McDaniel/ESPN rank Sox system #2 behind LAD
Harold likes this post. You better pull at that same math for when we acquire Kelenic haha.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
"That isn’t the case for Julian Merryweather or Keegan Thompson. They’d each need to be in the majors or be designated for assignment. Thompson’s swing-and-miss ability probably gives him a leg up." White Sox could always improve pen...one of those guys will be DFAed. Merryweather is mlbtraderumors writer's guess.

Hard to hate the Twins right now unless they somehow end up with Cohen-like ownership and that stadium will never be the home field advantage that the HHH MetroDOOM was in the past. Nightmares still of guys like Hunter J.Jones Denny Hocking and Blanco.

Bohm would be better than Gavin Lux but not by much since most of our infield prospects profile best at 3B and then 2B...

Tray needs to rewatch Rudy and Hoosiers for good measure. Or maybe Colson can, too.

LAD paid about half? $1.5-2.5 million? Just watch the prospect/s going the other way after the Hope/Ferris/Busch deal...

Keith Law Top 20 organization writeup
Well, Boras is his agent ofc. As long as the field conditions are always major league quality...but they use/d that field for MLB spring training for Yankees so not an issue. Normally A...especially Low A vs High A fields don't offer the ideal fielding conditions, leading to lots of "unforced errors" which would drag down his fWAR and bWAR. (There will still be leaguewide complaints about the oppressive summer heat in SAC though.)

Ghost of Ed Farmer doesn’t like this post. Hard to be a true villain unless you consistently win championships like Bama under Saban. Dabo Sweeney comes close...or Mike Gundy.

White Sox ahead of Rockies for fWAR?
https://www.baseballprospectus.com/standings/ PECOTA predicted standings...feels like 60+ wins would take a minor miracle or the best coaching job in history. Yet another prediction system putting the Twins on top, by the way. Poor Rockies fans...Charlie Blackmon now in their front office.

Well, 1000 total simulations of the 2025 season had them topping out at 77 wins...so probably not?

For me, Mahomes' improvisational style of play is so much more fun than plain vanilla Brady. He's set the standard for run/pass QBs and the need to be a duel threat to defenses. Mahomes also has a much more effervescemt personality...but was also overlooked in high school and then at TT until the end of his career. His dad being an MLB pitcher is a cool side story. Then there's going from the days of Hill/Kelce air raid to winning with defense and blitzing behind Spagnuolo. 4-5 years ago, that defense could hardly shut down even the Iowa Hawkeyes or Wisconsin Badgers. Now it's one of the core strengths of the team. Patriots were famous for not having many stars beyond Brady...sure guys like Vrabel, Gilmore some great DL and LB play back in the day. And then Robert Kraft seemed like such a jerk, too. Belichick and Andy Reid couldn't be any more different as personalities. And Chiefs' fans were loyal for 20-30 years when they would always invariably stimble in the playoffs. They're like the 1980s and 90s StL Cardinals fanbase, but less annoying and not as racist lol.

Solid article on why Venable deserves a chance, at least moreso than Grifol
Even more encouraging support from Rangers’ fans than even WestEddy could provide on his best day.

This whole MLB-wide streaming service with blackouts a thing of the past just went poof. Large market teams/owners win yet again…

Not expecting to see Schultz and Smith this year much doesn’t help. Law has taken a lot of the joy out of Colson hype, lol. Catchers like Teel/Quero are usually more complementary parts of a team. We might be the least exciting team with a top farm system in recent memory…still lacking that franchise-defining superstar. Our starting rotation might be the least exciting in baseball, Burke the most interesting there. Bullpen could be the worst in baseball history…except randomness.

I think a big chunk of it is everyone is getting tired of Kelce Brothers, Swift backlash too. The weird thing here is that Chiefs’ ownership is very conservative…so is Mahomes’ wife and resident dumbass Harrison Butker, but Taylor Swift/woke burnout is not insignificant. She’s been much less visible this year, for the most part. Probably wise on her part.

The Lakers still haven’t won anything yet..or recently. Pelinka can hardly be blamed for making a smart trade. Celtics are also hard to hate compared to Bird, McHale, Parrish, Ainge, DJ teams. Don’t follow hockey much….used to be Canadians or Edmonton/LA with Gretzky. Too late for Angel Reese? Who was that Duke bb player always hated by opponents and in trouble for cheap shots? Much less famous version of Christian Laettner…SG? Pretty sure he’s in the NBA now, maybe Phoenix…

https://sports.yahoo.com/super-bowl-2025-chiefs-have-become-the-nfls-villains-and-theyre-good-with-it-044336333.html Personally, hard to hate Mahomes, Reid, Kelce, etc. 5/6 Super Bowls. Burnout and Taylor Swift Backlash. Kareem Hunt had his troubles, but has become a redemption story of sorts. Dodgers are outspending the world. But… But they don’t really have one flamboyant owner always out front. Ohtani Betts Freeman…nobody really hates them that I know of. Respect, sure. Sasaki is a villain in SD and Toronto, I guess. Dave Roberts is likable enough. West Coast vibe is more laid back than markets like NY Boston Philly. Still only two WS series titles with one tainted…and they were down 2-1 to SD with a bullpen start, very easily could have been three consecutive postseason flameouts. No really nasty guy in the bullpen like Clu Haywood in Major League. Kopech has a man bun and Blake Treinen could walk down any major street in the US and not be recognized except by Dodgers’ fans.

Regression from Perez. No major moves, really, this offseason…Wacha and Lugo prime candidates to regress, and India move a bit of a head-scratcher as it weakens the back end of that rotation. Ragans can hold up how long after two TJS? What do they have past their Top 4-5 hitters? Weak farm system, Caglianone looks to be at least two years away and not much else to get excited about.
