Ownership breakdown: ishbias 35%, Reinsdorfs 50%
No...the control shares would still be with the sons, theoretically. They would have to negotiate a settlement with the Ishbias, unless it's already laid out in the success plan...likely (a large part of) the reason for them to move on from the Twins to the White Sox.

2025 Old Sock Drawer
Dylan Cease has given up 15 runs in his first 20.33 IP over 4 starts (6.64 era) but Padres still looking to go to 14-3 due to Sheets and Tatis, largely. Martin Maldonado popped a bunt up with runners on the corners and one out lol. https://www.si.com/mlb/padres/san-diego-padres-news/new-padres-slugger-was-blindsided-to-be-cut-by-former-team-it-fueled-me-a-little-bit Sheets told Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune the move was shocking for him. However, he understands these types of moves are part of the business aspect of professional baseball. “I didn’t see it coming,”Sheets said to Sanders recently. “But it’s part of the game. It’s part of where they’re at.” “Looking back at it now, it fueled me a little bit to say the least,” Sheets said. “I thought that where they were at and where I was at, we could work together.” “But as soon as it happened, I was kind of excited about getting a fresh start somewhere, getting somewhere where (I could) hopefully get back to winning,” Sheets said.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Plus the days of Taylor playing CF everyday are long behind him...leaving Kik-e as the only other choice.

2025 MLB Draft
Hope this doesn't turn into another Carson Fulmer, who seemingly peaked in college...or all the pressure will fall on Taylor and Schultz. Yes it early. Maybe I am inherently biased against anyone whose hair reminds of Clevinger's lol.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Pages is really struggling for the Dodgers in the early going...we shall see. They're not going to overeact to SD and SF getting off to strong starts when they believe AZ might be their stiffest competition.

Alexander Canario
Who was the huge Ben Rice fan last year? He's having his 15 mins of fame at the moment.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Things will normalize at 54 games if he's still healthy...largely because of the defense and base stealing.

CNBC lists Ishbias as co-owners of Sox with 2025 purchase date
Yes, but it was always believed to be "only" around 5-10%, not anywhere close to the 19% he claimed in his interview with the NY TIMES/Athletic.

Billionaire Justin Ishbia abandons bid for Twins to boost his ... The New York Times https://www.nytimes.com › athletic › 2025/02/21 › whit... Feb 25, 2025 — He recently told Crain's Chicago Business he owns more than 19 percent of the team, but he's kept his true stake a mystery for decades. “No ... So the Ishbia's were ONLY successful buying up 16% of the remaining shares from minority shareholders and the Reinsdorf kids somehow were able to buy up 25-30%????? Why why why why why? And it wouldn't matter even if the Ishbia's could get the remaining eight minority partners (for 15%) to move to 50% overall because the Reinsdorfs would still retain the control shares.

Offense non-development...
Fernando Tatis, Jr. 2024 All-Star as well (LOL)

Offense non-development...
Damaso Marte, Jenks, Alejandro de Aza, Sergio Santos for a couple of years, Matt Thornton Esteban Loiaza then flipped for Contreras Iguchi Pods Dye AJ El Duque Vizcaino (for 2005), you can add Ozuna and Everett as well Freddy Garcia for Floyd and Gio Gonzalez KW has a lot of bad trades, too....surely, but look at the overall record of the team from 2000 through 2012.

Ownership breakdown: ishbias 35%, Reinsdorfs 50%
Whoever has the most money will win...that's capitalism. Just like whoever has the ability as a corporation or individual to influence the political process will be rewarded with "cut outs" to protect their industries, while Mainstreet/Everyday Joe's simply don't stand a chance to survive or protect their investments from events outside their control. That's the system as it currently stands. It's not even based on Ayn Rand/John Galt "fairness" or merit-based principles that the so-called "best" or "elites" win out in the end.

Ownership breakdown: ishbias 35%, Reinsdorfs 50%
It's depressing if you're 55 years old and have to wait at least another 3-5 years to have a decent baseball club to watch...and another 5-10 years for the stadium situation to be finalized in some way, shape or form. Anyone want to put up the odds that we DON'T sign a player to a contract for more than Benintendi/Grandal $70-75 million numbers in the next 3-5 years???? There's no doubt in my mind that someone like Nick Kurtz is going to get over $100 for an early extension with the A's and we'll be the LAST/FINAL team in the entire sport without a contract over that number...although technically, I guess the Rays' deal with Franco was voided.

Once again...comparing Getz to Hahn and Haber, both out of the sport entirely, not exactly a high a high bar to set.

Ownership breakdown: ishbias 35%, Reinsdorfs 50%
At this point, you're almost stuck rooting for more national embarrassment or the Office of the Commissioner to step in. Running the 29th highest payroll in baseball out of Chicago? If/when Robert Perez Benintendi are dealt...they will fall below the Marlins for lowest payroll in the sport. That's just crazy. Waiting for the stadium issue to come to a head is going to take forever...and there's just no way the Ishbias would want to be locked into that stadium for another 15-20 years. They're getting close to Anaheim and KC now having the oldest facilities outside of Fenway and Wrigley.

Golf/PGA TOUR thread
Especially Palmer...three seconds in the PGA. Mickelson and Spieth each one major away. McIlroy simply hit three amazing approach/iron shots and that was enough...really expected a bogey on 17 or 18 after Rose miraculously birdied the final hole. Five shot lead blown...and seven over Rose starting the day. Crazy. And that's Rose's second playoff loss, other was to Garcia.

2025 MLB Draft
And Pasquantino if he can stay healthy...
-
Ownership breakdown: ishbias 35%, Reinsdorfs 50%
This is just depressing... Why would Ishbia put himself in this seemingly untenable position? He has nothing to gain helping to finance a new stadium if the Reinsdorfs will end up taking the credit ultimately. Why would buying the Twins outright not be the better play? Inside information on Correa's health lol? This just doesn't make any sense at all from a practical standpoint. If anything...the valuation will continue to shrink if the US enters recession territory. And CHSN looks like a total fiasco so far.

Slater torn meniscus; Jones back
Defense isn't the problem now...but he can't survive at a corner with those numbers.

2025 MLB season...catch-all for non-Sox, non AL-Central
Jinxed Alexander already...4-0 DET. And Tanner Houck just gave up 12 runs in Tampa Bay for the Red Sox...yikes! At least Cam Misner fans will be happy.

CNBC lists Ishbias as co-owners of Sox with 2025 purchase date
After missing the NBA playoffs and play-in tournament with the largest payroll in league history, the Phoenix Suns have fired head coach Mike Budenholzer, the team announced Monday. "Competing at the highest level remains our goal, and we failed to meet expectations this season. Our fans deserve better. Change is needed," the team said in a statement. For the third consecutive offseason, Suns owner Mat Ishbia, CEO Josh Bartelstein and general manager James Jones are changing coaches. Phoenix finished 36-46. Budenholzer had issues connecting with the locker room this season, with team officials concluding that the roster failed to respond to the 2021 NBA championship coach, sources said. Budenholzer's inability to coexist with his players centered around the franchise's cornerstone, Devin Booker, and went down the roster, those sources said. The Suns will now hold a wide-ranging coaching search, sources said. source: espn.com Can you imagine JR eating $40 million and 4 years on a manager's contract? Preposterous. Ofc, constantly churning through new managers isn't exactly a brilliant strategy when it's almost always about the players in the NBA.

Well, he's the backup catcher. But he didn't have that many hits in a couple of MONTHS for the White Sox last year. As far as DFA's go, pretty much all of the players rostered from #16-25 fit into this kind of territory, the Connor Joe's (AAA) and Heyward's of the world that are strictly platoon players in their final years, same with Gurriel at 40/41 or whatever age he is now. This is pretty much the definition of the 2013-2016 White Sox model with "stars and scrubs." But the big difference is you have more "stars" in play, a very solid bullpen and certainly a bigger payroll, but nothing like what it was two years ago when SD was #2 or #3 starting out the season to the Mets/Dodgers.

Now the Brewers are competing with Jose Quintana...Tyler Alexander...and Priester (trade with Red Sox) in their rotation. Pretty incredible how resilient that organization is. Still waiting on Woodruff and Tobias Myers.

Andrew Vaughn is Officially a Bust
And it's noteworthy here that Torkelson has finally made needed adjustments and seems to be blossoming as a big league hitter...at least comparatively.

So there's basically going to be a war of attrition to "starve" the White Sox to death on payroll and stadium funding until they have no alternative but to capitulate to the Ishbias...
