  1. When do we start to worry just a little that Smith is getting fairly close to the halfway mark of 2024 innings pitched? Guess they will attempt to push him up to the 130-150 range...
  2. Great, two more weeks of Palacios...but that is who Tauchman logically replaces. White Sox leading MLB with 550-650 hitters lol. Except Quero Thaiss and Elko.
  3. Palacios was a minor league Rule 5 draft pick by the Pirates lol. Figures. Same with Dane Myers...who at least has a great throwing arm from the OF.
  4. Smith and Cabrera both throw very hard sliders and changes. Rule of thumb used to be 8-10 mph off fb.
  5. He's broadcasting for the Marlins...I refuse to listen to Schiffren. Did Tigers' games before both he and his partner fired for fighting each other. Partner Mario Impemba was/is a good dude...met him when he was doing games in the Quad Cities.
  6. Quero can throw. How does he compare to Olivo?
  7. Interesting Rod Allen (fought with Impemba in DET) says Baines is his best friend, first roommate after that draft...played with Chappas Hoyt Dotson Baumgarten Trout in Appleton.
  8. Offense gets you on the field and defense keeps you...how does this apply to Sosa and Baldwin?
  9. Maybe Getz thought he was getting his brother Richie Palacios instead..
  10. Smith Wilson Campbell and now Dominguez have to to be top of RoY standings so far....
  11. And Robert has actually hit Cabrera...albeit SSS.
  12. Osik gets credit for lighting a fire under him lol.
  13. Vaughn up to 193. This is the kind of tough RH stuff pitcher Robert has to prove he can hit against. Second game out of lineup recently.
  14. Charlotte numbers are misleading for both pitchers and catchers. Well, except Colson who's now 3/14 in ACL/rookie ball.
  15. Cabrera has great stuff but typically disappointing results.
  16. Meidroth down to a 608 ops
  17. Smith at 96/97 from the get go and pitched around a terrible ball call that should have been an 0-2 count.
  18. Watching the Red Sox Netflix series...Tyler ONeill has one of his own (Traject) in the basement set at 40 feet. If only we used our budget on things like that...rather than wasting so much on "leadership" veterans who won't bring any return and will simply block younger prospects along the way.
  19. He was playing today in Charlotte.
  20. Yeah...the one thing opposing broadcasters love to share is loads of Bill Veeck lore, and how he never set foot again on the Southside, preferring the Wrigley bleachers.
  21. They will exhaust every option on the 40 man first, but other options are already running low...hence the churning of Greg Jones into the ether.
  22. Gomez, 25, is joining his third organization this season after the Dodgers claimed him off waivers from the New York Yankees last month. He is a combined 1-1 with a 6.28 ERA and a three-out save in nine relief appearances this season. In 15 major league appearances over parts of three seasons, Gomez is 1-1 with a 4.88 ERA.
  23. Fine, I’m going to pull a Balta. No posting until Elko is up. This kind of torture for fans is beyond the pale anyway. The funny thing is this original article writer was talking about finally turning his back on the Cubs at the beginning of the first rebuild…the year after the Cubs won it all. Eight years later and the Sox are much worse off than back then.
  24. Those are not the career big league numbers of a legit DH...except for an awful team. Just next to zero upside. And he doesn't have a position that he plays exceptionally well on the defensive side, either. Just don't get it. 496 .202 17 67 3 .654
  25. Rodon in 2021 and Profar last year (steroids)...hard to think of many under $3 million. The Rays stuck with Aranda through two really disappointing years...but he was already in their system. Really comes down to the draft. Jaren Duran in the 7th round and Campbell in the 4th? Tanner Houck 12th round. That's almost unreal success for the Red Sox outside of the first 2-3 rounds.
