13 vs. the Guardians) and manager Ozzie Guillen making his unique call for closer Bobby Jenks in Game 1 of the World Series (Aug. 10 vs. Guardians). -- Scott Merkin
  11. And Colson has gone from one of the "steals" of the year he was drafted to one of the biggest question marks across the entire minor leagues...
  12. That's fine, but it's still not a long-term solution to trust Outman at this point, not after 2024 and what happened to Miguel Vargas since the trade... The only CF on the minor league map is Braden Montgomery, and he's ideally ticketed for RF because of his plus arm and range being just average or a tick below for center (that is, unless you trust "fixing" Greg Jones). Unless they're totally desperate to dump salary (sad, in and of itself), then they have to get de Paula back. Hope is more of a LF imo, although he can play CF as well.
  13. 114 / 13 career seasons averages out to about 8.8 homers per season, though...
  14. There's absolutely no need to hurry a trade because that just means they'll have to play Michael Taylor everyday in CF...which will end up with him getting hurt, too. Then who you do play in CF? Greg Jones? Fletcher?
  15. If only we were in a position to draft Nick Kurtz last year...man, that Oakland line-up is starting to look more and more potent by the day. Butler, Jacob Wilson, Soderstrom, Rooker, Langeliers, Bleday and even Miguel Andujar. OFC, we get to face the A's this week, beginning on TUES.
  16. Pillar never had close to 30 homer power...
  17. Keifer Sutherland fans will be happy.
  18. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44661007/cubs-justin-steele-elbow-surgery-season Somebody has to have use for Martin Perez about right now...and won't pay asking price for Alcantara or Luis Castillo. PCA with a homer, homer and triple tonight so far, only brings him up to .229/.689. The Cubs desperately needed that production from him after the Steele news.
  19. Padres are not the best team in baseball...not even close, despite the record/s. Don't even have Darvish Cronenworth and Merrill at the moment.
  20. Would be lucky to get Pages at this point. But Hope or dePaula the too obvious asks.
  21. 4/45 coming into play today
  22. Pretty much know it's going to be the Sox, Marlins, Rockies....not counting on the Braves and Twins to have the worst records when all is said and done. Has to be at least one NL Central team, likeliest the Pirates.
  23. What exactly is a "scolding" from Manfred, lol?
  24. DFA'ed? With an ERA in the 2's?
  25. I think it was HOK or Ellerbe Beckett that were the two big stadium architectural firms back then...
